Chapter 223: Chapter 223: My Brother Misses You. Paying the Deserved Price.
Sienna Everett walked to a nearby hallway to take Ian Prescott’s call.
"Hey, Sienna. I just watched your variety show livestream. It was brilliant. I learned a lot from you," Ian Prescott said, his voice tinged with a smile.
Sienna Everett had a sudden realization. "No wonder you called the second I finished recording. You were watching the livestream the whole time and called the moment it ended, weren’t you?"
"Of course. I couldn’t miss your show."
"...Thanks." Sienna Everett scratched her head, feeling a bit embarrassed. She then asked, "By the way, is Ophelia Warren related to the Prescott Family?"
Ian Prescott didn’t hide anything. "I looked into Ophelia Warren’s background," he said honestly. "She grew up in an orphanage, and her age matches my sister’s. However, we haven’t done a DNA test yet."
"Also, when I saw Ophelia Warren, I didn’t feel that sense of familial connection..."
So he was inclined to believe that Ophelia Warren probably wasn’t related to the Prescott Family—she wasn’t his long-lost sister.
"I see." Sienna Everett paused, then said sincerely, "In any case, I hope you can find your sister soon."
Ian Prescott chuckled. "I’ll take that as a blessing."
Sienna Everett smiled back. They chatted for a few more moments before she hung up.
But as soon as she hung up, a call came in from Keith Sterling.
Sienna Everett swiped the screen to answer. "Hello? What’s up?"
"Sis-in-law, who were you just on the phone with? I tried calling you, but the line was busy!" Keith Sterling sounded like a fortune-teller, speaking with an air of mystery. "I’ve done my calculations, and I’m certain you weren’t on the phone with my big bro, right?"
Sienna Everett was stunned, her eyes widening slightly. "How did you know?"
Keith Sterling was incredibly smug, a devil-may-care grin spreading across his face. "Sierra, just tell me, was I right or was I right? Am I a psychic or what!"
"...Fine, fine, you were right. So tell me, how did you know I wasn’t on the phone with your brother?"
"Because my bro has been right next to me this whole time, and his phone never rang, HAHAHAHA!" Keith Sterling laughed so hard his grin nearly reached the back of his head. If he had a tail, it would definitely be wagging happily.
Sienna Everett: "..."
’Damn it, how did I fall for such a simple trick!’
’And here I was thinking the guy could actually tell fortunes!’
Keith Sterling was rolling with laughter, his stomach starting to hurt. "So, Sierra, who were you on the phone with? I’m on speakerphone now, so let my bro listen in~~"
Sienna Everett: "..."
’I give up. This guy is unbelievable.’
"No one important. Ian Prescott called, we just chatted for a bit." Sienna Everett had nothing to hide, nor did she want to hide anything from Julian Forrester.
"Oh, so it was Ian Prescott~" Keith Sterling said with a grin. "Well, Sis-in-law, since you’re done recording, hurry on out! My bro and I came especially to pick you up! We’re waiting for you right outside the studio building!"
Sienna Everett: "?"
’What?’
’Julian Forrester came to pick me up?’
’There are so many people coming and going. What if someone sees us!’
"Why did you guys come?" Sienna Everett asked, already hurrying toward the dressing room to grab her things and meet them.
"Well, you know, my bro wanted to come pick you up! He missed you..."
Keith Sterling was mid-sentence when the phone seemed to be snatched away. Immediately after, Sienna Everett heard Julian Forrester’s deep, magnetic voice. "Keith and I are waiting for you outside."
"Okay, I get it. I’ll be right out," Sienna Everett said before hanging up.
Just as she reached the dressing room door, she ran into a smiling Ophelia Warren.
"Sienna, hello."
"Hello." ’She and Ophelia Warren barely know each other,’ Sienna Everett thought, puzzled, ’so why does she keep calling me Sienna?’
Ophelia Warren raised a hand, elegantly tucking a stray strand of hair behind her ear. "Sienna, I’ve read about you online. I think you’re amazing; you know so much."
"Thanks, you know a lot too." Sienna Everett was well-versed in the art of exchanging pleasantries. "The landscape painting you posted on X the other day was very well done."
Ophelia Warren lowered her gaze, a gentle smile playing on her lips. She suddenly looked up and asked, "Do you resent me because of my relationship with Miles Everett?"
Upon hearing this, the corners of Sienna Everett’s bright eyes lifted slightly, a glint in them. "Your relationship with Miles Everett is your business. I don’t pay attention to it."
The smile on Ophelia Warren’s lips didn’t change.
Only when Sienna Everett’s figure disappeared into the dressing room did the smile on Ophelia Warren’s face slowly fade. She took out her phone and dialed a number.
The call connected quickly.
Ophelia Warren’s voice was still soft. "Uncle Dunn, I met Sienna Everett in person today."
A middle-aged man’s voice, tinged with weariness, came from the other end of the line. "What was your impression?"
Ophelia Warren stared in the direction of the dressing room, recalling Sienna Everett’s performance on the show today, as well as her past achievements and various secret identities.
"She certainly does know a lot, but..." Ophelia Warren laughed, her tone ambiguous. "That just makes me more interested."
The middle-aged man instructed, "Ophelia, I’ve trained you for so many years. You’re no less than Sienna Everett. Beating her will be an easy task. Go on, make her pay the price she deserves."
"I know, Uncle Dunn."
Ophelia Warren hung up and saw the contact name on the screen: a single surname, Dunn.
After looking at it for a moment, Ophelia Warren put the phone back in her pocket, a beautiful, gentle smile gracing her lips.
「Inside the dressing room.」
Orion Hawthorne spotted Sienna Everett and sighed wearily, too tired to even think about bickering. "I have a commercial shoot in a bit, so I have to leave now."
Sienna Everett knew he was always busy, his schedule packed every day. She waved her hand. "Go on, then."
"Are you going back by yourself?" Orion Hawthorne asked.
"Someone’s coming to pick me up."
Orion Hawthorne started to ask who was picking her up, but before the words left his mouth, he guessed it. It was either Keith Sterling or... Julian Forrester.
Orion Hawthorne gave her a deep look, then turned and walked out, giving her a cool wave without looking back. "Later."
Sienna Everett replied with a sound of acknowledgment, quickly packed her things, and ran out of the studio building.
She had just found Keith Sterling’s car in the parking lot when Rowan Rhodes came chasing after her.
"Sierra!"
Rowan Rhodes jogged over, the tips of his fair ears slightly pink. He looked at Sienna Everett with clear, puppy-dog eyes full of admiration. "Sierra, can I get your autograph?"
"Of course!" Sienna Everett was quite happy about it, her beautiful eyes crinkling with a smile. "Where should I sign?"
"On this photo, please!" Rowan Rhodes took out a photograph like it was a precious treasure.
Sienna Everett took it and looked. ’Well, I’ll be,’ she thought. It was a photo of her and Rowan Rhodes together on stage from the show just now, probably taken by his assistant in the audience.
’He already got it developed?’
Rowan Rhodes scratched the back of his head shyly. "Sierra, this is kind of our first photo together... I have a marker, you can just sign right on the photo!"
Sienna Everett took the marker and, with a few quick strokes, signed her name in the bottom right corner of the photo, adding the words "Stay happy every day."
’A little blessing for my fan!’
When Rowan Rhodes saw the words "Stay happy every day," his eyes lit up instantly, like a puppy who’d just been given a meaty bone. He was so excited his tail was practically wagging.
"Thank you, Sierra! I’ll be your fan forever!!"
’Sniff... my idol is the best in the world!’
’I’ll protect the best Sierra in the whole world!’
Sienna Everett’s eyes curved into a gentle smile. "Thank you. I’ll be keeping an eye on your work too."
As she spoke, she suddenly felt a gloomy, resentful gaze boring into her back.
Sienna Everett whipped her head around and saw Keith Sterling getting out of the car. He ran toward her, wiping away cold sweat. "Sierra, what are you doing? Why are you chatting so much with a pretty boy? Get in the car, quick, quick."
’My bro’s jealousy tank is about to explode, hey!’
Sienna Everett looked toward the back seat of the car. Even through the tinted window, an image of the man sitting inside instantly flashed through her mind.
’No way. He’s getting jealous over this?’
Rowan Rhodes, of course, recognized Keith Sterling. He knew Keith was the boss of Sovereign Entertainment and Sienna Everett’s boss, but he hadn’t expected the boss himself to come and pick Sienna up personally.
’As expected of my idol, she’s so valued by her boss!’
Sienna Everett turned back to Rowan Rhodes. "I have to go now."
"Okay, Sierra! Be safe on your way home!" Rowan Rhodes waved reluctantly, his innocent puppy-dog eyes filled with unwillingness to see her go.
"You be careful on your way back, too," Sienna Everett replied politely.
As soon as they finished their goodbyes, Keith Sterling hastily pulled Sienna Everett away.
Once in the car, Sienna Everett sat down next to Julian Forrester and, feeling the man’s cold, resentful gaze, she inexplicably swallowed hard.
Samuel Sutton was driving with Keith Sterling in the passenger seat, who craned his neck to look at the back. "Sierra, what’s the deal with that Rowan Rhodes guy? Why were you talking for so long? My bro was watching you two the whole time from the car."
Sienna Everett: "..."
「Meanwhile, on the road outside.」
Seeing Sienna Everett and Keith Sterling get into the same car, Wyatt Everett, Lucas Everett, and Dustin Everett, who had been hiding in a corner, immediately scrambled into their own car.
Wyatt Everett drove, secretly tailing the car Sienna Everett was in.
Dustin Everett asked, conflicted, "Third Brother, is it really okay for us to be secretly following our sister like this?"
Lucas Everett answered, "This way, we can find out where she’s living now."
Wyatt Everett stared at the car ahead carrying Sienna Everett, following it silently. "Yes. Since our sister wants nothing to do with us, this is the only way to find out where she lives."
