Chapter 341: Realm Conquered – 2

“Don’t kill every single beast or being that is higher than Pseudo 3-star, because with that, the realm will officially begin to merge with the world, and the topography of the surroundings in the outside world will change. This will hamper the student researcher’s research outside, so keep at least one beast alive,” Katherine instructed telepathically.

Leo nodded in the shadows as he moved toward his first target.

Verdant Stag (Mid 3-star) – Mortal Bloodline

The beast still hadn’t finished munching on the special grass placed in the middle of the village. Leo drew his dagger and moved silently, his steps barely disturbing the ground.

[Umbral Rift Pounce]!

[Violet Hellbrand]!

He didn’t even need to use [Critical Strike] before the emerald-furred deer beast felt its neck split open.

“Grulg?!” it choked, panic flashing in its eyes as blood flooded into its lungs. Soon, the cut ignited, violet flames raging across the wound.

It activated its healing ability, but quickly realized its neck had been severed from the opposite side as well, nearly disconnecting half its spine. Leo’s dagger wasn’t long enough to cleave through in one go. On the third slash, the beast’s head finally rolled onto the ground.

Verdant Stag (Mid 3-star) killed – 20,000 xp

Level 25: 22,000 / 54,500 -> 44,000 -> 54,500

“Finally!” Leo exclaimed under his breath as Shyra and Nyxa appeared beside the corpse, immediately beginning to devour it. The two seemed locked in a silent competition over who would claim the beast core first.

This was the first beast he had killed in many days. Though he had been holding back to prevent a sudden surge in strength, another reason was simple—he hadn’t come across any. Around his territory, only Bigfoot held considerable strength, and it was already domesticated. Worse, Bigfoot itself kept other beasts away, leaving Leo with nothing to hunt. And as for actively searching, he simply hadn’t had the time.

His priorities had shifted after reaching a level where he could defend himself. Now, his focus was gathering worldly knowledge to determine his next course of action, while refining his skills and techniques.

So far, his skills had the following proficiencies.

From Shyra:

1. [Umbral Rift Pounce] / [Stealth] — Mid 20%/ Peak 7%

2. [Critical Strike] — High 48%

3. [Mist Shroud] — Low 85%

4. [Violet Hellbrand] — Mid 57%

From Niri:

1. [Vine Estranglement] — Mid 99%

2. [Nature Heal] — Mid 95%

3. [Spike Pores] — Low 34%

4. [Solar Beam] — Mid 79%

From Nyxa:

1. [Astral Aura Weave] — Mid 95%

2. [Luminous Prowl Steps] – Low 98%

From Howl:

1. [Earth Generation & Manipulation] — Mid 99%

2. [Thermal Pulse] — Low 89%

3. [Metal Manipulation] — Low 87%

4. [Golem Construct] — Low 99%

He could have taken another skill—[Scream] from Howl—but had chosen not to copy it yet, as he had never found a use for it. In fact, he doubted he ever would.

And just like that, the hunt continued.

Rocksnout Swine (Low 3-star) killed – 10,000 xp

It was a large pig-like beast with a rocky, hardened hide.

Level 25: 44,000 / 54,500 -> 54,000 / 54,500

Leo also came across the beast Andrew had mentioned.

Mudplate Beetle (Peak 3-star) – Mortal Bloodline

It was a squat beetle with a thick, layered shell resembling cracked mud plates, blending perfectly into the marshy terrain beside a small pond Leo encountered on his way to the next village. If not for the system’s prompt, he might have actually missed it.

Its short, powerful legs were caked in soil, and its hardened carapace tightened under threat the moment it sensed Leo—who wasn’t in stealth, not expecting this encounter.

The carapace turned it into a near-impenetrable lump of earth—for a peak 3-star, bordering Pseudo 4-star durability. But Leo’s first punch sent spiderweb cracks spreading across its armor, the impact echoing dully. His second punch followed, charged with [Critical Strike].

BAM!

Dead in just two hits—only because he hadn’t used his full strength in the first.

Mudplate Beetle (Peak 3-star) killed – 40,000 xp

Level 25: 54,000 / 54,500 -> 54,500 / 54,500

Mana: 123,200 -> 185,000 [183,200 -> 240,000]

Usable Mana: 239,800

Strength surged through Leo’s body as he prepared to use [Mist Shroud], intending to vent the excess mana from the sudden increase. But after a brief moment of consolidation, he simply opened his eyes—completely still. His entire being throbbed with restrained power, yet nothing leaked out. He had controlled it perfectly, unlike Lily, who lost control during her moment.

“Okay… let’s see if I can find more beasts…” he muttered quietly.

He didn’t. Aside from a single Low 3-star rabbit-like beast, he found nothing else. Remembering Katherine’s words, he let it go.

Shyra was still happily munching on whatever stray food she could find when suddenly—

Stats Updated!

[Beast Feedback – Shyra]

Vitality: 1170 [1720 -> 1770]

Strength: 1170 [1720 -> 1770]

Agility: 960 [1510 -> 1560] + 1% boost (Optional)

Stamina: 1150 [1700 -> 1750]

Intelligence: 1850 [2400 -> 2450]

Mana: 185,000 [240,000 -> 245,000]

A fresh wave of strength coursed through him as Leo noticed the passive effect of the new trait he had just unlocked through Shyra.

“Nice! I just need to increase my blood bond with Shyra, and my lack of speed can soon be compensated!” he said, a faint grin forming.

One of the main reasons–besides the soul techniques–Kaelion had been outspeeding him in competition was his lower agility stat. But now, with Shyra’s trait [Feline Agility], that gap could be closed.

“Hmm… though I would still need to work on my base stats. I’ll suffer greatly if I don’t balance them before the next level up,” he murmured thoughtfully, glancing at Shyra as she finished boasting to Nyxa.

He also noticed the optional tag beside the stat value. Just as the system had said, he could choose which trait to apply.

He checked the remaining time.

45 minutes left. It was time to move out.

A/N: I know the level number is wrong–only the level number, not the experience value or the stats. The problem occurred way back around Chapter 100s. I will correct it soon. Currently, it shows level 25, but I guess it should be 26 or 27. I will go through it and correct it.

Don’t worry, it doesn’t affect anything.

And sorry for the late Chapters! I miscalculated the amount of time I would need to do the stats!.
