Chapter 552: Chapter 551: Worries of a Princess
Swish!
An arrow flew toward Keith.
He reacted, but just as he tried to move, a sharp pain shot through his body, halting his movement.
"Careful," Kiro said with a frown as he caught the arrow inches away from Keith’s eyes before looking into the distance.
He saw a flash of light for a brief moment as his eyes turned cold.
"Tell Devon we were attacked," Kiro instructed as he stepped onto the edge of the balcony and jumped down.
Everything happened so fast that Keith had to take a second to process what had just happened.
Then he turned around and rushed to Devon.
He could now see that what Kiro had said was true.
It seemed this job was just as dangerous as being a gladiator.
"Devon."
Seeing the butler standing by the door with his eyes closed, Keith called out.
Devon opened his eyes.
"What is it?" Devon asked as Keith explained what had just happened.
After hearing it, Devon sighed, his expression turning cold.
"They are getting too bold."
"A warning shot in broad daylight?"
"What are the princes thinking?"
"Do they want to destroy the kingdom?" Devon muttered in frustration.
Keith listened from the side.
After all, he knew nothing.
Just then...
Soft footsteps rang out as Kiro appeared.
Keith narrowed his eyes.
Kiro had definitely grown much stronger than him.
The gap between them must be enormous.
Yet this non-human being seemed to have changed.
When he first met him, he had been so cold, but now...
"Here’s him."
Kiro flung a dead body onto the ground.
Its neck had been snapped, and beside it lay a broken bow and shattered arrows.
"He was close to breaking through to Rank 0."
"It seems, just as you predicted, this fight will be much more intense than ever."
"Even the whole kingdom will be affected," Kiro said as he handed an emblem to Devon.
Seeing it, Devon’s expression changed as he clenched his fist.
But he was still a veteran.
He managed to remain calm.
"It seems we have to do that," Devon said.
Kiro nodded.
"About time," Kiro replied with a smile, while Keith furrowed his brows as he looked at the two.
A confused expression appeared on his face.
Anyway, he followed their orders now.
Whatever they were discussing wasn’t something he was keen on knowing.
"Prepare."
"In three days, we will leave on a long journey."
"You have to recover by then."
"I’ll have the maids bring you some elixirs to accelerate your recovery," Devon said.
Kiro smiled.
"Thank him," Kiro hinted.
Keith looked at Devon.
"What is an elixir?" Keith asked.
Devon’s face twitched, while the smile on Kiro’s face froze.
---
A few minutes later, Keith was in the room assigned to him, surrounded by stacks of books as he swallowed a small blue pill.
The maids brought in different dishes, and a mouthwatering aroma filled the air.
"Here’s your food," the maids said before bowing and leaving.
Keith looked at the dishes and then at the books before letting out a soft sigh.
After asking Devon and Kiro about the elixir, he had been bombarded with this massive pile of books.
Devon had told him to patiently stay indoors until the three-day period was over.
After all, Keith knew nothing about how the real world worked.
If he hoped to become a decent guard, then at the very least he needed to know who his enemies were and learn a thing or two about them that could help him in battle.
So Keith was left with this.
He took a bite of the food, and his eyes immediately lit up.
At first, he had thought the food slaves ate was good.
Then, as he became a better gladiator, the meals kept getting better and better.
Later, he had believed the food served on the first level of the arena was the finest in the world.
But now...
His entire worldview was shattered once again.
This food...
Was the best.
Keith hurriedly devoured the meal.
Soon, his mouth was oily, his hands were covered in grease, and the new clothes Devon had given him were already a complete mess.
Keith ate until his stomach was bloated.
He lay back on the bed, breathing heavily.
Even though his stomach ached, he gritted his teeth.
Pleasure and pain went hand in hand.

"My Lady, things are serious," Devon spoke to the woman seated before him.
This was the Fifth Princess.
Princess Rasel.
Although she wasn’t a prince, she possessed a deciding power that could change the race for the throne the princes were fighting over.
As soon as the King fell ill, everyone tried to persuade her to join their side because of the family that backed her.
Her mother had only given birth to her before passing away, but Rasel was the jewel of that hidden family.
Even as powerful as the Ynvashi Kingdom was, they couldn’t ignore them.
With their support, whoever they chose would automatically become King.
One could only imagine the princes’ shock when Rasel refused to support any of them.
But that was only the beginning.
Recently, she had declared that she would also compete for the throne.
That announcement had completely set her brothers off.
Now they had allied themselves with various forces outside the kingdom, both enemies and allies alike.
After all, the Ynvashi Kingdom was a huge pie.
Once the King officially died, everyone would rush to carve it up.
And what better way to gain influence within the Ynvashi Kingdom than by supporting one of the royal family members and helping them seize the throne?
Rasel...
Was a force that, if they couldn’t obtain, they had to destroy.
So she had become the enemy of everyone and had been hunted ever since.
Worse still...
The princes had given mercenary groups, assassin organizations, various dangerous individuals, and even enemies of the kingdom access to the kingdom...
All to kill their own sister.
This was going too far.
But now that the King was ill...
Who could command the princes?
"What is wrong, Devon? What did my brothers do again?" Rasel asked softly.
Looking at how calm Rasel was, Devon couldn’t help but feel proud.
She was favored by that hidden family not because she had been born to her mother...
But because she possessed a unique physique.
One with limitless potential.
To awaken it, however, she had to go to that hidden family, undergo their ritual, and become one of them.
The moment she did...
The hidden family would gain access to the Ynvashi Kingdom.
Now what would happen if two superpowers joined together?
Exactly.
That was why everyone opposed it.
So even though she had an incredibly bright future...
She was limited by the world itself.
She could never go to that family.
It had been forbidden by her father and the ancestors of the royal family.
But now...
"You were attacked."
"And this time, it was the Black Hawk Organization," Devon said as Rasel’s eyes turned cold.
"Are they stupid?"
"Don’t they know what the Black Hawk Organization is?" Rasel couldn’t help but ask.
Devon sighed.
"My Lady..."
"We’ll have to take you to your family."
"No."
Rasel refused instantly.
Devon’s head lowered, but he wasn’t willing to give up.
"Young Miss..."
"Please think this through."
"Your life isn’t safe."
"They’ll soon begin sending Rank 0 beings."
"The assassin the other day was already close to Rank 0."
"We have to leave," Devon tried to persuade her.
"Are you saying I should go against the orders of a King..."
"One who is still very much alive?" Rasel asked with a faint smile.
Devon gritted his teeth.
"Young Miss..."
"I’m informing you."
"This isn’t a debate."
"Your mother entrusted you to me with one responsibility."
"To protect you."
"That was all she ever wanted."
"So how can I ignore her final wish?"
"I can’t watch..."
"Nor allow you to die."
"So in three days..."
"You’re coming with me."
"Besides..."
"If you truly can’t bear to see your people suffer..."
"And you want to become the ruler of this kingdom..."
"Being passive won’t work."
"When a tiger remains silent for too long..."
"People begin to forget the danger of its fangs and claws."
Devon said, his body trembling.
Hearing this, Rasel’s smile widened as she slowly stood up.
"Now that’s quite interesting..."
"Show our fangs..."
"Unsheathe our claws..."
"But Devon..."
"Do you know what that will cause in the end?"
"The Ynvashi Kingdom..."
"And my family..."
"Will both be attacked."
Rasel said.
Devon closed his eyes tightly.
He felt frustrated.
But most likely...
The Princess was right.
He knew he was acting irrationally.
He simply wanted to keep her safe.
After all, even if he was strong...
He wasn’t the strongest.
"But..."
Suddenly, Rasel spoke.
Devon opened his eyes.
"When has the Ynvashi Kingdom ever been afraid of anyone?"
"Even if the whole world stood against us..."
"SO WHAT!"
