Chapter 282: Chapter 169: Returning to Chenxi City, The Most Outstanding Student

Star Realm Calendar, Year 14525, September 28.

Lady Frost has fallen.

Extreme Ice Giant Yanik and Ice Guardian Veronica have fallen in battle.

On the same day, Winter Frost City fell.

The Pope of the Winter Frost Sect fell in battle.

The Sovereign of the Church Country was captured.

Thus, the Winter Frost Sect Country was destroyed.

One-third of the Turin Plane’s territory fell into the hands of Chenxi City and Red Lotus City.

...

「Inside Red Maple City.」

Ever since the blockade was lifted, Free Mages had been leaving the Plane Battlefield in droves.

The once-bustling War City had grown much quieter and more desolate.

Aside from the members of the Silver Light Legion, fewer than a thousand Free Mages and Knights remained in the city.

「In the Cultivation Room of the stone house.」

Seated cross-legged on the floor, Pei Ze opened his eyes and let out a long breath. He clenched his fist, crushing the Purified Soul Crystal Stone in his palm into powder. Its energy was depleted, and it had turned into a grayish-white rock.

Nearly three months had passed since the fall of Lady Frost.

During this time, he had either been cultivating or engrossed in concocting resonance potions.

Although the war had come to a temporary halt, with the Wizards of the Silver Light Legion still present, there was no shortage of customers for the resonance potions. People came to purchase them every day.

Pei Ze had left all matters of selling the potions and dealing with customers entirely to Su Ya and Peng Yan.

He, in turn, converted all the merit points earned from selling the potions into Faith Crystals and Purified Soul Crystals.

He now had fifty-five Faith Crystals and two Purified Soul Crystals.

As for the Magic Stone Coins, Pei Ze used them to purchase rare metals.

Silver Star was now enhanced to +23, one step closer to its limit of a thirty-standard-unit metal combination.

’My Spiritual Power is almost at the refinement standard,’ Pei Ze thought for a moment and summoned the diagnostic data from his Eye of Omniscience.

[Spirit: 186.56]

[Constitution: 145.59]

’The daily increase from my Meditation has dropped to 0.34. At this rate, it’ll take another sixteen days to reach the limit of the gaseous state,’ Pei Ze mused.

It had taken seventeen Faith Crystals to break through to the Level 1 Crystalization Stage, and he estimated that advancing to Level 2 Liquefaction would require at least double that amount.

’But in any case, fifty-five Faith Crystals should be more than enough.’

He had gathered all the resources needed to advance to Level 2 Liquefaction. He just had to wait for his Spiritual Power to meet the requirement, and he could break through immediately.

The two Purified Soul Crystals were mainly for his training after reaching the liquefaction stage.

However, two Purified Soul Crystals were clearly not enough to sustain him until he reached the limit of the liquefaction stage; he would need at least four.

’Unfortunately, the war is over now, and the Wizards of the Silver Light Legion have fewer and fewer merit points. Recently, they’ve all been using Magic Stone Coins to buy my resonance potions.’

’If I keep staying here, I’m afraid I won’t be able to earn many more merit points.’

Pei Ze shook his head slightly.

He had been thinking of gathering enough resources to take him from the liquefaction stage all the way to the crystallization stage before leaving, but that now seemed highly unlikely.

His goal was to earn merit points. If he just wanted to make Magic Stone Coins, it would be better to return to Chenxi City.

The number of Wizards in Chenxi City who needed resonance potions far surpassed the entire Silver Light Legion in Red Maple City.

After a moment of contemplation, Pei Ze quickly came to a decision.

He rose and left the Cultivation Room, stepping outside the stone house.

Su Ya and Peng Yan were cultivating in the open space outside. When they saw Pei Ze emerge, they immediately stopped and bowed.

"My lord."

"Pack your things. We’re returning to Chenxi City tomorrow."

Su Ya and Peng Yan were taken aback for a moment. Once the words registered, their faces lit up with joy, and they nodded eagerly in acknowledgment.

They had been on the Plane Battlefield for over a year, and they were starting to get homesick.

Pei Ze smiled faintly. After the two returned to the stone house, he thought for a moment and then headed toward Yin Xue’s quarters.

’I should say goodbye to Yin Xue before I leave.’

As luck would have it, when Pei Ze arrived at Yin Xue’s quarters, she was inside and not out on a mission.

Upon seeing Pei Ze, Yin Xue’s face broke into a brilliant and joyous smile.

"Junior, what brings you here?"

Pei Ze smiled. "I plan on returning to Chenxi City. I just wanted to let you know before I left, Senior."

"You’re leaving?"

Yin Xue was taken aback, a hint of reluctance in her eyes.

Although the Winter Frost Sect Country had been conquered, it would take a long time to completely suppress the native populace, and she had to remain stationed here as part of the garrison.

With Pei Ze gone, she didn’t know when they would see each other again.

But Yin Xue was not one to be overly sentimental, and she quickly adjusted her state of mind.

"It’s for the best," she said. "The war is over, and the Silver Light Legion will begin pulling out of Red Maple City soon. This place will be deserted before long. There’s not much reason to stay."

"What are your plans now?"

Pei Ze smiled and said, "I’ll keep cultivating. I’m going to try to become an Elemental Mage as soon as possible."

After experiencing the recent war, Pei Ze was more aware than ever that while a Crystal Wizard might be a lofty figure in Chenxi City, in the grand scheme of the vast Multiverse, a Wizard of that level was nothing special.

’Take the plane war between the two great Wizard Cities and the Turin Civilization, for example. In a massive war like that, involving hundreds of millions of lives, Crystal Wizards are nothing more than elite soldiers—a step above cannon fodder and regular troops, but still firmly in the category of expendable assets.’

’Only Elemental Mages and Bloodline Wizards who possess a Wizard Tower can be considered the true backbone of an army.’

’Only experts of that caliber can truly dictate the course of a war.’

’I will definitely have to go through more plane wars in the future. To avoid becoming just another casualty on the battlefield, I have to become an Elemental Mage as quickly as possible.’

Had anyone else said such a thing, no matter how talented they were, Yin Xue would have found them at least a little overconfident.
