Chapter 555: Chapter 554: One after the other

"Tsk..."

Keith slowly turned around as he looked at the human who had stabbed him, then spoke slowly.

"You thought that would do something, right?" Keith asked with a smile.

The human’s face twitched.

Keith then smashed the sword down, breaking it in two before stabbing one half through the enemy’s eye socket.

His wounds rapidly healed as he approached the humans.

Only this time, they didn’t rush forward.

Instead, they actually backed away.

Not only from Keith, but from Kiro as well.

It was one thing to fight two strong beings when you knew that, with your numbers, at least your attacks would land.

Now it had changed.

You struck them, delivered life-threatening attacks...

And then nothing happened.

They shrugged them off like a breeze and healed like monsters.

The remaining two hundred humans gulped nervously as they looked at the monsters in human bodies.

They were stronger, faster, and more brutal than the assassins.

Not to mention their regeneration.

The two hundred surrounded them in the middle as they slowly circled Keith and Kiro, looking for weaknesses, while Keith and Kiro stood back to back.

"I got 150," Keith said as he watched them.

"Likewise," Kiro replied.

"Tie-breaker?" Kiro asked with a grin.

Keith chuckled.

"Sure," Keith replied as the two moved.

Boom!

The ground beneath them cracked as it sank a few inches.

The two moved like twin blades, clearing the area as the assassins dodged, with some even trying to run away.

Devon was impressed, while Keith and Kiro were amazed.

After all, the two had never fought together before, yet the way they fought was the same.

It was like they had been doing this for ages.

They just flowed as they killed each other’s attackers and functioned as a unit that could split apart and merge back together.

Unknown to them, their years as slaves had honed them to their limits.

They were basically killing machines.

Both had similar fighting styles, only that the Reaper, Kiro, was more restrained and occasionally spared his opponents, while Keith, the Devil, never held back and always killed his enemies.

It only took ten minutes before the surroundings were cleared.

Bodies were scattered across the ground, limbs lay everywhere, and blood dyed the earth red.

As for Keith and Kiro, their faces were filled with regret as they had allowed some to escape.

"Haha, why do you two look so upset?" Devon couldn’t help but ask.

He was stunned by this duo.

Was this not enough?

Over six hundred assassins had come here to attack them, yet fewer than a dozen had escaped.

And that was only because they had run away while Keith and Kiro were still fighting.

"Well, they might go and inform others about the Princess’s current location, thereby endangering her and causing more trouble on our journey," Keith answered.

Devon chuckled.

"It seems this kid really did his research."

"He actually read all those books," Devon thought in shock.

After all, three days ago, Keith had known nothing.

Devon could bet that if Keith had been allowed to wander around back then, he would have been used and scammed by those tricksters trying to steal his money.

"Yeah, we can’t endanger the Princess’s life, right?" Kiro said with a smile.

Devon rolled his eyes.

As if he would believe the two.

At first, after hearing what Keith had said, he thought they really cared.

But now, thinking about it...

Heh.

These two were simply regretful that some had escaped.

Soon enough, his thoughts were proven right.

"Hey, I have 292 kills."

"Same."

"So, a tie?" Keith said regretfully.

Kiro sighed.

"Should we convince Sir Devon to let us give chase? I’m sure we can kill more," Kiro whispered.

"Seems like a good idea," Keith whispered back.

Devon’s face twitched.

Are you two playing with me?

Do you think you’re actually whispering?

He was a High Rank 0 being.

How could he possibly not hear what they were saying?

But Devon smiled.

The two had gotten along quite well, and very quickly too.

Only if Devon knew about their background.

Although Kiro and Keith had barely spoken during all their years in the arena, that life-and-death battle they had shared was more than enough.

Each had their own goals, and both were relentless.

Naturally, they could relate to one another.

Their interactions flowed smoothly, and they quickly warmed up to each other.

"You two aren’t going anywhere."

"We still have a long way to go," Devon said as he watched Keith’s and Kiro’s expressions change.

"These kids..."

Devon laughed.

"Don’t worry about them."

"If you truly care about them informing their masters about our location..."

Devon paused as he emphasized the word "masters" and saw Keith and Kiro lower their heads in guilt.

"I’ll take care of them."

Devon raised his hand before pressing his palm downward.

Boom...

Across from them, about two kilometers away, the dozens or so assassins escaping with their lives, thinking they had survived death, suddenly felt a huge sense of crisis.

"Wait... what is that?"

"Fuck... this is—"

They spoke as their skin crawled.

They accelerated and all split apart, trying to get out of the range of the giant palm that had just appeared in the air.

But alas, they were not fast enough.

It descended.

Then...

A massive crater, more than five hundred meters deep and spanning over two kilometers, appeared.

"Done," Devon said calmly as Keith and Kiro gulped.

It wasn’t the effect of the attack that shocked them.

The instant the attack began, they felt the very air tremble as an energy they couldn’t yet understand appeared.

It was far greater than anything that could be achieved through physical attacks alone.

It was as though the attacks had been amplified many times over.

They looked at Devon.

If before they had only respected him because he was their master’s butler and stronger than them in realm...

Now what he had shown completely changed their understanding.

He wasn’t just stronger than them in realm.

No wonder Devon could serve as both the Princess’s butler and personal guard.

The fact that the Princess was still alive, even after Kiro had told Keith about the attack from another High Rank 0 being who had once tried to assassinate her outside the kingdom, was a testament to Devon’s strength.

Even against another High Rank 0 being...

He held the advantage.

Seeing the two staring at him brought a feeling of satisfaction to Devon.

Yes, you two could kill hundreds of weak assassins.

But could you do what I just did?

Could you?

"Let’s continue the journey," Devon said, snapping them out of their thoughts.

"Yes, Sir Devon," both Keith and Kiro replied as they returned to the carriage.

This time, however, they remained outside with Devon.

After all, their guards were dead.

Only the driver was still alive.

Inside the carriage, Rasel smiled as she watched Devon educate the two young men.
