Chapter 1949: Act Of Desperation II
Chapter 1949: Act Of Desperation II
Grey remained unmoved, making the Man panic. If he did not stop the Gnome, Grey would end up dead, and if Grey dies, he was certain he would not be able to survive against the Gnome on his own. He knew the reason the Gnome had not taken out his Puppet all this while was for fear of Grey abruptly cutting off his link and incapacitating him for a second. If not for this fear, the Gnome would have definitely dealt with him when they were fighting earlier. Now, he was faced with a dilemma: to use a secret technique to stop the Gnome and be bedridden for a few months, or wait and watch if Grey would be able to create a miracle.
‘What if he’s unable to move?’ As soon as this thought came to his mind, he became drenched in sweat. If the technique Grey was using required him to stay out, then there was no way he would be able to avoid the Gnome’s attack.
The Man came to a decision in the blink of an eye, roaring, his aura spiked as well as he charged forward. He could not allow Grey to receive this attack from the Gnome. Even without taking Grey’s talent or parents into account, the fact that he is able to greatly restrain the Gnomes and even sense their presence meant that he was an invaluable asset to the Human Race and thus should be protected at all costs. He would rather be bedridden for a few months than watch Grey die. Besides, he was confident if he returned without Grey, Lucas would kill him for sure. Among all the Peak Sovereigns present, he was one of the few who had been with Lucas for a relatively long duration and knew just how his mood is.
Everything happened within a quarter of a second, from the Gnome speaking to him with disdain to his dilemma. His reaction was quick and he was able to block the Gnome’s path before he got to Grey.
Transmitting his voice to Grey, he urged, ‘I can’t stay in this state for too long, so please hurry up!’
He was damaging himself as well as his core. If he wanted to avoid unrepairable damage, the sooner he canceled this state the better.
Grey did not expect the Man to step in at the last moment, he was already prepared to use the incomplete fusion orb against the Gnome, however, things were different now. Now he had more time thanks to the Man.
The Gnome was furious when he saw the Man blocking his path, he thought the Man had been scared off and would not try to step in. Who would have thought he would change his mind within a second?
“Fool! You will only end up being my Puppet!” The Gnome was fuming, the golden sphere shrank, becoming something like an armor around him as he crashed into the body of the Man.
The Man did not expect the Gnome to use such an unorthodox move, being caught off-guard, he did not react in time and was sent flying. Realizing he made a mistake, he grabbed onto the Gnome at the last moment, dragging him down with him.
The duo crashed into a mountain, shattering it.
Flying up, they once again started trading blows, but it was clear to see the Gnome was the superior one. The duo fight with much ferocity, meanwhile, Grey decided to further bump up the strength of the fusion orb. After seeing the Gnome’s final desperate act, he knew a five-colored fusion orb would not be enough to end him, a six-colored fusion orb was a totally different matter. He was confident if he used this, there was no way the Gnome would be able to recover from it. Even if the Gnome manages to survive, which is highly unlikely, he did not believe he would be able to continue fighting.
The second the sixth elemental essence began converging with the other five, the space around Grey started to show signs of collapse. A six-colored fusion orb was too strong, especially now that Grey was an Eighth stage Sovereign. Grey noticed this, not batting an eye as he continued to place all his focus on the six-colored fusion orb. Unlike the five-colored one, his control over this one was limited and if he lost focus even for a short second, the consequences would be dire, even for him.
Over the years, he has used the fusion orb to save himself countless times, using it to overcome powerful opponents. Opponents he would not be able to handle using conventional means. This Gnome can be regarded as one of them, and he wanted to make sure the Gnome did not escape.
The mountains around the region had already crumbled from the exchange between the Gnome and the Man. They were still fighting when they suddenly sensed something that made both their hearts skip a bit. Only something that could threaten them could cause such a reaction from them. Simultaneously, they turned to look in the direction of what they sensed and their eyes almost popped out of their heads.
“What is that?!” The Gnome asked in panic. He forgot they were enemies in battle and asked to see if the other party knew what that dangerous strange glowing orb could be.
The Man unconsciously shook his head in reply. Both parties stared at it for a second longer before a bold thought flashed through their heads. Before their bitter battle started, Grey was creating a five-colored fusion orb that they could perceive as a threat then. It might have been enough to be seen as a threat, only they were confident that if given enough time, they could deal with it. This orb was different, at the sight of it, all they saw was death.
The eyes of the Man twitched as he thought to himself, ‘It can’t be that kid’s power could it?’
He found it hard to believe even though he was seeing it with his own eyes. He was a Peak Sovereign, and in his current state, only Half God Plane powerhouses could make him feel dread. This six-colored glowing orb on the other hand gave him a sense of helplessness, a feeling he had not felt unless faced with an overwhelming expert determined to kill him. The last time he felt something like this was hundreds of years ago.
‘How can he be able to wield such power? Isn’t this a little exaggerated?’ The attack was obviously not aimed at him, yet he could not keep his calm.
If even the Man who the attack was not aimed at was in a state of panic, needless to say, the Gnome was scared shitless. He still could not wrap his head around how Grey could create an attack that could threaten him. No, if it was just threaten then he would not be worried, this attack could definitely obliterate him. How could an Eighth stage Sovereign be able to create something like this?
“Why?” After a short silence, this was the only question that came out from his mouth.
He was finding it hard to accept. A moment later, his eyes flickered and without hesitation, he turned around. He wanted to flee as far as possible. Staying here was tantamount to death. Grey wanted him dead, he knew Grey wanted him dead. If he dared to stay any longer he would die.
The Man reacted instinctively, blocking the path of the Gnome. He had already used a secret technique that might damage his core, there was no way he would allow the Gnome escape, especially now that he had seen something that could kill him.
“Get out of my way!” The Gnome roared as he attacked.
The Man was composed, blocking the Gnome’s attack while also countering. The Gnome was flustered, and he was aware of this.
The Gnome did not bother with the Man’s attack and charged right through it, he was still protected by his flickering golden light. Banking all his hopes on it, he did not bother to block the Man’s attack.
The Man did not expect the Gnome to act in this manner. It was already too late and the Gnome’s figure had passed through the attack, unscathed. The golden light dimmed significantly, its light flickering even more now.
“I’ll kill you if you dare block my path!” The Gnome threw his lance at the Man, and just when the Man was about to react, another figure appeared behind the lance, grabbing the hilt and swinging it at the Man. The figure that appeared was a Puppet.
The pupils of the Man contracted, not expecting the Gnome to take out his Puppet at such an unconventional time. The duo had traded hundreds of blows over the past few minutes and the Gnome never brought out his Puppet, it was evident he did not care about Grey any longer.
This Puppet was not strong though, being only in the First stage of the Sovereign Plane.
The Man noticed this and tried to block the attack.
Bang!
Struck by the lance, he was forced to retreat a few steps, creating an opening for the Gnome to pass through.
‘No…’
