Chapter 746: Chapter 743: In Your Heart, She Was Always More Important Than Me, Right?

Cedric Grant’s words sounded utterly sincere, but Clara Grant merely stared at him with an indifferent expression and said coolly,

"I hope you mean what you say and that you won’t disturb my mother again. She’s had a very difficult life. She finally met Uncle Jarvis, and I want her to live the rest of her life in peace and happiness."

Cedric Grant nodded hurriedly. "Don’t worry, rest assured. I’ll keep my word. I won’t disturb her life again. But Clara, you are my biological daughter, after all. My blood flows in your veins. You can’t disown me."

"Don’t worry, I don’t have any other motive. It’s not like I’m trying to play the family card just because you’re the Young Mistress of the Quinn family now. I just don’t want to lose my daughter."

Clara Grant said nothing. Cedric Grant glanced at her before continuing gingerly, "Chloe... even though she’s done many things to wrong you... she is, after all, your own flesh and blood. She’s your little sister."

"Ever since I kicked her mother out of the Grant family home, she’s been locking herself in her room all day. She’s so listless, completely lacking the energy a young person ought to have."

"She won’t go to school. She loves acting, but she was blacklisted by a direct order from Seth Quinn. I’m truly afraid that if this continues, she’ll become depressed."

"So, Dad is begging you... please, talk to Seth Quinn and ask him to lift the ban on your sister. If she has something she enjoys doing, she won’t spend all day brooding."

Clara Grant stared at him in silence for a moment before the corners of her lips lifted into a faint smile. But the smile was filled with coldness. ’I knew he wouldn’t have come to me with all this for no reason. Just as I suspected, he has an agenda.’

"Chloe and I are both your daughters, but in your heart, she’s always been more important than me, hasn’t she?"

"No, no, that’s not true. You’re both my daughters. My feelings for you are the same. I was just..."

Before Cedric Grant could finish his defense, the phone on the table began to ring.

He glanced at it and immediately picked it up. Though he moved quickly, Clara still saw the name on the screen: Jean Jarvis.

Cedric Grant’s first instinct was to reject the call, but after a glance at Clara opposite him, his finger paused over the button and moved to answer it instead.

’He knew Clara must have seen that Jean Jarvis was calling. Not answering now would surely make her suspicious.’

’He might as well take the call in front of her to prove his integrity.’

So, after accepting the call, he even put it on speakerphone.

The moment the call connected, before Jean Jarvis could say a word, Cedric Grant spoke first. "There’s nothing left for us to talk about. Why are you calling me again?"

Jean Jarvis’s voice sounded frantic. "Cedric Grant, do you think I’d be calling you if it weren’t an emergency?! I’m asking you, where is Chloe? Where is my daughter?"

"What kind of question is that? Where else would Chloe be? She’s at home, of course." Cedric thought she was being ridiculous.

"What do you mean, at home? A maid from the house just called me and said Chloe rushed out. The maid said Chloe seemed off, and when she couldn’t get ahold of you, she called me!"

"Cedric Grant, just because I’m not in the Grant family home to see what you’re up to, does that mean you’ve started mistreating my daughter? You want to kick her out too, to make room for that mother and daughter, don’t you? Cedric Grant, I’m telling you, if you dare lay a hand on my daughter, this won’t be the end of it!"
