Chapter 299: Chapter 178: The Hotel-Running Rainbow Dragon, The Vampire’s Embrace

As one of the three major settlements in the Shadow Realm, Awo Castle welcomed many outsiders from different civilizations and races.

Many of these outsiders simply settled down in the castle and opened shops.

As a result, the castle’s architectural styles were wildly eclectic.

Some, like those in Chenxi City, had a more modern flair.

Others were constructed entirely from wood and bamboo in a classical style.

Some were simply built haphazardly from mud and stone, exuding a primitive, barbaric feel.

There were even some constructed entirely of white bone, still bearing dried bloodstains—a chilling sight.

And matching the eclectic architecture were the bizarrely shaped creatures walking the streets.

There were the Dragon-men, with their lizard-like heads, burly and tall frames, variously colored skin, sharp claws, and tails over a meter long.

There were members of the Sub-Astral Divine Race, exuding a holy aura with their pale golden skin, some in humanoid form, others with the heads of beasts atop human bodies.

There were Medusas, with their beautiful faces and graceful figures, but whose hair was a mass of countless slender snakes.

Walking down the street, Su Ya and Peng Yan felt their eyes could hardly take it all in.

It was the first time they had ever seen so many different races, and the first time they had seen so many disparate species gathered in one place, coexisting peacefully. It was a truly eye-opening experience.

"There are even Angels!" Su Ya suddenly gasped, her eyes widening as she looked into the distance.

Peng Yan followed her gaze, his own eyes widening in surprise.

A little over twenty meters away, a handsome man well over two meters tall was browsing some merchandise.

He had a pair of snow-white wings, but unlike those of a typical Angel, his hands grew from the joints in the middle of his wings.

"That’s a Pengyu Angel," Pei Ze explained with a casual glance. "They aren’t servants of a Divine Spirit, but creatures from the Celestial Realm."

When people spoke of Angels, they were usually referring to the servants of the God of Light.

The God of Light was a famously powerful Divine Spirit in the Multiverse, a god among gods who ranked even higher than Greater Divine Spirits.

Eons ago, he had created the Angel race.

With his powerful Angel Legion, the God of Light conquered numerous planes and established the most massive Divine Kingdom of Faith in the Multiverse.

One could say that the Angel Legion was responsible for forging half of the God of Light’s formidable reputation.

Pengyu Angels, however, were different. This race was not subject to the God of light; like the Sub-Astral Divine Race, they were creatures of the Celestial Realm and had absolutely nothing to do with Divine Spirits.

In terms of power, however, Pengyu Angels were no weaker than the Bright Angels.

An adult Pengyu Angel typically possessed the combat prowess of a ninth-rank legend and was also proficient in healing.

However, their race belonged to the good alignment; they abhorred killing and would rarely enter into conflict with others.

Hearing Pei Ze’s explanation, Su Ya and Peng Yan nodded as if they only half-understood, their gazes still fixed curiously on the distant Pengyu Angel.

Pei Ze paid them no mind, his gaze sweeping across their surroundings.

’Whether it’s devouring the Netherworld Crow or capturing the Thunder Abyss Giant, both will take a considerable amount of time.’

’So I’ll have to stay in the Shadow Realm for quite a while.’

’I need to resupply, but I also need a place to rest and recover.’

’After all, the Shadow Realm is fraught with danger. There’s virtually nowhere safe out in the wilds. Only in one of the three major settlements can I rest and recover in peace.’

’So finding a place to stay in Awo Castle is a must.’

There were many taverns and inns in the castle offering lodging, but most of their architectural styles were bizarre and grotesque, completely at odds with human aesthetics.

Pei Ze walked for the better part of half a day before he finally saw a somewhat normal-looking inn called the Rainbow Inn.

The proprietor was a golden-haired youth, tall and slender, with features so handsome they were even more delicate and perfect than an elf’s.

However, Pei Ze sensed a strange aura from him, one that even gave him a faint sense of pressure.

The black bracelet on his wrist trembled slightly, and a wisp of an idea entered Pei Ze’s mind. A flicker of deep blue light flashed through his eyes, and in the next moment, the golden-haired youth’s true form was revealed.

Astonishingly, the youth’s true form was a dragon.

And a Rainbow Dragon, at that.

Pei Ze was inwardly stunned.

Rainbow Dragons were an extremely rare species of dragon; many people believed they existed only in legends and stories.

Rainbow Dragons didn’t reside on the Material Plane, typically living scattered across the various outer planes.

It was common knowledge that dragons were natural-born Casters, their draconic tongue inherently capable of influencing Energy Particles.

Many of the spells created by Wizards incorporated draconic syllables.

However, possessing a powerful innate casting ability didn’t mean all dragons were skilled Casters.

In fact, the opposite was true. Because their physical bodies were already incomparably mighty, most dragons had little interest in diligently studying Magic.

They were far more accustomed to relying on their terrifying innate breath weapons, sharp fangs, and powerful claws in a fight.

Due to this lack of focus and training, despite being natural-born Casters, most dragons could not be considered exceptional. The majority only learned a handful of spells to dabble with.

But Rainbow Dragons were the exception.

This species of dragon had a particular love for studying Magic, and they could often be considered highly accomplished Great Wizards.

Just like this young Rainbow Dragon before him.

Most dragons could use an Illusion Technique to assume human form, but for one to be so convincing that even Pei Ze couldn’t initially detect it—only managing to see the dragon’s true form by relying on Wuyu’s power to pierce illusions—spoke to an extremely high level of magical skill.

As if sensing something, the golden-haired youth behind the counter suddenly looked up. His profound gaze met Pei Ze’s, then shifted down to the black bracelet on his wrist. He let out a soft sound of surprise.
