Moreover, the gift was a rare Fairy House, which had left a deep impression on him.
"Did he leave anything behind?"
Nymph quickly produced a badge and respectfully handed it to Pei Ze, saying, "The Wizard left this. He said it has his Secret Technique Mark and that he hoped you would let him know after you returned, Master. He would then pay another visit."
Pei Ze took the badge and examined it carefully.
The badge was about the size of a coin with a gleaming silver background. The front was engraved with a deep, starry sky, while the back bore the character for "journey."
The character was written squarely, but after staring at it for a few seconds, it began to rotate slowly in a strange way. With another blink, the character was upright again, as if the whole thing had been an illusion.
"A rather unique little gadget."
Pei Ze smiled slightly, rubbing the pad of his thumb over the front of the badge. A speck of silver light then appeared—it was Tao Ping’s Secret Technique Mark.
He reached out and touched the silver light. In the next instant, it transformed into a silver butterfly, fluttered lazily high into the sky, and soon vanished in the distance.
Pei Ze put away the badge and continued walking forward.
"Is there anything else?"
"No, Master. After word of your deeds on the Plane Battlefield spread, the other Wizards knew you weren’t at the mansion, so we had far fewer visitors."
Nymph’s beautiful eyes sparkled as she gazed at Pei Ze, her face filled with adoration.
When they went out to buy food, they would occasionally hear Wizards discussing Pei Ze’s astonishing performance on the Plane Battlefield.
When those Wizards—beings who seemed so high and mighty in the fairies’ eyes—spoke of their master, their tones were filled with astonishment and admiration. They even called him the most outstanding new-generation Wizard in Chenxi City.
Gradually, they came to realize that their master was a truly extraordinary figure.
For these otherworldly races who had been adrift in a foreign plane, being taken in as servants by such a master was undoubtedly a great stroke of luck.
Pei Ze paid no mind to Nymph’s gaze and continued, asking, "How is the herb garden?"
Nymph snapped out of her daze and quickly replied, "Everything is going very smoothly. We’ve already harvested two batches of mature, rare plants. They’ve all been preserved according to the method you left, Master, and are stored in the warehouse."
Pei Ze nodded in satisfaction.
The rare plants in the herb garden were all ones he had carefully selected. They were costly materials frequently used in many potions.
With an ample supply of materials, he could save some money when he started brewing Tier Three Potions.
Before leaving Red Maple City, he had spent every last one of his merit points, and most of his Magic Stone Coins were gone as well.
In total, he now had fewer than three thousand Magic Stone Coins on him.
As they spoke, Pei Ze and Nymph passed through the front courtyard, a long corridor, and the first-floor hall.
Along the way, they encountered several Water Sprites cleaning the mansion.
Upon seeing Pei Ze, the Water Sprites immediately stopped their chores and bowed to him in unison.
Before long, Pei Ze and Nymph arrived at the herb garden in the backyard.
Wood Elves and Withered Leaf Fairies were hard at work in the herb garden. When they saw Pei Ze, they hastily moved to bow but were stopped by a wave of his hand.
"Carry on with your work."
At his words, the Wood Elves and Withered Leaf Fairies stopped their bows and, a little self-consciously, returned to their tasks.
Pei Ze walked a lap around the herb garden, a look of satisfaction on his face.
The Wood Elves and Withered Leaf Fairies were indeed experts at tending to rare plants. The entire garden was so well-maintained that even he couldn’t have done a better job himself.
"Double everyone’s pay for the month," Pei Ze said, turning to Nymph.
Although they were servants over whom he held the power of life and death, Pei Ze never mistreated these Fairies and Elves, giving them a certain amount of pay each month.
’In any case, the expense was negligible to him—less than the price of a single Tier Two Potion. If it motivated them to work harder, it was money well spent.’
Hearing Pei Ze’s words, Nymph was delighted and quickly nodded in assent.
The Wood Elves and Withered Leaf Fairies in the garden were also overcome with joy.
A month’s pay was enough for them to drink many cups of Clear Spirit Tree Juice—a beverage rich in plant-based Energy Particles and a favorite among the Elf and Fairy Races.
Pei Ze smiled. He suddenly remembered something, took out the Fairy House, and let Xiaoyi out.
During his time on the Turin Plane, there were too many Wizards of all sorts around. To keep her safe, Pei Ze had restricted Xiaoyi’s movements to the stone house.
However, the dull stone house was no match for the interesting Fairy House. The latter at least had forests and meadows, which were more suited to a Ten Thousand Flowers Fairy’s aesthetic sensibilities. Thus, Xiaoyi had spent most of her time in the Fairy House.
But even in such a suitable environment, being cooped up for over a year had nearly driven the lively, active little creature stir-crazy.
As a result, when she learned yesterday that Pei Ze was returning to Chenxi City, the little thing had been too excited to sleep all night.
Now that she was free, the sight of the familiar herb garden made Xiaoyi cry out with joy. She flapped her wings, dancing through the air, and her bell-like, gleeful laughter filled the garden.
Even Pei Ze found her joy infectious, and the corners of his mouth turned up in a slight smile.
Before long, however, Xiaoyi reverted to her old habits. She started ordering the Withered Leaf Fairies to give her leg and back massages, leaving them bewildered as to whether they should continue their work or obey their "boss."
Pei Ze watched in amusement, then with a flick of his hand, summoned the little creature over to him.
"They have to take care of the garden. Stop causing trouble."
"Yiyi!"
Ignoring the little creature’s protests, Pei Ze carried her back to the first-floor hall before setting her down.
"Listen. I let it slide before, but the garden is running smoothly now. Those Withered Leaf Fairies have a lot of work to do every day, so you’re not allowed to bother them anymore."
"Yiyi!"
"Not even for a little while."
’Pei Ze had no faith in the little creature’s self-control. Once she started playing, she’d get carried away and lose all track of time.’
"Yiyi!"
Pei Ze raised an eyebrow. He thought for a moment before conceding, "Alright, fine. Some other day I’ll buy a new batch of fairy slaves just to wait on you. How does that sound?"
"Yiyiyi!"
"I know, I know. I’ll take you with me to pick them out when the time comes."
Having received his promise, Xiaoyi was finally content and stopped her fussing.
After zipping around the hall, she disappeared again to play somewhere.
Pei Ze didn’t stop her. With the Array in place, there was no fear of her running out of the mansion.
He then let Wuyu out as well, allowing it to move about freely.
Nymph soon brought him some tea. Pei Ze sat down in the hall and, after a moment of thought, took out Tong Ming’s Secret Technique Mark and sent him a message.
’Now that he was back in Chenxi City, it was time to address the matter of Wuyu devouring crow-type Magical Creatures.’
’He planned to entrust Tong Ming with collecting them, just as he had before.’
After sending the message, Pei Ze took out the Memory Crystal Ball Mo Weng had given him and began to examine its contents carefully.
The difficulty of making Tier Three Potions was much higher than that of Tier Two Potions.
Generally, brewing them required a Spiritual Power of over one hundred units.
For an ordinary Wizard, this meant they would only be qualified to attempt brewing Tier Three Potions once they reached the second-level liquefaction stage.
However, for elite Wizards like Pei Ze and Yin Xue, their Spiritual Power would easily meet the requirement as soon as they advanced to become a Second-level Wizard.
This was the main reason Mo Weng had gifted the Tier Three Potion recipes to Pei Ze without a second thought.
Precisely because of the high requirements and great difficulty involved in brewing them, the price of Tier Three Potions far exceeded that of Tier Two Potions.
The Resonance Potion, one of the best Tier Two Potions, sold for a mere three hundred Magic Stone Coins.
Yet a single bottle of a Tier Three Potion cost over a thousand Magic Stone Coins at its cheapest, with the most expensive ones reaching nearly ten thousand.
’At a price of over a thousand Magic Stone Coins, a fifty-percent profit margin would earn me five or six hundred Magic Stone Coins. That’s a much faster way to make money than selling Resonance Potions.’
A smile spread across Pei Ze’s face as he began selecting which Tier Three Potion to brew.
