Abyssal Awakening
Chapter 1156: Allura’s Daughter
Alice’s gloomy mood didn’t go unnoticed as Allura instantly had a bad feeling in her gut. Especially that last look in her eyes.
She had need that kind of look before...
In the eyes of people who wanted to die by her hand.
Taking a deep breath, Allura tapped Solana and Yuna on the shoulders.
"Let’s end things here for now shall we? I’m sure there other things we need to think about. How about we schedule the meeting for tomorrow? I’m sure the Elders would appreciate a head’s up." Allura stepped in as both Yuna and Solana turned to her before looking at Alice.
They couldn’t see her eyes as her bangs were hiding them but even without knowing Alice for long, they realised her state wasn’t normal.
This is not simply a matter of having no filter. This was something else entirely.
"Alright." Yuna hesitated for a moment before nodding.
The three of them left the bar as only now, did the Queen finally remember to breathe.
Her legs gave out, her face was pale and sweat covered her back.
"W-who is she?" She questioned as Yuna pursed her lips.
"Hopefully an ally." Yuna replied. She glanced down on her own hand.
Her hand was trembling.
Closing her eyes, Yuna evaluated the situation.
There was only one thing she felt towards this ’unfiltered’ Alice.
Fear.
"If... Both of you-"
Being familiar with the Queen, Solana understood what she wanted to ask.
"Even if all the Lords gathered, the moment she drinks even a droplet of blood from one of us. Or if she had some prepared ahead of time. Everyone will die without doubt. That’s not including the people around her. Even if she fought alone, we won’t be able to do anything against her." Solana admitted without shame.
In the first place, she never really prided herself on strength.
But even she could tell when someone was clearly the exception to the rules.
And most importantly...
"You saw it for yourself right? She spoke nothing but the truth. An Apostle died by her hand. Someone that even Lords dare not rebel against yet she killed one just like that. Kazira’s blood is on her hands." Solana reminded as the Queen swallowed nervously.
Her eyes were... a little unique.
When speaking to someone, she could see when they’re telling the truth and when they’re lying.
Hell, she could even figure out if they’re hiding anything while telling the truth. Omitting details and such.
As for Alice?
She was 100% telling the truth. Some people may dismiss her words as theatrics but...
She was indeed the successor of the Abyss. The destroyer of souls. Having slain countless does, Lords and Apostles alike. Everything she said, every word she spoke. None of it was lies.
Biting her lip, the Queen creased her brows as she dreaded the official meeting tomorrow.

"Karya, take Alyss to get a room for now. I think you and Alice can split some distance apart right? I just need a quick chat." Allura smiled as Alyss nodded her head.
She looked at Alice with worry but what could she even say?
She... knew what Alice was thinking.
The way she saw herself in this moment.
And honestly? Alyss didn’t know what to say. Some of her words had truth in them but she didn’t know how to handle this side of Alice.
What if she said the wrong thing?
Turning her gaze to Allura, she could only hope that she could pull Alice free from her doubts.
With Alice and Allura now being left alone, Allura made her way to the terrified bar keep who didn’t dare make a single sound.
"Can you just get me a glass of mead? Just one. The girl here can’t drink right now." Allura smiled, giving them an excuse to leave.
Sitting down, she lit up her cigarette and glanced at Alice.
"Why don’t you sit down for now. Or do you want your mom to keep craning her head back just so I can see your eyes?" Allura asked.
Alice silently hovered down to the seat and sat down, hugging her knees.
"Are you worried?" Allura asked, taking a deep drag of her cigarette.
Blowing out a cloud of smoke, she smiled helplessly.
"If you don’t want to talk, don’t. Mom won’t force you to. Instead, I’ll tell you a story okay? You don’t need to not. Just listen."
Closing her eyes, Allura thought about where to begin.
Honestly, Alice’s worries weren’t unfounded. But Allura didn’t think it was as bad as she thought.
"You know about how me and Kaden went our separate ways after Velouria died right?" Allura leaned back.
"Back then, I was truly confused. Not only did I suffer a really bad wound from Famine, but my Goddess died. My teacher was a traitor and my love left me be. Haha... Honestly, looking back, I don’t even know how I made it past that stage of my life."
Back then, her heart had been stabbed by Velouria’s death. Shattered by Nyer’s betrayal.
Then, when she sought to find comfort in Kaden, the man left without saying a word.
The pieces she hoped to glue together with him were ground to dust instead.
For a period, she moved like a corpse. No goal, no destination. No will.
A simple husk of power who simply did whatever she wanted, whatever she felt like doing.
She kept moving but her heart had long stopped.
Her movement was to simply hide the decay inside her heart.
"Ah jeez... I don’t even know what kind of story I’m wanting to tell you. Your mom’s not exactly a good role model, especially back then. I killed a lot of people. More than you can imagine. I even killed using the power of Oblivion, making sure their deaths are as painful as possible.
"I tortured my enemies mentally as well. I severed their mortal connections. A son’s desperation as her mother forgets her son’s face. A sister’s cries as her brother loses all his love for her. A parent’s despair as they watch their children kill one another." Allura admitted with a dark look in her eyes.
With the conceptual power of severance, quite a few things were possible.
And she used all of it to her advantage and more.
"I hated it. Why are they allowed to live but my Goddess Velouria had the world turned against her.
"Why does someone who loved the world so much get buried by its hatred. It didn’t make sense to me."
The world left her confused. Truly.
Had Nyer reached out to her back then, the odds of her accepting his offer would’ve been higher than 80%.
To bring vengeance against this world who wronged her so.
For that, she was willing to use her own powers to bring it to its knees.
"But you know what Kaden is like. Never the honest one that man." Allura smiled softly.
In this moment, her expression seemed to regress back to that of a young maiden in love.
"He rested the weight of his world on his shoulders. My burdens, my fate, my safety. He took them all on. Without telling me anything. Maybe he thought it was too dangerous but even after knowing everything, I still want to give that guy a smack to the head you know?" She laughed.
"Back then, with Velouria’s death, the Abyss lost its order. The portals between the Abyss and surface faltered. Since I wasn’t doing my job, it was up to Kaden.
"He held back the horde of monsters, he stabilized the portals. He prevented Famine- no, he prevented the other Factions from taking advantage of my weakness. None of the Apostles reached me because Kaden had been keeping all of them busy.
"Whatever vault they had, he robbed. Divine relics, scriptures. Even chosen ones. He stole them all, destroyed what he could. He drew their hatred onto himself so that they would forget about me. Not only that, but he kept hunting down Nyer to prevent his movements." Allura shook her head.
It wasn’t until much longer did she find out everything that he did. But by then, their relationship had already fractured. Adults were complicated people.
They simply couldn’t be honest with themselves.
She couldn’t be honest with herself.
It wasn’t until Alice came around did she finally begin repairing her relationship with Kaden.
For that, she was most grateful.
"He did all of that without consulting with me even once." Allura’s smile twitched.
As the glass of mead arrived, she snatched it up and drank it in one go.
"Can you imagine the issues that could’ve been prevented if he simply talked to me? Now the dummy is half dead somewhere in the world and I can’t even hold his hand..." Allura sighed heavily with a sad look in her eyes.
Even with everything going on right now, she wanted to make sure Kaden was safe.
She wanted to be next to him again.
A simple yearning that seemed impossible to fulfil.
Both of them had their jobs they needed to do.
Subconsciously, Allura’s hand drifted to where her wound was. The gaping hole that Famine left behind which refused to heal.
Taking a deep breath, she turned to Alice.
"What I’m trying to say is... Don’t assume I’ll abandon you just because you’re resembling me when I was younger. Trust me when I say my destructive tendencies back then was stronger than anything you’re showing now.
"So Alice, can you trust me? Can you trust that your mom won’t abandon you no matter what. You’re Alice Agnelia. My daughter that I chose to look after.
"Even if the sky collapses, even if the Gods come. Even if Nyer demands your life...
"I won’t let them reach you so long as I live."
