Chapter 275: Chapter 165: Burning the Alchemy Seal, An Almost-Born Foul Creature

If he lost his mind and completely became a vessel and sustenance for the Vile Entity, thereby transforming into an even more powerful monster, the situation would be just as dire.

’Should I run?’

Pei Ze’s eyes flickered, but he quickly dismissed the thought.

He wasn’t completely confident he could escape Pei Lingjie’s pursuit. If this dragged on, it would devolve into the same disastrous outcome.

’Looks like there’s only one option left.’

Pei Ze glanced at his task list.

During the past two days of travel, he had ample space and time for Meditation while riding the giant eagle. He had spent a considerable amount of Spiritual Power accelerating his tasks.

After two days, the progress on improving his Alchemy Engraving was only about twenty-odd spiritual energy levels away from completion.

It was just one step away from completion.

Taking a deep breath, Pei Ze no longer hesitated. He used Dimensional Flash to teleport five kilometers away, then immediately consumed his Spiritual Power to instantly complete the task.

In that instant, a massive amount of information flooded his mind.

"Trying to run?"

Meanwhile, Pei Lingjie thought Pei Ze was trying to flee. He let out a savage laugh and gave chase. The surging black energy coalesced into a monstrous serpent’s head, which opened its cavernous maw and lunged viciously at Pei Ze.

"Die!"

By now, Pei Ze had already processed all the information. His eyes were brighter than ever before.

Seeing Pei Lingjie charge at him, brimming with killing intent, the corners of Pei Ze’s mouth curled into a slight smile.

"You’re the one who’s going to die."

A brilliant silver light emerged.

Eighty-three silver markings seemed to come to life, peeling away from Pei Ze’s body. They ignited in mid-air, erupting into a roaring silver flame that completely engulfed him.

A powerful and heavy aura, like that of solid metal, suddenly spread out.

Feeling that aura, a look of profound horror appeared on Pei Lingjie’s savage face.

In that instant, he actually felt the threat of death!

"What is this ability?!"

Pei Lingjie was stunned and uncertain.

As far as he knew, an Alchemy Seal didn’t possess such immense power!

’What in the world is going on?’

Before Pei Lingjie could figure it out, hundreds of Lightning Runes materialized around Pei Ze, scrambling to merge into his body.

A blindingly bright flash of lightning instantly enveloped Pei Ze’s entire body!

At that moment, Pei Ze seemed to have transformed into the legendary Thunder God!

An intense feeling of unease washed over him. In his terror, Pei Lingjie let out a sharp cry. The black energy around him intensified, and the phantom serpent head grew more solid, as if becoming real. It bared its sharp fangs and lunged ferociously at Pei Ze.

A faint, foul stench even began to churn in the air.

Pei Ze’s expression remained unchanged. He raised a hand, and a dense spray of liquid silver shot out. In mid-air, it transformed into metal spikes wreathed in lightning, raining down on the Black-Scaled Serpent’s head like a tempest.

At this very moment, after burning the Silver Body Alchemy Engraving, Pei Ze could bear a maximum load of one hundred and seventy-two Lightning Runes!

The amount of Thunder Energy Particles contained within his body had reached a terrifying level.

When he unleashed his full power, the momentum was as overwhelming as a rampaging army of thousands, an unstoppable force sweeping away all resistance. The entire sky above the plains seemed to be dyed a shade of blue-white.

In the next instant, as the thunderstorm of countless metal spikes swept past like a torrent, the Black-Scaled Serpent’s head was instantly annihilated, reduced to dust!

Pei Lingjie, who was enveloped in the black energy, also erupted in bursts of blood mist all over his body, letting out an utterly wretched scream!

After the single strike, the lightning on Pei Ze’s body dissipated completely, and the silver markings on his skin quickly dimmed and faded away.

His face was a little pale. The over-expenditure of Spiritual Power made him feel nauseous, on the verge of vomiting.

At this moment, aside from his powerful physique and the Power of Fire Element within him, he had no other combat strength left. Any random Second-level Wizard could easily defeat him.

’If Pei Lingjie isn’t dead, my only option is to burn my Dimensional Flash and run.’

The dust and smoke settled, and Pei Lingjie’s figure was slowly revealed.

To Pei Ze’s relief, although Pei Lingjie wasn’t dead, he was close.

He lay motionless on the ground, his entire body charred black. There was hardly a single uninjured spot. In seven or eight places, his skin and flesh had vanished completely, revealing blackened craters where pale bones or squirming internal organs were faintly visible. His appearance was simply beyond miserable.

"Hngh... hhhh..."

Muffled sounds escaped Pei Lingjie’s lips. He seemed to be trying desperately to say something, but he couldn’t manage it.

’His life force is really tenacious. Is it because he merged with the Vile Entity?’

Sparks flashed in Pei Ze’s open palm, igniting into a raging blaze that quickly coalesced into a Flaming Spear.

He raised his arm high, about to end Pei Lingjie’s life.

But in the next second, countless hazy, twisted Resentful Spirits suddenly struggled their way out of Pei Lingjie’s body.

They let out bizarre, hate-filled whispers, baring their fangs and claws as they pounced viciously on the prone Pei Lingjie, frantically tearing at his flesh.

Pei Lingjie’s body immediately began to convulse violently as if electrocuted. He once again let out an unearthly scream, far more bloodcurdling than before.

Visibly, his body rapidly withered and dehydrated. His life force drained away swiftly under the Resentful Spirits’ assault, and in just a minute or two, he turned into a hideous, desiccated corpse.

A gray soul then emerged from the corpse. It was the spitting image of Pei Lingjie, his features restored to their original appearance.

Countless resentful souls screamed as they lunged at this soul.

At this moment, Pei Lingjie looked like a helpless child, unable to fight back. He could only let out shrill, wretched screams as he was ultimately torn to shreds and devoured by the thousands of Resentful Spirits.

Even Pei Ze couldn’t help but feel his hair stand on end at the sight.

’What terrifying malice. So this is the price of being consumed by a Vile Entity.’

A chill ran through Pei Ze’s heart. Seeing that the Resentful Spirits were beginning to gather and merge after devouring Pei Lingjie’s soul, his expression changed slightly, and he decisively threw the spear in his hand.

BOOM!

A torrent of fire erupted, and hundreds of Resentful Spirits were incinerated into nothingness.

However, more Resentful Spirits charged forward, wave after wave, using their Spirit Bodies to forcibly extinguish the flames.

Pei Ze’s expression grew increasingly grim. He continued to hurl Flaming Spears, one after another without stopping.

He had to. If he allowed the Resentful Spirits to merge, a Vile Entity would likely be born.

This Vile Entity had been nurtured inside Pei Lingjie’s body for a long time and had just devoured its host. If it was successfully born, its power would be far beyond what a Second-level Wizard like him could handle.

Not to mention, with less than a tenth of his combat power remaining, if the Vile Entity were truly born, he couldn’t even hope to escape.

Racing a Vile Entity across an endless plain was not a pleasant thought.

’I have to stop it!’

Shrill wails echoed across the plains.

Under Pei Ze’s relentless assault, the number of Resentful Spirits dwindled.

By the time the last Resentful Spirit shrieked and vanished in the flames, the Power of Fire Element inside Pei Ze was also nearly depleted.

’Finally cleaned it all up.’

Pei Ze let out a long sigh of relief. Still feeling uneasy, he took out some materials from his Space Ring and drew a Sealing Array on the spot.

Ever since his last encounter with a Vile Entity, he had gone back and specifically researched the topic, mastering several Sealing Arrays for cleansing malevolent thoughts.

He had originally learned them just in case. He never thought he’d have to use one so soon.

As the Array activated, a piercing scream seemed to echo from the void. The air suddenly cleared, and the faint sense of stagnation vanished completely.

Pei Ze nodded to himself.

’Now it’s truly clean.’

’The corrupting nature of these Vile Entities is too strong. If they are allowed to develop unchecked, it’s possible an entire plane could fall into disaster.’

Pei Ze now understood why the Star Realm Alliance strictly prohibited the research and cultivation of Vile Entities.

The danger they posed was simply too great!

Coming back to his senses, Pei Ze looked at the desiccated corpse on the ground. He casually tossed a flicker of flame, incinerating the corpse to ash. He even destroyed the remaining undamaged Magic Items one by one, leaving no chance for a Vile Entity to be born.

He didn’t plan on touching anything in the Space Ring either. Who knew how much malice it was contaminated with?

After finishing all this, Pei Ze left without a backward glance, heading in the direction Yin Xue and the others had taken earlier.
