At his words, a flicker of surprise crossed Bai Zhi’s and Yan Yichen’s faces. They immediately shot up and strode over to the window.

Bai Zhi and the others were already at the window, while the rest only then slowly got up to join them.

Right after Tina went to complain, Moerde had quickly arrived, leading a menacing-looking crowd.

Tina’s betrothed Beast Husband, Silver Moon, was still on his way, as he was coming from much farther away.

In an instant, Hades was surrounded. The Beastmen who had been restraining him all backed away as soon as they saw Moerde arrive.

When Tina saw Moerde arrive with his men, she clutched her cheek and cried out, “Father.”

Tina’s father, Moerde, who sported a full, wine-red beard, saw Tina’s reddened eyes and the swollen mark on her cheek. His face immediately hardened as he roared, “Hades! You are a Beastman, one of the three leaders of the Black Domain! Instead of setting an example, you dare to strike Tina like this!”

Hades just sneered. “Moerde, you’re the one who broke faith first. Your words were so sweet back then, weren’t they? Promising to support me for the top seat, even sending your own daughter to seduce me. But after you found out Sang Mo was SSS-level, and saw that I’d offended him, you recalled Diller without a moment’s hesitation. You couldn’t wait to kick me to the curb and find a new host to leech off of. With that kind of efficiency, are you telling me this wasn’t your plan all along? That you weren’t just waiting to see who could bring your family more profit? Now that you see I’m about to be defeated, you’re already rushing to suck up to someone else.”

Moerde showed no sign of panic or embarrassment at being exposed. Instead, he replied with shameless frankness, “It’s only natural for people to strive for better things. Was it my fault you committed those sins in the first place? Tina is my daughter; of course I want what’s best for her. Sang Mo is SSS-level. Our family’s strongest, Diller, is only at the Peak of SS Level. When you know you can’t win, cutting your losses is the only smart move. Diller protected you for half a month. That was more than generous! If not for him, Sang Mo would have killed you at the very start!”

Hades burst into derisive laughter. “HA HA HA! ‘More than generous’? HAHAHAHA! Wasn’t it a trade? Your price was the second-in-command position! If I hadn’t promised to make your family my second-in-command after I weathered this storm and became the sole leader of the Black Domain, would you have ever agreed to let Diller protect me? Your family is this calculating, and you still want to pretend you’re the good guys?”

Seeing his hypocrisy laid bare, Moerde showed no remorse. His face flushed with anger. “Regardless of all that, the fact is you hit Tina! Our Tina is about to be bonded, and you’ve marred her face like this! You did it on purpose to humiliate her! So don’t blame us for disregarding our past relationship!”

Hades retorted, “The moment you recalled Diller and immediately found Tina a new Beast Husband, you destroyed any relationship we had. If you want a fight, then let’s fight! Don’t act like a saint when you’re playing the whore!”

Hearing Hades’s words, Moerde’s expression darkened instantly. “Then don’t you dare say we’re kicking a man when he’s down and ignoring our past ties!”

With that, he thrust his right hand forward in a wave, and all the men behind him instantly surged toward Hades.

Hades said nothing, but a strange smile curled on his lips.

Although Hades was only an S-Class, his faction had once come close to killing Sang Mo when he was SS-level. Naturally, they had some unsavory secrets up their sleeves. Otherwise, Hades wouldn’t have dared to seek him out with the intention of mutual destruction.

Hades’s power level had barely changed over his years in the Black Domain. While the men Moerde brought weren’t particularly High-level, they had numbers on their side. Most of Hades’s own men had been killed recently, and the survivors had all fled.

Moerde was furious. He couldn’t believe Hades had been hiding such a weapon. He immediately turned to Diller. “Diller, you’re up. He’s gotten far too arrogant! Teach him a lesson!”

Then, he lowered his voice and added, “Try to make him hand over whatever he just threw. If we had that, it would be another ace up our sleeve for survival.”

Diller’s brow furrowed slightly. He didn’t approve of such tactics, but he owed his current power level to the support of his entire clan. He had promised long ago to help whenever his clan needed him.

‘Although the method isn’t exactly honorable,’ he thought, ‘Moerde is right. Getting our hands on that weapon would be a huge benefit to the clan, with no downside.’

Diller gave a slight nod.

Seeing Diller step forward, the others all fell back.

When Hades saw Diller, his eyes darkened and his expression soured.

‘Diller saved my life quite a few times recently. If I had a choice, I really wouldn’t want to fight him.’

‘Besides, I know I’m no match for him in a straight fight. And since he just saw my little trick, he’ll be on guard. It won’t be easy to pull it off again.’

‘Even though I couldn’t hear what Moerde whispered to him, I could tell from Diller’s reluctant expression that it wasn’t anything good.’
