A second chance with my billionaire husband
Chapter 2173: Pregnancy 1_2
There were only three people in the B?scan room. The air conditioner was on, the temperature was neither cold nor hot, yet Yun Ya was drenched in sweat.
She had never been this nervous in her life, like she was about to march onto the execution ground.
Her period hadn’t come this month, but she hadn’t really paid attention. On top of that, she’d been dry heaving frequently lately. Even with Yun Ya’s slow reaction, she had more or less sensed what was going on, but she didn’t dare believe that joy would arrive this quickly. Her nerves had been stretched taut these past few days, terrified it would all be for nothing.
Last night she finally mustered up the courage to take her own pulse…
In that moment she was almost knocked senseless by the sudden happiness, wishing she could rush to Brother Yan right away to tell him the good news, wishing even more she could announce it to the whole world, let everyone know she had finally gotten what she wanted, fulfilling the dream of two lifetimes.
She was almost moved to tears of joy; her life had finally turned sweet after all the bitterness, and Heaven was willing to be kind to her in the end.
In the sacred church, under the gaze of countless guests offering their blessings, under that man’s gaze so deeply affectionate, she finally couldn’t hold back from sharing this good news with him—but she was too naive, she misjudged how much that man loved her.
His love was selfish, domineering, forceful; he would never allow anyone to threaten her life. She was his only one, his one and only.
Even if it was his own flesh and blood, in front of her, he would still mercilessly erase it.
Yun Ya was truly scared.
She stood there in a daze. The female doctor gave her a gentle smile. “Don’t be nervous, come, lie down here.”
Yun Ya pressed her lips together, glanced at the tall silhouette behind the curtain, and slowly lay down.
She lifted her top, revealing her flat, fair little belly.
Yun Ya closed her eyes and took a deep breath, both hands hanging at her sides, clenched into tight fists.
The female doctor spread coupling gel over Yun Ya’s belly. After smoothing it out, she picked up the ultrasound probe and began slowly moving it over her abdomen. The imaging of the abdominal cavity began to appear on the screen in front of them. An ordinary person wouldn’t be able to tell what it meant. Yun Ya gave it a glance, froze, and dug her nails deep into her palms.
The female doctor slowly smiled and said, “Congratulations, you are indeed pregnant. But it’s still early, the implantation isn’t very stable yet. You absolutely must stay in bed and rest for now. Don’t let things weigh on your mind—keeping a cheerful mood is very important. Come back for regular checkups.”
These words sounded like the music of Heaven in Yun Ya’s ears. She had hoped for this for so long, waited for this for so long; this day had finally come.
Crystal tears slipped from her beautiful eyes.
Seeing this, the female doctor laughed and said gently, “You look quite young. Are you really ready to be a mother? It’s a very arduous journey.”
Yun Ya nodded hard. She had been ready for a long time.
The curtain was suddenly yanked aside, revealing the man’s dark face. His gaze fixed on the screen, and in his eyes there wasn’t the slightest excitement at becoming a father—only an unfathomable coldness.
When they came out of the B?scan room, Yan Song supported Yun Ya to rest in a separate little lounge. The female doctor who had met them in the parking lot walked in carrying two cups of warm water. She first shot Yan Song a curious glance. Although this man was extraordinarily handsome, his aura was so overwhelmingly forceful that she didn’t dare look for more than a second. Her gaze fell on Yun Ya, full of curiosity and envy, though she hid it well. After setting the cups down, she lowered her head and walked out.
Yun Ya rested one hand on her belly, her expression exceptionally gentle as she murmured, “Brother Yan, I absolutely have to keep this child. I hope you can be a good father.”
Yan Song gave her a deep look, his eyes narrowing slightly. In that long silence, Yun Ya’s heart twisted into a knot. She felt both sad and helpless. She understood Brother Yan’s thoughts, but she couldn’t agree.
In her eyes there was a profound resolve and a determination as unshakable as mountains and seas.
Yan Song walked over and reached out to ruffle her hair with his large hand. “Mm.”
Yun Ya lifted her head to look at him, excited. “Brother Yan, you agree?”
Yan Song’s lips curved slightly as he said slowly, “I won’t do anything that would make you sad.”
Yun Ya understood that he had compromised. She threw herself into his arms at once, wrapping her arms around his waist. “The baby and I will stay with you forever.”
Yun Ya didn’t see the fleeting complexity in the eyes of the man above her.
Yun Ya was happy because Yan Song had accepted this child, and what made her even happier was that a new life was about to come into her world—a life that belonged to her and Brother Yan, the crystallization of their love. On the way back, the corners of her lips never came down as she chattered on, planning their future.
“I hope it’s a boy, a boy as handsome as Brother Yan. He’ll be all proud and tsundere, just like Brother Yan was when he was little…” The more Yun Ya spoke, the more excited she became, even imagining what the child would look like in the future.
Just thinking about it made her so excited her whole body trembled.
Yan Song drove in silence, not interrupting her planning. The corners of his mouth held a gentle smile, and he occasionally glanced at her. But when he looked forward again, there was only bottomless ice in his eyes.
Yun Ya was completely oblivious to the change in the man beside her. She thought no man would dislike his own flesh and blood, that he just needed time to straighten out his thoughts. But Yan Song simply didn’t fit into that assumption at all.
Back at Meijing Tiancheng, Yan Song didn’t let Yun Ya’s feet touch the ground, carrying her the entire way. Yun Ya buried her face against his chest, happily accepting his attentiveness.
The front door had a digital lock. Yun Ya entered the code, and the door opened with a click.
Yan Song strode in with her in his arms.
In the living room, Zhuang Xiyue sat upright and rigid, her face dark with anger, her eyes sharp as knives shooting over.
Yan Ke was lounging lazily to the side, the corners of his mouth hooked in a “can’t-wait-to-watch-the-show” smile.
Yun Ya froze for a second, then hurriedly struggled to get out of Yan Song’s arms. Yan Song gave her no chance, setting her down directly on the sofa. From beginning to end he was absurdly calm, completely ignoring the other two.
Zhuang Xiyue was almost smoking with rage from all seven orifices. She pointed at Yan Song and cursed, “You little bastard, if you don’t give me a reasonable explanation today, believe it or not I’ll skin you alive. You’re going to be the death of me…”
Yan Ke didn’t forget to add fuel to the fire on the side. “Mom, I’m sure my brother had his reasons. He cares so much about Sis?in?law, there’s no way he’d let her bear all that public pressure alone. Bro, don’t you think so? Huh, Sis?in?law, are you sick? Why do you look so pale?”
Yun Ya touched her own cheek, hesitating over whether to speak, but Yan Song beat her to it, his voice as steady and cold as ever.
“Yun Ya really isn’t feeling well. I was worried about her health, so I took her to the hospital. I didn’t take the guests into consideration—that’s my fault. I’ll call to apologize to each of them tomorrow. As for the wedding… I’ll hold another one.”
Yun Ya faltered and instinctively glanced at Yan Song. There was no warmth at all on the man’s handsome face. Her heart suddenly tugged tight, her hand hanging at her side clenched, and her throat felt raw.
Why was he hiding it? Could it be that deep down he still didn’t want this child?
When Zhuang Xiyue heard that Yun Ya wasn’t feeling well, she no longer had the mind to pursue Yan Song’s mistake. She stared at Yun Ya anxiously, pressing, “What doesn’t feel right, Yun Ya? Did you get checked at the hospital? What did the doctor say?”
Bitterness welled up in Yun Ya’s heart. She forced a small tug at the corner of her lips. “False alarm…”
Zhuang Xiyue was not someone who could be brushed off so easily. Holding Yun Ya’s hand, she said worriedly, “I’ll make an appointment with a doctor and have you thoroughly checked again. It’s your health we’re talking about—we can’t afford to be careless.” As she spoke, she took her phone out of her bag to make a call.
With her status, getting an appointment with a famous doctor was just a matter of one sentence.
