A Night of Desire
Chapter 710 - 707: Who Wants to Be Her Sister? She’s Not Worthy
Chapter 710: Chapter 707: Who Wants to Be Her Sister? She’s Not Worthy
After Skylar Hayes finished speaking, Cedric Grant looked over at Clara Grant. "So, Clara, what’s your opinion?"
"Since my mom has already said her piece, I have nothing more to add. Whether you hand her over to the police or you and your family deal with her behind closed doors, it has nothing to do with us. However,"
As she spoke, Clara Grant glanced at Jean Jarvis and Chloe Grant, her eyes filled with warning. "If you ever dare to bully my mom again, I definitely won’t let you off as easily as I did today!"
Clara Grant’s words—"you and your family"—made Cedric Grant a little awkward. He gave a sheepish, ingratiating smile and said:
"Clara, don’t worry. There won’t be a next time. You can rest assured. Skylar, you can rest assured, too. While I won’t hand her over to the police for old times’ sake, I’m not just going to let this go, either.
She deceived and hid things from me for so many years. I’m truly disappointed. Yes, legally, we are a family right now. But if there’s no love or trust between family members, only plotting and deceit, then what’s the point of being a family at all!"
The moment Cedric Grant’s words fell, Jean Jarvis immediately understood his meaning. ’He’s already decided to kick me and Chloe out of the Grant Family!’
Given Jean Jarvis’s personality and temper, she was sorely tempted to expose Cedric Grant for impersonating Theodore Quinn as his savior. She would rather take him down with her than let Cedric walk away unscathed!
But then she thought of her daughter, Chloe Grant. ’Taking Cedric down with me would be sweet revenge, but what would happen to Chloe?’
Jean Jarvis looked at her daughter, suppressed the rage in her eyes, and then turned to Cedric Grant. "Cedric Grant, you can divorce me. You can kick me out of the Grant Family.
But Chloe is your daughter, too. You can’t just abandon her. You can’t kick her out of the Grant Family and let her be ridiculed and scorned by everyone again."
No matter how venomous Jean Jarvis was, Chloe Grant was his biological daughter. That was a fact. Naturally, Cedric Grant didn’t want his own daughter to be cast out and suffer again, either.
But he had just pleaded on Jean’s behalf, sparing her from prison. If he immediately agreed to her demand to treat Chloe Grant well, it would inevitably make it seem like he was still biased toward Jean Jarvis and her daughter.
So, he just glanced at Chloe Grant, neither agreeing nor refusing. He then shot Jean Jarvis a subtle look and said irritably, "Let’s go. How can you still be making demands at a time like this!"
With that, he grabbed Jean Jarvis with one hand and reached for Chloe Grant with the other.
But Chloe Grant flinched, jerking her hand away from his. She was extremely agitated, clearly having suffered a mental blow. "I’m not leaving! I’m not leaving!"
As she spoke, she pointed at the photo on the big screen. "I’m still waiting for the man in the photo! I haven’t seen the result yet! I haven’t seen Clara Grant get kicked out of the Quinn Family! How can I leave? I’m not leaving! I’m not leaving..."
Cedric Grant frowned immediately, seized her hand, and barked, "Chloe Grant, at a time like this, you’re still unrepentant? You’re still dead set on hurting people? What’s more, that person is your own sister!"
At Cedric Grant’s shout, Chloe Grant trembled all over before letting out a cold laugh. "Hah, my own sister? Who wants to be sisters with her? She’s not worthy! She’s not worthy... Ah, let go of me! Let go..."
While she was screaming, Cedric Grant had already dragged her involuntarily a few steps. As they passed Clara Grant, she abruptly stopped and stared at her viciously. If Cedric wasn’t holding her back with all his might, she probably would have lunged at Clara.
