After I Died, the Scumbag Went Mad
Chapter 77: Sebastian Lancaster Isn’t a Fool?
Chapter 77: Chapter 77: Sebastian Lancaster Isn’t a Fool?
Not only was everyone present shocked, but even I was stunned.
’How did he get out...’
Asher’s clothes were well-fitted today, as if he had been meticulously styled.
He was already handsome, but leaning there now, he looked like the dangerously possessive male lead straight out of a novel.
Ken Abbott was clearly intimidated by Sebastian Lancaster. "You..." he asked nervously. "Who are you?"
None of them had ever seen Sebastian Lancaster looking like this, so naturally, they didn’t recognize him.
Sebastian Lancaster walked to my side, grabbed my wrist, and pulled me into his arms. He wore a wild, provocative smile. "I’m her husband."
’It felt like he could kill Ken Abbott in the very next second.’
Ken Abbott swallowed, clearly terrified. He looked fearfully at Sebastian Lancaster, then glanced over at Noelle Lynch?
Noelle Lynch was also dumbfounded, her eyes scanning the classmates around them.
"Sebastian Lancaster? Is that the heir of the Lancaster family? That can’t be right. Wasn’t he supposed to be a lunatic?"
"Yeah, how can he be so handsome? God... he’s even better-looking than a celebrity."
The classmates began to whisper amongst themselves.
I glanced at the class president, Howard Finch. The moment he saw Sebastian Lancaster, he hid behind the crowd.
’What is he hiding from? He’s afraid of Asher.’
"I’m sorry, my husband has been sick. We didn’t think he’d be able to make it today, but he insisted on coming with me to see you, Teacher," I stepped forward to explain.
Our teacher looked at me, pleased, her eyes welling up as she nodded. "Good, that’s good. Silvia, as long as I know you’re doing well, I can rest easy."
Sebastian Lancaster took my hand and led me to our teacher’s side, becoming well-behaved once more. "You must rest well," he said gently. "You’ll get better."
"What a good boy." The teacher looked at Sebastian Lancaster, moved and pleased. "So handsome, too. You and Silvia are a match made in heaven."
Sebastian Lancaster looked at me, his deep eyes full of mirth.
For a moment, I was in a daze.
’In the end... which one is the real him?’
"Impossible... He can’t be Sebastian Lancaster!" Feeling slighted, Ken Abbott was clearly displeased.
He was supposed to be the center of attention, but the moment Sebastian Lancaster arrived, all eyes were on him.
Even Noelle Lynch’s eyes were filled with amazement.
Of course, he couldn’t stand it.
I raised an eyebrow at Ken Abbott, then glanced at Noelle Lynch.
She was staring dazedly at Sebastian Lancaster, likely regretting that she hadn’t been the one to marry into the Lancaster family.
I sneered. ’So now you regret it?’
"So, I’m not Sebastian Lancaster? Then who is? You?" Sebastian Lancaster’s voice was low as he pulled me protectively behind him.
I looked up at him. Even though I knew he only saw me as a "doll," a substitute for Cecilia Caldwell, I still goddamn loved this feeling of being protected.
Before I died, I had always longed for the day Julian Fletcher would protect me, shield me, and give me a home.
But he never did.
"Heh, Silvia, you really pulled out all the stops for this reunion, didn’t you? Everyone knows Sebastian Lancaster is an idiot, a lunatic. If you’re going to hire an actor, at least find a convincing one. That can’t be Sebastian Lancaster," Ken Abbott sneered. "I’ve been to the Lancaster estate before. I’ve seen Sebastian Lancaster myself—he was just a filthy, raving lunatic."
"Yeah, Silvia, how could you hire someone to pretend to be your husband?" other classmates chimed in.
I sneered. "Do I really need your help to recognize my own husband? That’s ridiculous."
"What’s all the arguing about?" Another group of people walked in from the doorway.
I frowned, instantly on guard. The fingers gripping Sebastian’s arm slowly tightened.
They weren’t students from my class, but from one our teacher had taught before—Julian Fletcher’s year.
And Erin Whittaker and Julian Fletcher were among those former students.
Back then, my parents hadn’t had their car accident, I hadn’t gone to live with the Fletcher family, and I hadn’t transferred schools yet.
By the time I transferred to his school, Julian Fletcher had already graduated long ago.
"Teacher." Julian Fletcher walked over to her, bringing a gift.
Our teacher said, pleased, "I didn’t expect you all to be able to make it."
Erin Whittaker kept her arm linked with Julian Fletcher’s.
Although Julian Fletcher’s attitude was cold, Erin Whittaker’s face was indeed beaming with happiness.
I couldn’t tell if it was because she was far enough along or if she was flaunting it, but despite being only a few months pregnant, Erin Whittaker was already showing quite a bit.
The entire time, Julian Fletcher and Erin Whittaker completely ignored Sebastian and me.
Seeing that I was staring at Julian Fletcher, Sebastian Lancaster squeezed my hand, slowly tightening his grip.
I felt an inexplicable fear. When he got like this, his possessiveness was terrifying.
I felt that he, just like Julian Fletcher, was trying to brand me as his own.
"Julian, you’re a senior, you must have seen Sebastian Lancaster before. Silvia brought this guy here today, insisting he’s Sebastian Lancaster. You should take a look and see if he’s an imposter," a female classmate approached Julian to flirt.
Only then did Julian Fletcher turn to glance at Sebastian and me.
My brow furrowed as I watched Julian Fletcher, my expression full of wariness.
He gave me a single, cold glance before subtly extricating his arm from Erin Whittaker’s grasp. "I’ve never met Sebastian Lancaster. I don’t know him."
I sneered, looking at Erin Whittaker. "Mr. Fletcher, is this your fiancée?"
Julian Fletcher remained silent, offering no reply.
Erin, however, grew anxious and blurted out, "Yes, we’ve already had our wedding."
I feigned a look of sudden realization. "Your name is Cecilia Caldwell?"
The color drained from Erin Whittaker’s face, her eyes showing a flash of panic. "What are you talking about..."
I sneered. "Did I hear wrong? I seem to recall hearing that Julian Fletcher’s mother arranged his engagement long ago. To a fiancée named Cecilia Caldwell, wasn’t it?"
Julian Fletcher frowned at me, his look clearly accusing me of stirring up trouble.
I was determined to make them both miserable. "So, Mr. Fletcher, what about that fiancée of yours? The one named Cecilia Caldwell?"
Julian Fletcher stared at me, his eyes radiating a palpable threat.
Sebastian glanced down at me, and—it wasn’t my imagination—he was actually smiling.
There was even a hint of indulgence in it.
Something felt strange, but I couldn’t put my finger on what.
"Silvia, why are you bringing up such morbid things for no reason? Everyone in Meridia knows that Cecilia Caldwell girl was just like a sister to Mr. Fletcher, and besides, she was murdered by that serial killer. You..." Noelle Lynch was trying to score points with Julian Fletcher, since he had always despised Cecilia Caldwell.
But before Noelle Lynch could finish, Julian Fletcher shot her a look that could kill.
Startled by Julian’s reaction, Noelle belatedly tried to suck up to Erin Whittaker instead. "Besides, that Cecilia Caldwell girl had a rotten reputation. The killer probably targeted her for a reason."
"What’s your name?" Julian Fletcher asked, his voice low and dangerous.
"Senior, my name is Noelle Lynch, from the Lynn—" Noelle began with a smile, still thinking she had managed to curry favor with Julian.
"Does the Lynn family want to disappear from Meridia?" The pressure emanating from Julian was terrifying.
"Ah, it’s so great you seniors could make it! Come, come, please have a seat, have a seat." Seeing the situation spiraling out of control, the class president, Howard Finch, couldn’t keep dodging anymore. He hurried forward to placate Julian. "Noelle speaks without thinking, Senior. Please don’t take it to heart."
After saying that, Howard shot an unhappy look at Noelle. "Cecilia Caldwell was a good girl."
’He seemed to know the me from before. He sounded truly sincere when he spoke up for me.’
But I had no memory of any interactions with the people from the orphanage.
I subconsciously glanced back at Sebastian. His gaze was also fixed on the class president, so intense it could have burned a hole right through him.
