Chapter 338: Chapter 338: Seraphina’s Next Target (Part 2)

My God!

Isn’t this just completely insane?

...

Some of the young heirs from wealthy families were already stunned by Nadia Chapman’s accomplishments. They were all around the same age, but while they were still just partying and fooling around, she was already the head of a corporation! They still had to ask their families for an allowance every month, yet she was already raking in cash by the handful? How could they not feel utterly inadequate?

The older, more experienced businessmen—veterans of the corporate world—had long ago mastered the art of remaining perfectly composed, even in the face of immense pressure. Yet, after hearing what Chester Sykes said, even they couldn’t hide the shock in their eyes.

What had happened to Keystone Technologies was no longer a secret within their circle. Everyone knew its entire R&D team had walked out and its core research secrets had been leaked. They had all assumed Keystone Technologies was doomed—that even if it didn’t go bankrupt, it would be acquired by Hale Corporation. But against all odds, Keystone Technologies had miraculously pulled through!

The industry had long speculated that Chester Sykes must have found a new source of funding to keep Keystone Technologies afloat. It was just that ever since his shocking stunt at Hale Corporation’s product launch, Chester Sykes hadn’t been seen in public. Thus, everyone could only speculate, never getting a definitive answer. Now, it seemed the person who had injected the funds into Keystone Technologies was this very young woman in her early twenties!

From what Chester Sykes had just implied, he was no longer the company’s owner. Keystone Technologies now belonged to Nadia Chapman. Even considering the stock’s wild fluctuations, buying a majority stake from Chester Sykes would have required an astronomical sum of money! Where on earth did this young woman get that kind of capital?

"The auction has begun. Does everyone intend to keep standing around here? Surely I’m not more interesting than the antiques?" Nadia Chapman offered a polite smile, and without another glance at the Chapman father and daughter, she took Chester Sykes’s arm again and walked into the hall.

"Wait! Where did you get that kind of money? Why don’t I know anything about this?" Snapping out of his shock, Justin Chapman hurried after her and blocked her path. The onlookers, who had been about to enter the main hall, all paused, waiting for Nadia Chapman’s answer. At this moment, the story of how she made her fortune was far more alluring than any expensive antique.

"All your attention is on the company and that mother-daughter duo. How much do you really know about me? Do you know my birthday? My favorite food? My hobbies? My grades? You probably don’t even know how old I am. For you to come asking about this now... you think that will accomplish anything?"

Nadia Chapman didn’t spare him a single glance. She held her head high, stared straight ahead, and began to walk. ’If someone doesn’t care about you, then you don’t need to care about them, either!’

A flicker of guilt crossed Justin Chapman’s mind, but it was instantly extinguished by the prospect of personal gain. He put on the airs of a concerned parent again. "I am your father! Is that any way to speak to an elder? Where did your manners go?"

"Manners?" Nadia Chapman laughed mockingly, her eyes flashing with a sharp light. "Did you ever teach me any?"

"You—" Justin Chapman was speechless once again. He suddenly realized the young woman before him was completely different from his memory of her. She was no longer the meek, silent, easily-overlooked girl he recalled. She had become sharp and prickly, like a porcupine, ready to jab anyone who dared to cross her.

"Enough of this nonsense! Just tell me, where did you get such a massive amount of capital?" Justin Chapman steered the conversation back to his primary concern. This was his true goal.

"My mother passed away many years ago, but I trust you haven’t forgotten what she used to do. And I," Nadia declared with immense pride, "am my mother’s daughter!" This was, perhaps, the thing she was proudest of in her entire life—having had such a wonderful mother.
