After I Died, the Scumbag Went Mad
Chapter 137: Asher’s Superb Acting
Chapter 137: Chapter 137: Asher’s Superb Acting
I didn’t say anything, but for now, I was still willing to believe Asher.
If he didn’t care, how many people would be willing to take a knife for someone else? That could have killed him.
"Cece... it hurts so much. It’s all his fault. If he hadn’t taken you out, I wouldn’t have gotten hurt. He’s a bad person." Asher hugged me, shooting a warning look at Lucas Grant. "Don’t go out alone with him anymore, okay?"
"Okay." I nodded. Of course I was going to agree with him right now.
"Sebastian Lancaster, it’s a real waste you’re not an actor..." Lucas Grant cursed through gritted teeth. "You psycho, you lunatic!"
Frustrated, Lucas Grant kicked the trash can by the door.
"Cece... he’s being mean to me," Asher said pitifully. "Doctor, I think he has... what’s it called... intermittent explosive disorder."
The doctor frowned and looked at Lucas Grant. "Sir, you’ve damaged hospital property. Please compensate us for it. If there’s nothing else, please leave."
I was also a little displeased. "Lucas Grant, if there’s nothing else, you can leave."
Lucas Grant opened his mouth, but in the end, all he could do was point an angry finger at Asher. "Just keep up your act. No one can out-act you..."
With that, he turned and left.
’They’re clearly not in the same league.’
"Cece... it hurts," Asher cried out in sudden fear while hugging me.
I looked at the doctor nervously. "Doctor, can you please be a little gentler? He’s scared of pain."
The doctor pushed up his glasses, pausing the hand holding the cotton ball. "Why don’t you take a look and see if I’ve even touched him? Besides, the nurse already gave him a local anesthetic. It shouldn’t hurt."
’He started yelling before he was even touched.’
I gave an awkward laugh. "Sorry..."
"Luckily, the wound isn’t deep. After I stitch it up, he’ll need an IV drip for a few days," the doctor instructed as he sutured the wound. "Don’t let it get wet, and just wipe off the bloodstains on his body."
I nodded seriously.
Asher lay against me, sobbing quietly.
"Does it hurt a lot?" I asked in a low voice. I was surprised to feel a pang of sympathy for him.
Asher’s eyes were red. "Cece, I’m so thirsty."
"He just lost a lot of blood, so don’t let him drink too much water at once. I’ll prescribe some oral glucose solution. Go get it from the pharmacy and let him have a little first," the doctor instructed.
I nodded and quickly got up. "You wait here. I’ll go get it for you."
Asher nodded.
I ran out of the treatment room. I was almost at the first-floor pharmacy when I realized I’d been in such a hurry that I’d forgotten my phone.
I rushed back to get it. The elevator was too crowded, so I had to run to the emergency exit and take the stairs.
Asher was on the third floor. Just as I reached the second floor, I heard a loud THUD, followed by a miserable scream.
I froze for a second. ’Did someone fall down the stairs?’
I was about to go up and see when I saw Asher... holding a club in his hand. With a cold expression, he walked down the steps toward a bruised and swollen man on the ground... and viciously swung it down.
His expression was so cold.
His face was pale from blood loss, which only made his eyes look even more sinister.
"Please, spare me! Master Lancaster sent me to keep an eye on you and Miss Lynch. He said as long as I got rid of the child in her belly... I haven’t done anything yet! I haven’t laid a hand on her! Spare me!" the man begged, kneeling on the ground.
I stood there, stunned. ’Is this Asher? Am I seeing things? Just a moment ago, he was crying in pain from getting stitches.’
"Touch her, and you die." Asher raised the club, his eyes filled with a frigid, deadly aura and killing intent.
’I had a strange feeling he was about to kill someone...’
"Asher..." I called his name softly, afraid I had misjudged the situation.
Asher’s body, his back still to me, stiffened. I couldn’t see his expression, but his silhouette was dark and terrifying.
He dropped the club. The moment he turned around, his eyes were red-rimmed, and he burst into tears. "Cece... I’m scared... He was following me and hitting me..."
With that, Asher frantically crouched on the floor. With the other man’s blood on his face, he looked innocent and pitiful.
My heart clenched. ’I must have been seeing things. This man must have provoked Asher, causing him to lose control and fight back.’
"Don’t be scared, don’t be scared..." I rushed forward and hugged Asher.
The man who had fallen down the stairs stared at Asher with a look of pure shock and disbelief, as if he’d seen a monster. He scrambled to his feet and tried to run.
The nurse, unable to find Asher, pushed open the stairwell door and saw the blood-covered man. "What happened to you?"
Asher glanced back. With just one look from him, the man stammered in panic, "I... I fell down the stairs... down the stairs."
After saying that, he pushed past the nurse and ran off.
The nurse didn’t pay him any mind and looked at Asher. "It’s time for your IV drip. What are you running around for?"
Asher hugged me, looking aggrieved. "Cece, I’m not thirsty anymore. I’m scared. Don’t leave me."
Asher trembled in my arms. I held him tighter, feeling guilty. "I won’t go. Assistant Foster will be here soon. We’ll have him get it. I’ll stay with you."
Asher nodded obediently. "Cece has to stay with me always. Don’t ever leave me again."
I nodded. "I won’t leave you again."
After coaxing him back to the hospital room, I went to the restroom to wet a towel, intending to wipe his hands. When I came out, I heard Asher talking quietly with the nurse.
Asher seemed to be in a good mood, smiling obediently at the young nurse the whole time. "You’re so gentle, Nurse."
The young nurse was so flattered she was practically swooning. "Oh my, this handsome man is just so charming."
"Could you do me a favor, Nurse, and tell my wife that my wound means I can’t get out of bed, so she has to take good care of me?" Asher asked obediently.
The young nurse, delighted by his sweet-talking, nodded magnanimously. "No problem."
She turned and saw me. "The patient’s wound was just sutured. He shouldn’t get out of bed or walk around for a while."
’At that moment, I still hadn’t realized what Asher was up to...’
After Owen Foster delivered the glucose, the red date and black chicken soup, and the steamed jujube cakes, Asher started trying to get rid of him. "Assistant Foster, I think you can go home now."
"Your health is what’s most important, sir." Owen Foster was still worried.
Asher spoke again. "I think family reunions are more important. I can’t take advantage of your personal time, Assistant Foster."
"..." Assistant Foster glanced at Asher. He obviously didn’t have a family...
The very reason he had become Master Lancaster’s trusted confidant was that he was an orphan with no background, no ambition, and no family.
Assistant Foster gave me an awkward look over his shoulder. "I’ll be leaving then. My apologies for the trouble, ma’am."
I nodded. "It’s my duty."
Assistant Foster reached the door, then remembered something. "Oh, the police sent word. The man who tried to kill you confessed, ma’am. He said he was hired by Brandon Lancaster’s confidant, Hugh Carter. Carter has been arrested, but he hasn’t implicated Master Lancaster or Brandon Lancaster."
Asher was silent for a long time before saying innocently, "Assistant Foster, could you have someone take care of the weeds in my backyard? They’ll affect the flowers. Make sure to pull them out by the roots, or they’ll just grow back."
Assistant Foster took a deep breath. "Yes, sir."
Not long after Assistant Foster left, Asher looked at me pitifully. "Cece... the doctor won’t let me get out of bed."
"I know. Just hang in there and stay in bed. I’ll get you whatever you need." I hadn’t yet caught on to his little scheme.
"Cece, I have to pee..."
"..." ’Maybe I should just let him hold it until he bursts.’
