Chapter 608 - 607: Pity
Chapter 608: Chapter 607: Pity
Bang!
The ground sank inward as shockwaves spread across the Mortal Realm, the loud sound tearing some mortals’ ears as blood flowed from them.
Peak Rank 1 beings loomed on in shock, while Quasi-Rank 1 beings were amazed.
This... was this the work of the once-foolish Second Prince? How did he become this strong?
Bang!
Bang!...
The punch descended at a slower pace, but its force was rapidly increasing.
Crack!
Crack!
Bones broke apart as flesh was ripped away.
Deep within the mountain, Keith’s face had been broken, his chest caved in, and his lips split.
He knew this was the end.
No... he could feel it.
His body was unresponsive. At first, he could feel the pain.
Now, it was numb.
Memories of his first battle in the area appeared, followed by his parents’ screams as they were burned alive.
Then, those two crimson eyes.
He felt sad... and disappointed in himself.
Was this where everything would end?
Was this everything?
No. He didn’t want to die, but yet... there was no way.
This next punch would kill him.
Fucking hell. Damn it all.
Keith tried to move every fiber of his being. He tried to at least control Leon’s blood, but to his not-so-surprise, he couldn’t.
He was nothing but a bystander, watching the fist slowly approach as his time of death seemed to be counting down.
Just then...
"Stop... it is enough."
With his eyes barely open and his vision filled with blood, he could see an arm had grabbed Leon’s fist.
Leon paused, his face twisting in anger as he stopped his attack.
Behind him was his sister, Rasel.
She was naked, her green patterns around her body glowing as she healed. Her face was bruised, and her eyes contained the amount of suffering she had gone through when she was under Nekro’s control.
Yet, she still wanted to save Keith’s life.
Leon’s eyes narrowed as he opened his mouth.
He only had one question.
"Why?" Leon asked calmly as tears dropped from Rasel’s eyes.
"He... and his friend saved my life, so... I want to repay the favor," Rasel spoke, her body trembling.
Leon paused as he walked to the edge of the mountain.
At this moment, no human settlement was in sight for thousands of kilometers, yet he could feel several eyes gazing at them.
Peak Rank 1 experts, Quasi-Rank 1 experts, and even those hidden Rank 1 beings who had just broken through.
"He killed that said friend... Although he used that to kill Nekro, it showed he would go to any length to accomplish his goals. Knowing this, do you still want me to spare his life?" Leon asked as the mountaintop went quiet.
The experts also wanted an answer to this.
Yes, there was no doubt Keith had helped and killed Nekro, but he had gone berserk. He killed his friend, and if not for Leon, they didn’t even know if most of them would be alive right now.
They could sense many cities and kingdoms filled with mummified corpses, all thanks to Keith, who had drained their blood to enhance himself.
Knowing this, would Princess Rasel still spare this monster’s life?
"Yes," Princess Rasel said softly as Leon chuckled.
"I hope you know what you released and don’t regret this decision in the future."
With that, Leon took to the sky as the clouds within a twenty-thousand-mile radius directly shattered from the shockwave of him reaching the speed of sound, then accelerating to the speed of light as he blurred out of existence.
Princess Rasel’s head was lowered as her long hair fell across her face.
"This... this chance I gave you... don’t misuse it," Princess Rasel sobbed as she spoke.
Then, she took flight too, disappearing.
Meanwhile, the watchers were angry, but what could they do?
Leon was the strongest and had made the decision. If they went against it, who knew whether Leon wouldn’t kill them for daring to interfere with his decision?
But without a doubt, no one was in support of just letting Keith go.
They wanted him dead, but alas, it was all over as, one by one, they withdrew their gazes.
Meanwhile, Keith felt miserable as he heard everything Rasel had said.
But instead of being grateful, he only felt annoyed.
So, he was spared because of her?
Was everything he had gone through until now... all the battles, his survival, all of it... cast away?
Without her, would he be dead?
"Tell me, what will you do now?"
Across from Keith, a being made of the same flame that had killed his mother, with two crimson eyes, sat down and asked calmly.
"Hahahaha... they will all regret their choice to let me live."
Keith laughed widely as he stood up from the crater, his body slowly healing.
"I will make their world bleed... and swallow every drop," Keith spoke coldly with a wild grin.
*******
Far away from this...
At one of the clusters of multiverses that Dreadborne controlled, Sword Demon was the one in charge. Various Quasi-Rank 4 demons reported to him as they controlled the souls that flowed to Dreadborne through these channels. They also waged wars against other universes and multiverses.
Sitting leisurely on a hill, Sword Demon’s mind was a tad heavy.
He missed his golden dragon pet.
Alas, things changed.
At this moment, he sensed a disturbance as a humanoid demon appeared.
"Hmm, what is it, Shalor?" Sword Demon couldn’t help but ask. Even without him overseeing things...
The system created here made everything run on its own, so he might not even receive a report for thousands of years.
"Leader... It is about the Dreadborne organization. Most especially, something related to you and the leaders..." The Quasi-Rank 4 demon bowed his head as he spoke.
"Hmm, what happened?" Sword Demon asked.
"You see, Leader, there has been an ongoing rumor that above you all, there’s a master who owns the Dreadborne organization," Shalor spoke, expecting Sword Demon to flare up, maybe try to speak the truth that no one was above them, or at the very least ask who had started the rumor.
"Is that all?" Sword Demon asked, puzzled.
Was it supposed to be secret news?
So these people didn’t know Void was the true master of Dreadborne, and Sword Demon and the rest were just the people Void had put in charge?
Thinking about it... this feels like Void had created a large organization and left them all to do the hard labor while he sat back and reaped the rewards?
Shalor was shocked as he looked at Sword Demon’s demeanor.
Wait... could it be there really was a master of Dreadborne they weren’t aware of?
"And... and he has been going around inciting wars, taking resources, and basically using the prestige that Dreadborne has created for his own personal preference," Shalor spoke.
"Heh... really?"
Sword Demon narrowed his eyes.
It seemed kind of fishy.
Well, not like Void couldn’t do that, but Void was a demon. They didn’t need outside resources, just souls. In fact, Dreadborne only collected resources to trade with their allies and reward the races under them.
So, for Void to personally go out and do all this?
Plus, according to what Linkir said, he was still in that realm, no?
Something was wrong.
Meanwhile, Shalor had a relieved expression.
Good.
Even if there was a master, his behavior was just too much.
Since the creation of Dreadborne and its growth, they had only seen the leaders working hard, conquering worlds for the organization and warding off intruders. They did all the work, while this so-called master had never appeared even once.
Now, even if it was true... it seemed the leaders should take it up with him, right?
Capture him or challenge him.
Besides, the leaders were powerful. Shalor didn’t believe that master was strong. In fact, he could just be living off all the leaders’ hard work.
"Ah... don’t worry about it. Let him enjoy himself," Sword Demon said, waving his hand.
Who knew? Maybe Void was trying something new.
"Wait, what?"
Shalor’s expression froze.
