Chapter 1109 1109: Gathering Data.
Prince Bei Ming returned to the stands and sat beside Commander Arkham, and the host of the fights, said, “The Humans have won, now the punishment for the losers will be served at the hands of the Realm Lord.”
The people looked at the pavilion floating in the void and they saw the Realm Lord raise his hand and point towards the Glacial Corpses contingent, and the next moment several dozen sages vanished into scattered light particles.
The sight appeared to be insignificant but it was sent chills down the spine of the rest of the people. Probably the only few unaffected people were the ones who ranked as the first among the sage races, or Shi Lang, who utterly didn’t care about life and death of the other races. He had too much on his own plate at the moment.
The envoy then began calling other people, and the human race got to work. They began to record the fights and later they would be decoded. They wouldn’t be going in blind this time around. Shi Lang was watching these battles with a calm face, but in the spiritual communication, the human race was learning and they were perceiving a lot of secrets.
They knew they weren’t strong, and the only way to ensure survival in this fucked up tournament was to march ahead and use all the tricks in their sleeves. They had to use it all even if it meant to play dirty.
This was not just how humans looked at things, but everyone else. Shi Lang was engrossed in the battles, because while he was using them to comprehend and refine his own ideas, he also sensing if any of the winning fighters were odd. Yes, odd like himself, if someone had comprehended the meaning of Time Laws.
However, after twenty battles, Shi Lang couldn’t help but look at the pavilion in the void for a brief second before he closed his eyes and leaned on to Amelia’s shoulder. Yes, he didn’t want the Realm Lord to sense his gaze lingering over the construct. For the man seemed to be unfathomably strong.
Shi Lang came to a conclusion that even if someone has comprehended the laws of time, they would never reveal it before the Realm Lord. Why? The Realm Lord was a strong entity, but he was super insecure. This man killed people for every excuse that he could find. Only the ones who were not growing stronger managed to survive.
Shi Lang had gotten a proper assessment from the Jewel Eye race. They have told Shi Lang about how much of a disaster this man was. He killed entire families and lineages to ensure that none could become as strong as him. Then he would make up stupid reasons to justify his actions.
So, Shi Lang had to be careful until he was strong enough to deal with this man. After an entire day, the two thousand races that were recognized as the sage races, were reduced to nothing but entries in historical records. However, one thing was for sure, the legacy they left behind would give birth to the new Sages.
…
The humans came back to their own realm, and they were given one more month before the next fight. Shi Lang and the rest of the sages sat in the meeting hall outside the Asura Hall. The young man took a deep breath and asked, “So, what do you think, who would be our opponent?”
Shi Tao replied, “We have the answer, the Envoy was informed when we were heading back here, but she held back the information till we asked her. The race we are up against is called Tryant Titans. They are a race of wood attributed creatures who look similar to the trees, they are the overlords of their realm, and they have tempered themselves in the lightning of the rains to lower the vulnerability they had towards the fire attribute.
They thrive of water, and they can handle the wind element as well. If we compare to them in terms of elemental spiritual arts, we are falling short by a huge margin.”
Shi Lang nodded and many people began to ask if they could counter it with arrays or talisman but after an entire day they could not reach the decision. In the end, Amelia said, “They cannot handle the spatial attribute that easily.”
The people turned silent and Amelia said, “The battle they had the last time shows it clearly. While the Lotus Mantis race was fighting against them, the Tryant Titans always avoided ending up in close proximity with the spatial tears. While one of the attacks managed to catch the warrior off guard, the spatial tear literally amputated him.”
She manipulated her communicator and cast a hologram in the void for the people to see. They all saw the Tryant Titan avoiding the attack but then the Lotus Mantis waved his hand and cast a second sickle slash from its arms. The attack itself didn’t do much damage, but the spatial tear directly caused the Tryant Titan to lose an arm. Although the Tryant Titans had a high regeneration power, they were still prone to damage if done by the space attributes.
Shi Lang looked at the people and asked, “Who wants to fight these living trees? This is not an open for all banquet, focus on the weakness of the enemy and exploit it.”
Tong Bai sighed and said, “I will fight, my daughter is in seclusion so I don’t have much to do here anyway. These kids don’t let me do anything, so my old bones are catching rust only. Who else wants to compete with me to fight that bonsai?”
Her words were as carefree as usual, and Shi Lang smirked, someone said, “Lord Shi, it seems that the Asura Hall would have to stand at the front of this ordeal, none of us are strong enough to fight against the strength and experience of your elders.”
Shi Lang smiled and said, “Well, I want to be humble, but you all just feed my ego. It is not that you all are weak, it is just that the foundations these guys have built is a little sturdier than yours. Don’t feel bad, after the tournament, we will have a lot of chances to face off the sages of the various races in free combat, then you can vent on them. The first priority here is survival. Okay?”
The people nodded and it was determined that Tong Bai will take the front foot and fight with the Tryant Titans.
