Chapter 301: Territory Tier Upgrade And New ’Recruits’ Plans – 3
Leo quickly headed toward Aurelius Hall and looked around. He wasn’t the only one looking—many people had already noticed him.
“Oi! Look, the 1st-ranked fresher,” one whispered to his friend, who immediately turned.
“Damn! We have a hero amidst us!”
“Looks like he’s here to buy something. Let’s help him—we might get a favourable impression.”
“Shut it, dude. Trying to bother him? He can display the strength of a 5-star. Do you want to end up back in the temple in a blink?”
“N-no…”
Leo scanned the reception. As his gaze moved, a particular blonde girl flinched the moment his eyes landed on her. But as if she didn’t even exist, his gaze drifted past and settled on a white-haired girl—Layla, the same one he had bought advancement materials from.
The blonde-haired girl cursed her luck, thinking about how she had pushed away such a golden opportunity when it had come to her first.
Leo walked straight to Layla’s counter.
“G-good morning, sir! Nice to meet you again,” she said, hesitating before adding, “And congratulations on coming first in the fresher’s competition.”
Leo gave a small nod and went straight to the point.
“I need gunpowder.”
Layla nodded and displayed a list before him.
Normal Gunpowder — 100 AC/Kg
Enhanced Gunpowders
1-star Gunpowder — 10,000 AC/Kg
2-star Gunpowder — 100,000 AC/Kg
“Gunpowder of higher grade requires authorization by a Vice Principal,” Layla said.
Leo nodded.
He needed the gunpowder for the handgun he had been working on over the past few days. Though crude, he had managed to build a medieval-style double-barreled firearm, the kind pirates used to carry.
He wasn’t sure about its quality. The last thing he wanted was for it to explode in his hand the moment he pulled the trigger.
In the end, he decided to buy 10 kg of normal gunpowder and 10 kg of 1-star gunpowder for testing, bringing the total to 110,000 AC.
“Sir, would you like to buy pre-made explosives?” Layla asked, surprising him.
He hadn’t expected that.
“Show them.”
When Layla brought them out, Leo’s eyes widened slightly.
“Kugel grenades!” he exclaimed.
“What?”
“Nothing.”
They were spherical metal casings with a pin on top—almost identical to the German-made Kugel hand grenades of 1915, if his memory served him right.
“These made from normal gunpowder cost 1,000 AC each, and those made from 1-star gunpowder cost 20,000 AC each. As for 2-star ones, I’m sorry, but you’ll need the Vice Principal’s permission,” Layla explained.
“Haha, no problem. These are fine,” Leo said, clearly pleased to see something familiar from his previous life.
“What’s next? Guns?” he joked.
“Yes! We have them,” Layla replied.
Leo was immediately taken aback.
Before he could question her, she brought out three different models of firearms.
Flipping through a manual, Layla spoke carefully.
“This one is called a double-barrel shotgun… uh… M1887…? Yes, that.”
“And this one is called G18. This one is called Desert Eagle…” She seemed unsure herself why something that fit in one hand would be named after such a ferocious creature.
She listed the prices along with the ammunition.
2-star M1887 — 300,000 AC
2-star SG Ammo — 150,000 AC / 100
Normal G18 — 10,000 AC
HG Ammo — 5,000 AC / 100
1-star Desert Eagle — 30,000 AC
1-star HG Ammo — 15,000 AC / 100
But Leo stared at the list blankly.
What the fuck… They have firearms?! Then why the hell was I working so hard to make such a low-quality weapon?!
He examined the designs—everything looked industrially manufactured, precise, and clean.
“Are silencers available?” he asked, still half-dazed.
“Yes!”
“Handgun silencers — 5,000 AC.”
“Sorry, but shotguns don’t have silencers…”
Leo nodded and made his purchases without hesitation—10 normal grenades, 10 1-star grenades, 1 Desert Eagle with 100 rounds of ammo, and a silencer. As for shotguns, they were too heavy for whom he had in mind; the recoil might throw him back.
He didn’t stop there. He also bought 10 tonnes of peak 3-star beast meat for 2,000,000 AC.
Finally, he came to his main purpose.
“I need an all-way teleportation array built in my territory… the 1 million one.”
Layla nodded.
“May I see your badge, please?”
Leo handed it over.
She used a scanning device on it.
“The badge is some sort of device? I thought it was just proof that I’m an academy student…” Leo said.
“Sir, a badge is a very important utility device within the academy’s domain,” Layla explained.
Leo raised a brow.
“How so?”
“You can transfer a beast corpse directly to an academy-designated area after killing it, in exchange for credits. The amount is calculated based on the beast’s level. Of course, it’s not mandatory, but it’s useful for strong individuals like you—you won’t need to deal with low-level beasts manually. In a sense, it works like the trial metal plate, if that makes it easier to understand,” she said, continuing to scan.
That’s convenient… It’ll be very useful when I advance the Titanbreath Lotus and attract large numbers of beasts. At that point, I can just steamroll through the horde without worrying about the corpses.
“Leo’s territory… mid-green tier… 80 km away… formation time 33 days…” Layla read aloud.
She then looked at him, momentarily stunned.
“Sir, you managed to raise your territory to mid-green tier so quickly?”
Realizing she had overstepped, she quickly corrected herself.
“I-I’m very sorry! What I meant to say is—you’ll need to wait 27 more days before a teleportation array of any kind can be constructed in your territory.”
Leo frowned.
“Why so?”
Layla explained, her tone turning more formal.
“Sir, after the newbie protection period ends—which, in your case, happened 3 days ago—and your territory information is revealed to the entire academy, a mandatory bounty is issued for the next 30 days.”
She continued,
“It’s a special bounty. Only students from the same term and those ranked below the territory leader are allowed to attack and demolish the territory to gain credits and prosperity points for their own territory.”
“In your case, it will be all the fresher students, since you are ranked at the top. And to ensure that no upperclassmen interfere, a professor will be stationed nearby.”
Then she added slowly.
“I am sure, other top 10 students will surely attack to remove a competitor…”
