Chapter 2165: Chapter 531: Till Death Do Us Part—Never Leaving, Never Forsaking_16
Nuannuan ran excitedly to Yun Ya, holding Yun Ya’s hand: "She is my godmother. Handsome brother, do you like her?"
Yan Song chuckled: "I like her."
Lin Sili was too embarrassed to look.
"But, you can’t call me Brother."
"Then what should I call you?" she asked innocently with upturned eyes.
"Since you call her godmother, you can only call me godfather."
Nuannuan curiously glanced at Lin Sili; with her limited little mind, she couldn’t yet comprehend such complex titles.
However, Nuannuan’s emotional intelligence was impressive; she quickly shouted sweetly, godfather.
The smile on Yan Song’s face became more genuine, as he ruffled her little head.
"Good girl."
Yan Song in this moment was something Yun Ya had never seen before, a serene smile graced her lips, warming her heart slightly.
In the deep, quiet night, in the depth of passion, he whispered in her ear, every word piercing her soul, tender and lingering.
"If you really like children, then let’s adopt one."
Please forgive my selfishness. I can’t bear to watch you walk into danger, especially when this danger started because of me.
Yun Ya remained silent, just holding him tight.
——
Yun Miao took some time to come back, the two of them talked for a long time, and when Yun Ya suggested that he take over Ji’s, Yun Miao paused in silence.
He agreed.
He extended this life, and accordingly, he must shoulder the responsibility of this body. Moreover, he had witnessed Yun Ya’s hardships along the way and couldn’t bear to let her toil anymore.
From now on, she could live a carefree life in the paradise he built for her, without tears, without pain, only boundless happiness and stability.
Yun Miao took a couple of steps, suddenly hearing Yun Ya’s voice behind him: "Miaomiao."
Yun Miao paused slightly, turning back to glance at her.
The smile on Yun Ya’s face carried an elusive unrealness, yet it was so beautiful.
"You are my Miaomiao, right?"
He saw the sadness behind that smile, but he didn’t know how to explain it.
Pressing his lips tightly, he strode over, holding her in his arms.
"I will always be here."
As long as you need, I will always be here, never leaving you alone.
Yun Miao stayed for just one night before leaving. Before he left, he had a conversation with Yan Song in the study, but Yun Ya didn’t care nor wanted to ask about it. After coming out, Yun Miao left.
He was always in such a hurry, not even having time for a cup of tea. Yun Ya stood in front of the floor-to-ceiling window, watching his figure gradually recede under the sun, shedding his previous frailty and thinness, no longer needing her protection; he had grown strong enough.
She knew, Miaomiao was no longer the Miaomiao of the past; he was destined not to belong to this small place, with vast horizons waiting for him to spread his wings. She was waiting for him to grow strong enough one day.
A pair of arms encircled her waist, and Yun Ya fell into a warm yet firm embrace. The man intimately nestled beside her ear, whispering softly: "It’s almost New Year’s, have you decided where to go?"
For this New Year, the two of them traveled to Hawaii, leaving their footprints in this romantic city, but eventually, they were pulled back to reality by Zhuang Xiyue’s insistent calls.
"You two are living carefree lives; Yan Ke also went abroad. Other families are gathered together, leaving just the two of us in this lonely and desolate New Year, truly frustrating."
Yun Ya stood by the floor-to-ceiling window; outside was an endless ocean, the blue sky and the clear sea reflecting each other, stunningly beautiful.
Yun Ya glanced at Yan Song, who was packing, and whispered: "Aunt Zhuang, I’m sorry, we’ll book the nearest flight back."
Zhuang Xiyue sighed: "Yun Ya, it’s not that Aunt blames you; Aunt misses you. After the New Year, it’s time to start preparing your wedding."
Mentioning the wedding, Yun Ya’s face couldn’t help turning red.
The two of them took the latest available flight back home that night. The festive atmosphere of the holiday was still lingering everywhere, with illuminated decorations all around, creating a strong ambiance.
Zhuang Xiyue first scolded Yan Song, then showed her concern for Yun Ya, without a hint of blame. After all, the two left for abroad without any notice, which couldn’t be justified, especially during New Year’s, a time of family reunions. However, Zhuang Xiyue acted as if nothing happened, showing utmost care towards Yun Ya. Anyone unaware might even think that Yan Song was adopted and Yun Ya was her biological daughter.
Yun Ya felt a warm sensation in her heart, smiling as she held onto Zhuang Xiyue’s arm, "Aunt Zhuang, it was my idea, not Brother Yan’s fault. It was wrong of me not to inform you before going abroad, but next Spring Festival, we will definitely spend it with you."
