Chapter 801: Chapter 798: You Will Never Meet Him Again in This Life

Clara naturally heard the underlying meaning in his words. She turned her head to look at him, knitting her delicate brows as she asked, "What do you mean?"

"Nothing. I’m just a little curious," Seth Quinn replied, his face calm, but his gaze slightly dark.

Seth loved to get jealous; Clara had always known that. But she found that his jealousy had been flaring up even more lately—he would get jealous over anything and everything.

She knew it was because he cared about her, so she patiently explained, "I don’t know him. Like I said just now, I just happened to stumble upon his car with the door open, and in a moment of desperation, I hid inside.

"As for these sunglasses, I originally wanted to pay him for them, but I realized I didn’t have any cash on me. I wanted him to leave me a business card so I could pay him back later, but he said they weren’t worth anything anyway, so I didn’t insist.

"The total time we spent in the car didn’t exceed ten minutes. During that time, we exchanged maybe a dozen sentences. We didn’t ask for each other’s names, nor did we exchange contact information."

Although she had been patient, seeing her serious and earnest explanation made Seth realize she was unhappy. He also knew he should control his temper, but he still couldn’t help scoffing. "Not worth anything? A pair of sunglasses from this brand costs at least six figures, and he just gave them to a stranger he met by chance? He sure is rich and generous." He clearly didn’t quite believe her words.

Clara forgot to be bothered by the doubt in his tone. Her mouth dropped open in surprise, and it took her a long moment to say, "I didn’t know these sunglasses were so expensive, otherwise I wouldn’t have accepted them. What... what do we do now?" How could she accept such an expensive item from a stranger? Should they go back to look for him now and return the sunglasses? However, so much time had already passed. He might have left a long time ago.

"Where did you meet him? We’ll go over and give them back," Seth said flatly, already starting the car. Something worth a hundred grand was naturally not expensive to him, but he didn’t want his woman to have any ties to another man over it.

Clara thought about it. To clear up Seth’s misunderstanding and avoid owing that man such a huge favor, this was the only way. So, she gave Seth directions, and he drove to the parking area in front of the cafe.

However, that car was indeed no longer there. Clara pointed to the empty parking space and said, "The car is gone. He’s already left."

Seth looked in the direction she was pointing, frowning in silence.

Afraid she had remembered the wrong spot, Clara looked around, but she still couldn’t find the car. She couldn’t help but sigh. "There’s no helping it. I’ll just have to pray I run into him again someday so I can return this to him."

As soon as her voice faded, Seth said in a deep tone, "You will never meet him again in your life."

Though he minded his woman accepting such an expensive gift from another man, he hoped even more that she would never cross paths with him again. Even if Clara didn’t have any intentions toward that man, there was no guarantee the man didn’t have any thoughts about her. After all, a woman like her easily made men’s hearts flutter!

Clara didn’t process the meaning behind his words at first. She looked at him and asked, "Why?"

Seth let out a light cough. As he started the car, he said in a displeased tone, "Novaria is a big city. You won’t share the same destiny with other men that you do with me, to be able to find each other in a vast sea of people."

Seeing his awkward behavior, Clara couldn’t hold back a laugh. This man really had a knack for getting jealous lately. Yet, seeing his jealous demeanor, she couldn’t bring herself to be angry.

"Yes, yes, yes. In this lifetime, I share the deepest fate with you! As for other men, heaven didn’t arrange such a profound connection for us, and I have no desire to share fate with them either."

Perhaps Clara’s words were pleasing to the ear, for Seth’s expression gradually improved. Seeing his mood change from cloudy to sunny, Clara couldn’t help but smile again. Although he was prone to jealousy, he was actually quite easy to coax.

After a while, she looked out the window and asked, "Where are we going now?"

"Home," Seth replied briefly. He had originally planned to take her to a place he prepared after dinner to give her a surprise. But today she had been frightened, and she still hadn’t eaten anything, so they could only go home first and wait for another opportunity next time.

Having run such a long way while pregnant, Clara also felt very exhausted. She leaned against the car window and gently closed her eyes, but she couldn’t help saying with a hint of regret, "True. Right now, going home to eat is our safest option."

"If we can’t eat out this time, we’ll have plenty of chances in the future. As long as you’re careful when going out, avoid crowded places, and don’t let anyone recognize you, it’ll be fine," Seth consoled her, noticing she was in low spirits.

Clara nodded with her eyes closed. She thought to herself that having to avoid crowded places when going out meant missing out on the lively atmosphere and not being able to fully enjoy herself. It really took away a lot of the fun. But she also knew that since she chose the acting profession, she had to endure the loneliness of not having roles and seeing no end in sight, as well as bear all the consequences that came with fame.

By the time Seth drove the car back to Orchidia at The Quinn Residence, he realized Clara had already fallen into a deep slumber. Earlier, he thought she had just been resting her eyes, but he hadn’t expected her to actually fall asleep.

Seth couldn’t help but shake his head. Lately, she seemed a bit lethargic. It appeared she was still too tired. After she finished shooting this drama, he had to let her rest properly for a while!

The next day.

Just like usual, Seth dropped Clara off at the film set before heading back to his company for work. Clara only turned to head to the makeup room after Seth drove away.

Before she had taken a few steps, she saw Director Keane walking over while talking on the phone.

"Alright, alright, Ryston, I understand... No problem, I’ll contact you if anything comes up." Liam Keane hung up the phone. Looking up, he saw Clara and smiled as he greeted her. "Clara, you’re here?"

After acknowledging him, Clara asked, "Director Keane, I heard you on the phone with Ryston. What happened to her?"

"Oh, it’s nothing. Ryston said she’s tied up with something and won’t be able to come to the set for the next two days." After saying that, Liam suddenly remembered something and asked, "Clara, I heard a chandelier suddenly fell yesterday and almost hit President Sterling. He seems to have gotten hurt. Is he okay?"

"Oh, he’s fine. Perfectly fine." Thinking of how River Sterling had clutched his backside and grimaced in pain, Clara tried hard to hold back her laughter and replied with a straight face.

"That’s good, that’s good. It’s good that he’s not hurt. Well then, Clara, hurry up and get your makeup done."

Clara said goodbye to Director Keane and took out her phone to call Rhys Ryston. However, no one answered the call, so Clara sent a WeChat message over: "Ryston, did you take time off to take care of Brother Sterling, who played the hero saving the damsel in distress?"

After sending it, she pushed the door open and entered the makeup room. As soon as she walked in, she saw several actresses gathered together, chattering animatedly about something.
