Chapter 1442: Tell the Truth!
Chapter 1442: Chapter 1442: Tell the Truth!
Mu Yan pushed open the bedroom door; the room was extremely dark, with both layers of curtains drawn, not a hint of daylight.
She flipped the light switch, and the room instantly became bright.
The bed covers were somewhat messy, left untidied, with shards of glass on the floor, to be precise, they were broken pieces of a goblet; even the bedside lamp was shattered on the floor, in fragments.
On the bedside table, there were several wine bottles, empty, the wine entirely consumed.
The room was suffocating, and standing there just for a moment, Mu Yan felt discomfort in breathing.
She had lived in this room for so long, it was the first time it felt unfamiliar.
A picture suddenly flashed in her mind, a man agitatedly drinking wine, one sip after another, venting, when emotions reached their peak, he smashed the glass on the ground, hurling things by his side to the floor.
She closed her eyes, caressing her head, suppressing those images from appearing.
She exhaled lightly, opened her eyes, and walked inside, suddenly stopping as she saw a white plastic pill bottle on the floor, pills scattered beside it.
She bent down, picked up the bottle, and looked at the English letters on it, somewhat unfamiliar.
She took out her phone directly to search, though a premonition had already formed in her heart.
Yet, upon seeing the explanation popping up on the search interface, she was still shocked, and the pill bottle fell to the ground with a "clang".
The real reason he hadn’t come looking for her these few days was probably because he didn’t want her to notice his unusualness; no wonder when she saw him last night, he looked so fatigued, with bloodshot eyes, showing how much he had been tormented in this room these past days.
And during his discomfort, she hadn’t even been by his side.
Mu Yan’s eyes felt warm; she picked up her phone to dial Jiang Jingheng’s number again.
She wanted to know where he was now, what on earth had happened?
Unfortunately, his phone was still off, so she could only call Lian Jun, but this time Lian Jun’s phone was constantly busy.
Feeling helpless, Mu Yan called Yu Ma, inquiring about Jiang Jingheng’s condition these days.
The details were inconvenient to discuss over the phone, so she directly asked Yu Ma to come to the villa.
Downstairs, Kong Lizhen saw Mu Yan coming down and asked, "Jing Heng isn’t home?"
"Yes, he went to the company." Mu Yan smiled at her, "He’s not staying here these days, and Godmother, there’s nobody at home these days for tidying up, so I won’t keep you here."
"But there’s only you here, and I’m worried." Kong Lizhen frowned and said.
"What could happen? After all, this is my home, and besides, the servants will be coming over soon." Mu Yan smiled, "Tomorrow or the day after, I’ll go to the hotel to find you, and we can go out together."
Kong Lizhen hesitated, reluctant to part from her.
Just then, she received a call.
"Okay, I understand."
She hung up and said to Mu Yan, "Then I’ll leave first; call me if anything comes up."
"Alright." Mu Yan nodded and saw her off from the villa.
Once Kong Lizhen left, the smile on Mu Yan’s face vanished.
She stood in the vast living room, looking in the direction of the stairs, feeling a heavy sense of oppression.
She glanced around, remembering that dream in which she was trapped here.
Indeed, without Jiang Jingheng, this place felt like a cage.
About half an hour later, Yu Ma arrived.
Seeing Mu Yan sitting in the living room with a not-so-good complexion, she approached and asked, "Young Madam, I wasn’t aware you’d be back today; sorry to keep you waiting."
Mu Yan shook her head at her, "It’s okay."
She looked at Yu Ma and asked, "Has Jing Heng been staying at the villa these days?"
"Young Master is indeed staying at the villa." Yu Ma looked at her in confusion, "What’s wrong?"
"Then why aren’t you at the villa?" Mu Yan asked with a frown.
Upon hearing this, Yu Ma’s gaze flickered as she said, "Just so happens I had some family issues and couldn’t come over; I took leave."
Mu Yan noticed her expression in full detail and said solemnly, "But there shouldn’t be no one at home to tidy up; the Jiang Family has more than just one servant. Yu Ma, speak the truth."
