Chapter 2166: Chapter 531: Together Until Old, Never Abandoning Each Other
Zhuang Xiyue first patted Yun Ya’s hand, then fiercely glared at Yan Song: "See? Yun Ya is more sensible, willingly takes the blame for you. Do you have any guts at all? Aren’t you ashamed?"
Yun Ya coughed: "Aunt Zhuang, it’s really not Brother Yan’s fault; it was my idea."
"Yun Ya, don’t speak for him. I just know it must be this kid’s idea. It’s not the first time he’s done something like this. When he was ten, during the Spring Festival, he left a note claiming he was ’traveling,’ ran off and had us worried to death. We almost called the police. Meanwhile, he was having the time of his life out there."
Yun Ya raised an eyebrow at Yan Song, who calmly sipped tea, frowned and said, "Old stories, why dredge them up?"
Yan Song disliked crowds, especially during the New Year when relatives gather together. As a child, he hated New Year the most; receiving New Year’s money gave him no joy. So he would go out on his own, carrying a backpack, under the pretense of exploring the country and gaining knowledge.
Last year it wasn’t easy for him to spend New Year at home. Zhuang Xiyue thought he had settled down. Who knew, even with an upcoming wedding, he was still incorrigible, dragging Yun Ya along in his antics.
Zhuang Xiyue thought she hit Yan Song’s weak spot, triumphantly telling Yun Ya many embarrassing tales from Yan Song’s childhood, even digging up the black history of him wetting his pants as a kid. Yan Song’s composed demeanor finally cracked, showing a hint of irritation, as he coldly snorted and left.
Yun Ya laughed till his stomach hurt; who would’ve thought Brother Yan was so amusing as a child? Aloof and proud little boys are the cutest.
Their wedding was scheduled for June. After the New Year, wedding plans were underway. Zhuang Xiyue was frantically busy, vowing to give Yun Ya a wedding to remember for a lifetime, while Yan Song and Yun Ya took a hands-off approach, retreating to Jiangzhou for peace and quiet.
In early March, spring brought warmth and blooming flowers, as everything was coming to life.
Pei Qinghan’s eyes gradually improved following Professor Lin Ya’s surgery, though they inevitably resulted in aftereffects. During the day, he was like any normal person, but come nighttime, when lights couldn’t illuminate his world, his eyes were as blind, unable to see a thing.
He accepted this gladly.
Pei Qinghan was now rarely seen in public, giving the impression he had secluded himself. Even the Han Yi Gang kept a low profile. On Jiangzhou’s turf, Ning Zihuan was the most brazen, untouchable, whispered to mock him behind his back, "When the old tiger is away, the monkey reigns as king." Ning Zihuan didn’t care how others taunted him in secret. He did as he pleased, reveled in whatever brought him joy.
For instance, upon hearing Yun Ya’s wedding was three months away and invitations had already gone out, he took a team to smash the place, venting his discontent and fury. He beat up that punk so badly his own mother couldn’t recognize him—a pity the punk never knew he was targeted for having cursed him a few times in private, and suffered an irrational vendetta.
He even took a group to provoke the Han Yi Gang’s turf. The Han Yi Gang chose to avoid confrontation, reflecting a degree of tolerance, which further fed Ning Zihuan’s arrogance. People secretly wondered what was wrong with Pei Qinghan. Why did he ignore rival provocations, lacking any semblance of his former gang leader dominance?
"Pei Qinghan, you coward, craven, weakling, only daring to hide and weep where the sun doesn’t shine. Get out here! Since you like her, why not snatch her away? Make such a disturbance that it turns the world upside down. What’s Yan Song compared to you? No matter what you pay for her, I’ll say it—Ning Zihuan only respects you."
Ning Zihuan shouted at the Pei Family Villa, his voice echoing in the wilderness. Other than Pei Qinghan’s people, no outsiders could hear him.
Fu Bai clenched his fist, desperate to kick this annoying troublemaker away. He’d had enough of this madman. Brother Han was disillusioned, always yielding, while Ning Zihuan went too far, pushing him around now almost cheekily, as if Han Yi Gang feared him.
"Pei Qinghan, come out. Do you really want to watch the woman for whom you gave so much marry someone else? Count me as wrong, Ning Zihuan misjudged you."
Ning Zihuan’s throat was dry from shouting, but the villa remained silent.
"Damn it." Ning Zihuan cursed under his breath, ruthlessly kicking a car wheel in frustration.
"Third Young Master, let’s leave. There are many guns aimed at us right now; if anything..." Jing He spoke cautiously, helpless against his own Third Young Master’s shamelessness.
