Chapter 84: Chapter 84: Sebastian Lancaster to Enter the Company

In the master bedroom on the first floor, the Old Master had been brought back. He lay on the bed, his condition looking dire.

Master Lancaster and his son had also arrived, and they clearly came with ill intentions.

Most of the close relatives from the extended Lancaster family had arrived, each with their own agenda.

’In their eyes, I’m still the same old Silvia Lynch—the weak, pliable woman who was ’bought’ solely to produce an heir for the Lancaster family.’

They just didn’t know that the body of Silvia Lynch had long since received a new ’core.’

"The Old Master is ill, and the Lancaster family cannot be without a leader for a single day. I see no one on his side of the family capable of taking charge. There’s a fool..." Master Lancaster’s voice was low as he shot Sebastian Lancaster a look of disgust. "And an outsider."

’I was the outsider he was referring to.’

Master Lancaster sneered and walked to the bedside. "Big Brother, if you agree to let me take power, just give a nod. I will make the Lancaster Group more prosperous than ever."

The Old Master looked furious. But unfortunately... he could only fret helplessly, letting out choked whimpers without forming any words. All he could do was clutch the sheets and glare at Master Lancaster.

"The Old Master must not be agitated," Assistant Foster said in a low voice.

"I’d say that means my big brother agrees." Master Lancaster was deliberately calling a deer a horse, making it clear he intended to seize power by force.

"Who says Grandpa agreed?" I entered the bedroom and walked to the Old Master’s side. "Grandpa, everything the Lancaster family owns, including the shares of the Lancaster Group, will be passed down to the child in my womb. This is the Lancaster bloodline, our heir. Right?"

The Old Master glanced at me, his eyes filled with surprise and astonishment, but he still gave a reluctant nod.

The expression on Master Lancaster’s face turned grim.

His son’s threat was even colder. "You’re just a woman. I suggest you do things the easy way instead of the hard way. Be careful, or you might not be able to deliver that baby at all."

The Old Master glared furiously at Brandon Lancaster, his mouth agape as if trying to curse him out.

’Suddenly, I found the Old Master of the Lancaster family to be a rather tragic figure. He was a titan his entire life, and now he can only lie in bed. What good is all his money, power, and influence now?’

"For a grown man, every other word out of your mouth is a threat against a woman. I guess that’s the extent of your abilities." I looked at Brandon Lancaster, my eyes showing not a single trace of fear.

’No matter how terrifying these people are, could they be worse than that serial killer?’

"Hah..." Brandon Lancaster seemed surprised by my defiance. He sneered and took a step forward.

’Now that the Old Master was bedridden and helpless, he was certainly bold enough to try something.’

Just as I retreated a step, Sebastian Lancaster moved to stand in front of me. He was already tall, and his presence brought an inexplicable sense of security.

Brandon Lancaster frowned, looking at Sebastian Lancaster. "You, a fool, want to protect her? Hah..."

Sebastian Lancaster said nothing, merely fixing Brandon Lancaster with a profound gaze.

Brandon Lancaster’s brow furrowed, as if he could feel an oppressive aura emanating from Sebastian.

For a man like him, who had spent years hanging around gang halls, brawling, and committing all sorts of evil, to actually be intimidated by the aura of a fool... it was baffling.

Sebastian Lancaster had always been a man of few words, likely because his throat had been injured in the past, leaving his voice rather hoarse.

But when he got serious, he was truly terrifying.

"The Lancaster Group cannot be leaderless for a day. Big Brother, are you planning to let this fool meddle in its affairs, or this woman?" Master Lancaster asked coolly.

"I will take over the company."

’I had been about to say that I would temporarily take charge of the company, but Sebastian Lancaster spoke before I could.’

The moment he said it, everyone was stunned, including me.

The Old Master stared blankly at Sebastian Lancaster, his gaze complex. He whimpered, trying to say something, but the words wouldn’t come out.

I could see it—there was a sliver of terror in his eyes.

’Was he afraid of Sebastian Lancaster?’

"It seems Big Brother isn’t keen on letting a fool take over the company either," Master Lancaster laughed.

I frowned and whispered in the Old Master’s ear, "Grandpa, you don’t want the empire you worked so hard to build to be stolen by a man with a wolf’s ambition, do you?"

The Old Master’s gaze froze. He slowly turned to Assistant Foster and nodded.

’He agreed.’

’He agreed to let Sebastian join the company.’

Master Lancaster shot Brandon Lancaster an angry look and snorted. "A fool. Let’s see how long he can last at the company."

"So, the Old Master would rather hand the company to a fool than spare a single scrap for us?" Outside, the relatives from the branch families were still hoping for a piece of the inheritance.

I glanced at Sebastian Lancaster, giving him a look to reassure him. "I’ll help you."

Sebastian Lancaster didn’t say anything, but he took my hand, keeping me by his side.

"How could the Old Master leave such a huge inheritance to a fool? Is the company something a fool can manage? It’s ridiculous! I think he’s gone senile."

"Did the stroke paralyze his brain, too?"

A clamor erupted outside the door.

Sebastian Lancaster and I walked out and faced them.

"The Old Master is sick, not dead. With proper care, he can recover his ability to speak. The Lancaster family has barely hit a bump in the road, and you’re already circling like vultures for the inheritance?" I asked coldly. "If you break Grandpa’s heart, I guarantee none of you will see a single penny."

The relatives were stunned for a moment, and all eyes turned to me.

They apparently hadn’t expected the supposedly timid and obedient Silvia Lynch to suddenly become so formidable.

"I always thought you were a docile little lamb. It seems... things are more complicated than they appear," Brandon Lancaster sneered, shooting me a look.

The others fell silent and left, following Master Lancaster.

’They hadn’t given up, nor had I scared them off. The real reason was that the Old Master was still hanging on by a thread; he wasn’t dead yet.’

Once everyone was gone, I let out a sigh of relief and looked up at Sebastian Lancaster. "You were too impulsive. What were you thinking, saying you’d take over the company? Do you even know how to manage it? They’ll definitely make things difficult for you. You won’t last a single day."

’I didn’t even need to guess. There must have been a major staff overhaul within the company. Most of them were probably Master Lancaster’s people by now.’

Sebastian Lancaster just looked at me, saying nothing.

’My head started to throb. I still hadn’t sorted out the matter with the serial killer, and now I was being dragged into the Lancaster family’s power struggle.’

"Ma’am, although the Young Master has agreed to join the company, I must remind you that this will not be a simple task," Assistant Foster said, coming out after getting the Old Master settled for a nap.

He glanced at me and pushed his glasses up his nose. "The Lancaster Group is currently working on a project with the Fletcher Group. The person to meet tomorrow is the president of the Fletcher Group, Julian Fletcher. If this deal can be successfully secured, it will help the Young Master establish his authority with the people at the company."

I froze for a second, then subconsciously looked up at Sebastian Lancaster.

Julian Fletcher...

’What a coincidence. Of all people, I have to deal with that madman again.’

Sebastian Lancaster’s expression soured. He glared at Assistant Foster. "Enough..."

’Clearly, he didn’t want me to have any contact with Julian Fletcher.’

But Assistant Foster didn’t seem to understand. "If you can’t secure this deal, sir, it will be very difficult for you to command respect at the company."

This was Sebastian Lancaster’s first step in managing the company—his foot in the door.

"Tomorrow... I’ll go to the company with you." After a moment of silence, I decided I had to help Sebastian Lancaster.

"Don’t," Sebastian Lancaster said, his voice low. He turned and headed upstairs, obviously angry.
