Chapter 294: Laying a Trap for Shannon Everett, Get Ready for Jail
Chapter 294: Chapter 294: Laying a Trap for Shannon Everett, Get Ready for Jail
By the time they left the police station, the sky was already bright.
Given Julian Forrester and Sienna Everett’s status, the chief of police personally saw them out.
Mason Everett and his brothers had been waiting anxiously outside the police station.
When they finally saw Sienna Everett emerge, Lucas Everett immediately bolted toward her.
But upon seeing Julian Forrester next to Sienna Everett, Lucas stopped in his tracks, his heart inexplicably seizing with fear. ’Logically speaking,’ he thought, ’if Julian really has won Sienna over, he’ll be my brother-in-law. I shouldn’t be afraid of him.’
’But... how could I not be afraid of him!’
’This is so pathetic!’
While cursing himself for being a coward, Lucas was also worried about Sienna and Isabelle. Gritting his teeth, he mustered his courage and ran over. "Sienna, how did it go? Did the police say what the sentence will be?"
Sienna’s expression was cold. "They’ll be sentenced according to the law."
The implication was clear: there would be no leniency.
Afraid of being misunderstood, Lucas quickly waved his hands. "I’m not here to plead their case! Mom and Dad did something so wrong, and they almost hurt Isabelle..."
The mere thought of it made Lucas want to explode with rage. He was both heartbroken and furious at his parents’ incorrigibility. He would never plead their case.
"Isabelle, are you... feeling any better now?" Lucas asked gingerly.
"I’m much better now!" Isabelle Sutton nodded. She had mostly recovered by now. With the people who hurt her arrested and facing justice, she felt a great sense of relief.
Lucas relaxed upon seeing this. He had been worried she would remain distraught, and it would be terrible if the experience left her with lasting trauma.
After Sienna, Julian, and Isabelle had left, Wyatt Everett immediately ran over and demanded that Lucas repeat his conversation with Sienna word for word.
After finishing his repetition, Lucas couldn’t resist gloating. "What can I say? You guys are such wimps you don’t even dare approach Sienna. What good are any of you!"
Wyatt hauled off and punched him. "Like you’re so brave!"
Lucas immediately had a brand new black eye.
"All right, you two, stop fighting! Let’s get down to business," Dustin Everett said hesitantly. "About Mom and Dad going to prison... are we just going to stand by and watch?"
Rubbing his fresh black eye, Lucas’s expression turned severe. "As their children, who would want to see their parents in prison? But Mom and Dad are still utterly unrepentant. Are we supposed to rescue them just so they can continue to cause trouble?"
Wyatt’s brows knitted together. "He’s right. We can’t let them hurt Sienna again, no matter what."
Miles Everett nodded in agreement.
Mason Everett, however, was thinking further ahead. ’It’s not just a matter of not wanting to help,’ he mused. ’Even if we wanted to, with Sienna and Julian in the picture, we don’t have the power to go against them and get Mom and Dad out of prison.’
...
After dropping Isabelle Sutton off at her home, Sienna was still a bit uneasy. She turned to Julian Forrester and said, "You should head back. I’m going to stay and keep Isabelle company for a while."
Julian understood her concern. He nodded slightly and left Leon Stone and a few bodyguards downstairs to protect them.
But Julian didn’t leave right away. Instead, he called and ordered some breakfast to be delivered.
’His wife had been busy all night, with no sleep and no rest. Now that it was morning, she had to eat something.’
Once upstairs, Sienna told Isabelle to go take a hot shower. She’d been on edge all night and needed to relax.
"That’s exactly what I was thinking!" Isabelle said, gathering a change of clothes. "Sienna, make yourself comfortable!"
With that, she carried her clothes into the bathroom.
While Isabelle was in the shower, Sienna received a text from Julian: [Open the door.]
Sienna was taken aback. She got up, hurried to the door, and opened it. Seeing Julian standing outside, she blinked in confusion. "Why are you back?"
Julian held up a paper bag. "I bought you two some breakfast. Make sure you eat later."
Sienna took the bag and peeked inside. ’Wow.’ In addition to her favorites, he’d bought a huge assortment of other breakfast items. There was no way she and Isabelle could finish it all, even if they ate until they burst.
After putting the breakfast on the table, Sienna hurried back to the door. She gazed at his handsome, otherworldly face and suddenly sighed. "Sigh. I’m feeling a little conflicted."
Julian pulled her closer, asking softly, "What is it?"
Sienna pursed her lips, her lashes drooping. "I was thinking about Isabelle... Morgan Everett wanted to use her to threaten me. If it weren’t for me, Isabelle wouldn’t have gone through all that... Maybe I shouldn’t get so close to people. Maybe I shouldn’t make friends at all. That way I wouldn’t drag anyone else into my problems..."
The words had barely left her mouth when Julian leaned down, bringing his eyes level with hers. His gaze was earnest and intense. "Sienna, look at me."
Sienna’s long lashes trembled, and she couldn’t help but meet his gaze.
His dark, profound eyes were filled with her reflection, and he looked at her with such reverence, as if she were his entire world.
He placed his hands on her thin, slender shoulders, his voice both gentle and firm.
"Sienna, this has nothing to do with you. The ones who are wrong are the Everetts. They’re the ones who did this evil thing for their own selfish reasons."
He gazed into her clear eyes, his voice exuding a profoundly convincing and soothing aura. "Sienna, you haven’t done anything wrong. You don’t need to blame yourself, and you don’t need to limit your life because of them. Do you understand?"
A warmth spread through Sienna’s eyes.
Unable to hold back, she threw her arms around him.
Julian pulled her into his embrace, kissing the top of her head with tenderness. "Trust me. Our Sienna is a truly good person. Don’t doubt yourself, all right?"
Sienna wrapped her arms around his lean waist, pressing her head against his warm chest. The steady, powerful rhythm of his heartbeat echoed in her ears.
With each beat, the self-reproach in her heart was magically soothed away.
’He always knows how to pull me out of these dark moods when I’m feeling low...’
After hugging for a moment, Sienna pulled away from Julian. Blinking her glistening eyes at him, she couldn’t stop herself from saying, "You’re really, really wonderful too. I mean it."
He lowered his gaze and chuckled, exuding a casual sexiness.
Sienna felt a little embarrassed after her own words. She touched her earlobe and gently pushed him toward the door. "You haven’t slept all night either. Go home and get some rest."
Julian reached out and ruffled her hair. "Call me if you need anything."
"Okay, I will."
"Don’t forget to eat breakfast."
"I know, I know. Stop nagging."
’Nagging?’
Julian raised an eyebrow, his tone laced with amusement. "What’s that supposed to mean? Are you tired of me already? Is this a ’use me and lose me’ situation?"
Sienna batted her eyelashes. "Of course not! I’m not done with you yet! One more hug!"
With that, she lunged forward and gave him another quick hug before letting go. "Okay, no more fooling around. Go get some rest. Drive safe, and I’ll call you later."
...
Sienna laid the breakfast out on the dining table.
When Isabelle came out of the shower, her eyes widened at the sight of the lavish breakfast spread on the table. "Sienna, did you go out and buy all this?"
A second later, she realized. "I know! Mr. Forrester sent it, didn’t he!"
Sienna smiled and beckoned to her. "Hurry up and eat."
Isabelle ran over with a squeal. "Oh my God! I can’t believe I’m eating breakfast bought by Mr. Forrester himself. No one would ever believe this!"
Sienna: "..."
’Is she being a little dramatic?’
He had bought a lot of food, and they both ate their fill.
After breakfast, Sienna checked her phone for the time. "We didn’t get any sleep last night. Want to catch up on some rest?"
Isabelle yawned, looking at Sienna with sleepy eyes. "Sienna, are you tired? Can we nap together?"
"Okay." Sienna wasn’t particularly tired, but she wanted to keep Isabelle company.
The two girls lay down on the bed together. Isabelle turned on her side and scooted closer. "Sienna, you smell so good. Can I cuddle with you?"
"Of course." Sienna hugged Isabelle and spoke to her softly.
Isabelle was truly exhausted and drifted off to sleep after just a few words.
Sienna reached out to stroke Isabelle’s hair. ’She seems to have moved past what happened last night,’ Sienna thought, ’but I wonder if she’ll have nightmares.’
Because of this, Sienna remained awake, carefully watching over Isabelle.
If Isabelle did have a nightmare, Sienna wanted to be there to wake her up right away.
After a little while, her phone vibrated with a text from Evan Shelby: [Are you absolutely sure about signing the share transfer agreement with Shannon Everett today?]
Careful not to wake Isabelle, Sienna quietly typed her reply: [Positive.]
Evan asked cautiously: [What if Shannon doesn’t agree?]
Sienna: [She’ll agree.]
’Now that she no longer has Morgan Everett and Sheila Whitaker to protect her, Shannon will be afraid of being targeted by Mason and Wyatt. She’ll be desperate to swallow up the Everett Family’s assets and run away with the money.’
Evan was floored: [Seriously? You’ve calculated all that? All right, I’ll have someone notify Shannon!]
...
「The Everett Estate.」
Shannon Everett paced irritably around her room, her heart filled with anxiety. She was trying to figure out a way to sign the share transfer agreement with the Starlight Consortium ahead of schedule.
Suddenly, she got a call from Manager Felicity Thorne of the Starlight Consortium.
Shannon was taken aback. Starlight Consortium’s corporate headquarters were in Elysia, and this Felicity Thorne was the general manager of its Celestria Branch.
Shannon answered suspiciously, "Hello, Manager Thorne?"
A capable, professional female voice came from the other end of the line. "Miss Everett, my apologies, but a director from our Starlight Consortium headquarters has made a surprise visit to the Celestria Branch for an inspection. Regarding the share transfer agreement we’ve been discussing, I was wondering if we might be able to sign it early? If you’re free today, would it be possible to move the signing to today?"
Shannon was inwardly ecstatic. This was a godsend.
Still, Shannon maintained an air of composure. "Sign it early?"
Felicity Thorne replied, "Yes, Miss Everett. We’ve already agreed on the exact price for the shares. Moving up the signing date is the only change; it won’t affect anything else, right? Of course, as a gesture of apology for the inconvenience, we will increase the original price by ten percent."
When Shannon heard "increase by ten percent," she was overcome with ecstasy, but she managed to keep her voice calm. "Very well. I’m not in a particular rush, but since you’re in a bind, I can accommodate you. Let’s sign today."
’As soon as I sell these shares and get the money today, I’m getting out of here immediately!’
