Chapter 220: The Egg

"My apologies, my liege, but please allow this humble woman to speak" Olivia stepped forward and knelt near Vaelor, lowering her head to the ground in submission, and waited for Vaelor’s permission.

"Speak" Vaelor nodded, granting her the permission she sought.

"My liege, my sister the Silent Queen’s attack on Your Majesty’s kingdom was her own personal mistake, and she and the soldiers who dared to attack alongside her have received what they deserved. I advised her many times not to meddle in matters that don’t concern us, but she was a fool and didn’t listen, so please, have mercy on my innocent people, and I’m prepared to give you whatever you desire!" Olivia spoke in her sweet voice, with a pleading, beseeching tone, hoping Vaelor would show some mercy toward her people.

She had originally come here believing they would become slaves to the elves, but after hearing what had befallen the Falcon race and the other races, and after seeing the Falcon King’s condition and how he’d arrived here, panic seized her at once, and her worry over her kingdom multiplied several times over!

"Hehehehe, no one here is innocent, my little princess, for just as peoples share in their kings’ glory, they also bear the burden of their mistakes" Vaelor looked at Olivia and laughed mockingly; "and you say you’ll give me what I want, but I don’t see anything about you or your kingdom that could stir my desires!"

Olivia gritted her teeth upon hearing those humiliating words, for she knew well what King Vaelor was implying.

He was simply telling her, "if you think your beauty and this alluring body of yours will tempt me, you’re mistaken" and she knew too that she was mistaken, for someone like King Vaelor, if he wanted her, could have her without any effort at all. But she couldn’t back down here!

Either her people would live as slaves or second-class citizens for the rest of their lives, like the rest of the kingdoms that had attacked the City of Light, or they would live with dignity and some measure of authority over themselves, like the Elven War Kingdom... and Olivia chose to risk everything!

Olivia extended her hand and produced a black box made of ancient wood, one that anyone looking at it for a while, with some focus, would immediately sense that time around this box was frozen, and everything passing near it moved strangely slower!

Vaelor took hold of the box slowly, furrowing his brows as he examined it.

The moment he took hold of the black box, he felt a strange force attempting to affect him, but it was too weak to actually do so, though he sensed it clearly. That force closely resembled the abilities of the Cosmic Law of Time, though it was noticeably weaker, yet still close to it.

Vaelor opened the box carefully, and found inside an egg adorned with numerous scales resembling dragon scales, along with numerous strange symbols scattered all across the egg.

The moment he saw this egg and sensed the aura of its lineage, Vaelor’s eyes widened at once and he looked at Olivia!

After entering the Eternal Night Heaven and witnessing the wonders of the universe, Vaelor hadn’t believed he would see anything in the kingdoms of this continent that could pique his interest, but this egg in his hand completely changed his outlook!

"Which monster does this egg belong to!" Vaelor looked at Olivia and asked with clear curiosity.

"It’s the egg of the ancestor beast of our race, my liege... the Silent Raven Dragon!" Olivia spoke, and everyone’s eyes widened in shock upon hearing this!

The ancestor beast’s egg... meaning the egg of the beast that had transformed the Silent Raven race from mere ordinary humans into the Silent Ravens... or more precisely... the Silent Raven Dragon race!

"Where did you get it from?" Vaelor asked Olivia in confusion, for he knew the Silent Raven Dragon had appeared only once in history, and not more than that — could this possibly be the egg of that very first beast!

"At the peak of the ancestor beast’s power, after fully comprehending the Law of Stillness, it learned it wouldn’t be able to reach the Legendary Fourth Level for a reason it didn’t understand, but it didn’t give up, and it knew there would come a time when reaching the Fourth Level would be permitted, so it poured all its power and the essence of its lineage into its one and only egg, and died afterward. But it left hope for its descendants after it, wrapping the egg in the Law of Stillness so that time would pass hundreds of times slower for this egg, and no one knows when it will hatch!" Olivia explained everything honestly, and Vaelor ran his spiritual sense over her, using the Law of Emotion in a simple way to try to detect any lies or fluctuations in her feelings or soul, but he found nothing... meaning she was being completely truthful.

Vaelor turned his gaze back to the egg once more. This egg was no ordinary egg — it was the egg of a beast with a mutated Heaven-tier lineage!

After contemplating it for a while, Vaelor sent the egg to his personal storage space, then looked back at Olivia again "your kingdom has been pardoned, and they will become ordinary citizens in my kingdom instead of being second-class citizens!"

"Thank you for your generosity, my liege!" upon hearing this, Olivia smiled with joy at once.

Second-class citizens? Such people were practically servants with no rights, they were free without a master, yet they were still lowly slaves!

As for whether Olivia respected and revered her ancestor’s egg the way other races did?

The answer was no!

Olivia had grown up among her race, oppressed and humiliated, seen by them as nothing more than a tool to be exploited, so she didn’t have much sentiment toward her race’s sacred relics, and she saw trading that egg — sitting idle in one of their vaults with no apparent use — for freedom and a proper standing for her people, as far better than keeping it.

"A guardian from among your own race will be appointed over the Silent Kingdom for the time being..."
