Abandoned Woman Busy Farming
Chapter 2874 - 2875: Rescuing a Young Woman
Chapter 2874: Chapter 2875: Rescuing a Young Woman
"Little demon?" Bai Ruozhu was somewhat surprised. If it’s a little demon, does it really require such a huge commotion to signal for help?
The astrologer emerged from one side, looking as if he was casting a spell, but his lips were tightly pressed, clearly showing some anger.
"It’s a little demon with not much demon power, but it’s too good at escaping. We don’t want to set the tiger back on the mountain, so we’re setting up an array to catch it. Therefore, we need more manpower."
"Is it that Dream Demon?" Bai Ruozhu asked.
"Yes, that’s her." Ao Song rolled up his sleeves, revealing a forearm like a tender lotus root. "I must catch it today!"
Even Ao Song was angry; this little demon indeed had some skill.
But the expressions of both were more than just fear of ’setting the tiger back on the mountain’; they seemed a bit flustered. Could there have been more happening that they haven’t mentioned?
Bai Ruozhu chuckled secretly, she was very curious.
"Didn’t you bring many people?" Ao Song said with some dissatisfaction, then waved her hand, "Never mind, this is enough. Just listen to me later and get into your positions; don’t run around."
"Okay," Bai Ruozhu agreed.
Ao Song and the astrologer continued drawing talismans, both busy with their work, yet the atmosphere felt particularly harmonious. Bai Ruozhu’s eyes narrowed with a smile. Perhaps the astrologer was more suitable for Ao Song than Sangta, but in the end, it was for them to decide, and as an outsider, she shouldn’t interfere.
Quickly, the two stopped. Ao Song clapped his hands, "Alright, I’ll catch it, Astrologer, you protect the array."
"Okay," the astrologer immediately agreed. It’s rare to see the astrologer agree so easily to anyone besides his elder brother Ning Yu.
"You all stand at the eight positions. If anything charges at you, do not dodge. Use the magic array for protection, and that thing won’t be able to harm you," Ao Song said.
Everyone agreed, which put Ao Song at ease to perform his spell. Soon, the array emitted a blue light, and a massive blue hand appeared out of thin air, reaching for the void.
"Caught it!" Ao Song shouted triumphantly.
The large hand grabbed a shadowy form that was too unclear for Bai Ruozhu to see what the Dream Demon truly looked like.
The Dream Demon fell into the array, letting out a tragic scream. Just as Ao Song said, it desperately charged in every direction, trying to escape. Unfortunately, no one moved even slightly; no matter how fast or strong it was, the magic array forcibly slammed it back.
"Hold on until its speed slows down, then I’ll go catch it." Ao Song snorted twice. "Try running now, let’s see where you can go."
Suddenly, a black hole appeared above the array, sucking in air, making Bai Ruozhu’s hair stand on end and her clothing flutter upwards.
"What’s happening?" she asked anxiously.
Before Ao Song could answer, the black Dream Demon was sucked in before he could stop it.
"Damn it, chase!" Ao Song, more frustrated, shouted and gave chase. Bai Ruozhu, worried, quickly called out Jianqi and the others to follow.
The astrologer looked up at the sky. The black hole had vanished, revealing a hint of confusion in his eyes.
They chased up the mountain, crossing two more peaks, but still could not find any trace of the Dream Demon.
"What was that just now?" Bai Ruozhu reached out to Ao Song, signaling her to pause. Continuing to chase blindly wasn’t effective, what if they were chasing in the wrong direction?
"It was probably its accomplice, or the person behind the scenes; we have to bring them to light," Ao Song said through gritted teeth.
Bai Ruozhu patted her shoulder, "Calm down, calm down a bit."
The astrologer had a stern face, "I think it might have been a heavenly and earthly phenomenon."
"Heavenly and earthly phenomenon?" Ao Song frowned, contemplating deeply.
"Yes, earlier I didn’t sense any demonic power or detect any fluctuations of the magic technique. That little demon kept running this way, perhaps knowing that a heavenly and earthly phenomenon here could save it. But as for how this phenomenon appeared specifically, I couldn’t figure it out either," the astrologer said.
Bai Ruozhu suddenly understood, "Is it not like the Gu Island near Fusang, where people get sucked into a place and ten days later reappear?"
The astrologer nodded, "Yes, something similar."
"Whether it’s man-made or a heavenly and earthly phenomenon, we need to figure it out," Ao Song decided firmly.
Suddenly, a woman’s scream echoed from a distant cliff, followed by the sound of a massive amount of vines being pulled.
Bai Ruozhu immediately turned her head to look. In the moonlight, she saw a small gray spot on the distant cliff. In the moment she looked, the person let out another scream and fell over ten meters.
"There’s someone over there, looks like they fell off the cliff; let’s go check," Bai Ruozhu said, moving quickly, seeing as the person seemed about to fall to their death.
They headed toward the cliff from where the sound had come, only to find a gorge in their path. They could see the opposite side but couldn’t get there.
On the cliff over there, a woman dressed in gray earthen cloth was continually screaming for help, "Help me, help me!"
She grasped the vines on the cliff face, but they weren’t completely secure, her body sliding down bit by bit.
"It’s a person," said Ao Song, "But the distance is too far, even throwing a rope wouldn’t reach."
"I have a way." The astrologer announced, taking out a paper crane and blowing on it.
The paper crane instantly enlarged and flew towards the woman hanging on the cliff, supporting her and carrying her over to them.
The woman must have been terrified, her expression twisted, still screaming constantly, until the paper crane landed in front of the astrologer and turned to ash, yet the woman continued screaming.
Ao Song gave a sharp slap, "Quiet!"
A red handprint appeared on the woman’s face, finally silencing her screams.
"Why did you hit me?" The woman snapped back to her senses, covering her face with grievances.
"You were murdering our eardrums. It’s a good thing I didn’t cut off your tongue," Ao Song retorted angrily.
Bai Ruozhu tugged at her, signaling to avoid scaring the woman, then approached and asked, "Where are you from? Why are you in the mountains late at night?"
"Who are you guys? What was that that just flew me here?" the woman asked, both indignant and fearful.
Bai Ruozhu frowned slightly, "We rescued you. Can you answer our questions first?"
This girl wasn’t the most likable, screaming like a slaughtered pig was too noisy. But given that she was thoroughly terrified, it was understandable. Yet after regaining her senses, shouldn’t she first thank those who saved her and answer the benefactors’ questions?
"I, I just wanted to go down the mountain, then accidentally stepped off the path," her eyes flickered, as if she was hiding something.
Ao Song, losing her patience, scrutinized her up and down, saying, "We’re hunting demons. You, with your unclear background, who knows if you’re in league with them?"
"Don’t be ridiculous. How could I be in league with demons? Besides, where are these demons you speak of? Aren’t you the suspicious ones, roaming the mountains at night?" the woman argued defiantly.
