Chapter 675: Chapter 672: A Sudden Disturbance

She held onto Seth Quinn’s arm, a constant smile on her face as she greeted guests by his side.

She tried not to pay attention to the crowd, but she couldn’t help but overhear the hushed whispers of admiration and envy from the other female guests.

During a quiet moment, Clara Grant glanced down at her gown. It was undeniably beautiful. When she’d first put it on, she had stared at her reflection, stunned for a moment. She had never seen herself look so strikingly beautiful, so noble and elegant.

’But now,’ she thought, ’this dress feels too beautiful, too eye-catching. It’s making me the center of attention.’

Clara Grant fiddled with the hem of her skirt and sighed, a little dejected.

She was an actress, after all, destined to live her life under the public’s gaze, to be watched and talked about. But she still wasn’t completely used to it, and it made her feel a little uneasy.

"What’s wrong?" Seth Quinn noticed the change in her mood and asked softly, looking down at her. "Are you not used to this kind of event? Why don’t you go rest for a bit?"

Clara Grant quickly shook her head. "No, no, it’s okay. I’m a little overwhelmed, but it’s fine. I’ll have to attend these kinds of events sooner or later. I can’t just hide away every time, can I?"

As she spoke, she glanced around at the other women, who were gathered in small groups and staring at her with a mixture of envy and excitement. When the young ladies from prominent families noticed her gaze, they became thrilled, offering her small, demure waves.

Clara Grant gave them a slightly stiff smile and a nod, then quickly turned her face back to Seth Quinn. She looked at him helplessly and spread her hands. "It’s probably this custom gown you had made for me. It’s so gorgeous that every girl’s eyes are on me."

Seth Quinn also glanced over at the young high-society ladies fawning over Clara Grant and said with a smile, "I heard them. They’re all saying how beautiful you are."

He looked her up and down. "This dress really does suit you perfectly. You look beautiful. Seems my taste is pretty good after all."

Clara Grant couldn’t help but smile, pressing her lips together. She joked, "Of course it’s beautiful, but today is Dad’s birthday banquet. He’s supposed to be the main event. Isn’t it a little much for me to steal his thunder with just a dress? Dad might get angry."

"No, he won’t. He’ll be thrilled. When his own daughter-in-law is being admired and praised, doesn’t it make him look good, too?"

"This gown is certainly beautiful, but the price tag must be just as ’beautiful,’ right? I thought the other gowns you got for me before were perfectly fine. Why did you need to have a new one custom-made?"

"Those were old," Seth Quinn said with a smile, tucking a slightly curled strand of hair behind her ear.

Clara Grant understood he meant the styles were old, but from her perspective, he had only just bought them for her not long ago. The styles weren’t outdated at all.

"No, they’re not. I think they’re all lovely."

"Nearly half of Novaria is here tonight. As the young madam of the Quinn Family, you naturally have to showcase your status at the banquet. Besides, I also want my wife to be the most beautiful woman here.

I want every man in Novaria to know that this beautiful woman is my, Seth Quinn’s, wife. I want every single one of them to envy me."

Seth Quinn’s words filled Clara Grant’s heart with happiness. With a sweet, coy smile, she linked her arm through his again. "Thank you, honey."

The words had barely left her lips when a voice, laced with laughter but somehow grating, cut in. "Well, well, what are you two talking about that’s making you so happy?"
