Chapter 218: Puppet (4)
Chapter 218: Chapter 218: Puppet (4)
Inside the Divine Brick,
A huge tree with golden leaves could be seen from afar.
Its thick branches seeming to cover the sky, while the ground was littered with many smaller trees.
Usually, golden lights could be seen flying around the Divine Tree, but this time, none were visible, as all of the nurtured souls were gathered at the very top of the tree.
At the top of the Divine Tree,
Among its thick branches, many buds of light could be seen perching there, as if they were birds curiously staring at the scene below.
Crack.
Crack.
Below,
Li Feng was moving around a wooden body lying atop a table, as if he were performing surgery.
The puppet on the table was unlike any ordinary construct.
Its body carved from the thick, golden-veined branches of Little Ling as it glowed faintly with an inner light.
The wood’s surface was smooth and polished, yet its natural grain shimmered like flowing energy, pulsing in rhythm.
Its face was narrow and symmetrical, with high cheekbones, a sharp jawline, and no mouth.
Only a pair of eye sockets marked its face, faintly glowing with golden light, suggesting the intelligence and awareness it would one day possess.
Thin, angular markings ran from its temples down to its neck, faintly etched into the wood and pulsing gently.
These markings would act as conduits for spiritual energy, enhancing perception and reaction once it moved.
Its shoulders were wide and solid, shaped like a trained human body rather than a statue.
The chest was layered with overlapping wooden plates fitted tightly together, leaving the hollow at the center fully exposed, as if waiting for the core to be inserted.
Thin golden lines spread out from that hollow, running across the chest and into the arms like veins.
The arms were long and well-built.
Each joint was cleanly carved, allowing smooth movement without gaps.
The forearms were slightly thicker, reinforced to take direct impact.
The hands had five evenly sized fingers, with clear knuckles and joints, made for gripping weapons or forming hand seals.
The waist was narrow, connecting to strong hips and thick legs.
The thighs and calves were dense, carved to support speed and jumping power.
Its feet were bare and flat, with shallow patterns carved into the soles to prevent slipping.
Overall, the puppet looked like a silent humanoid body made purely for battle….nothing wasted, nothing decorative.
“Phew.”
Li Feng let out a sigh of relief after finally connecting the conduit pathways of the puppet.
He smiled as he looked at the ten puppets lying neatly on the wooden bed.
“Good thing I have Little Ling. Otherwise, there’s no way I could’ve finished these puppets with Rank-5 wood material…”
Li Feng couldn’t help but feel a bit intimidated by the complexity of handling even a Rank 5 Divine Wood.
The Divine Tree’s wood was truly extraordinary.
With his current talent as a Rank-1 Puppet Master, there was no way he should have been able to shape it into such a precise and responsive form.
The Divine Wood of Little Ling was unlike anything he had ever handled before.
Even if he had been a Rank-3 or Rank-4 Puppet Master, he still felt he wouldn’t have been able to handle it properly.
It wasn’t just that it was tough to bend and shape…..the real challenge lay inside.
Each grain, each vein of energy, demanded careful coaxing, precise handling, and constant attention.
A single misstep could shatter the conduit network or disrupt the spiritual resonance entirely.
It seemed that merely handling the material alone demanded an understanding that bordered on intuition, and he had a feeling he would need to be at least a Rank-5 Puppet Master to accomplish it on his own.
But with Little Ling’s help, since the wood was hers to begin with, she could easily guide the energy and shape the form naturally.
Which was why he didn’t want to spend any more Favor Points to upgrade his Puppet Master talent as he didn’t have that many left and planned to conserve them for emergencies.
Not to mention,
Little Ling wasn’t just helping… she was doing the hard part, to the point that he only needed to handle the basics while Little Ling took care of all the difficult work.
Without her, Li Feng knew he would’ve been fumbling blindly with this wood, and it probably would’ve ended in splinters or ruined conduits.
“~”
Little Ling seemed pleased by Li Feng’s words, her golden leaves rustling softly.
The other nurtured souls, who had been quietly watching the scene, seemed to brighten as well, as if sharing their mother’s happiness.
Li Feng wiped the sweat from his brow and smiled before glancing at the hollow in the puppet’s chest.
The core was ready to be inserted at any time.
“Alright… let’s see if you’re worth all this trouble,” he muttered.
He picked up one of the ten nurtured souls with great care and slowly placed it into the hollow.
Crack.
Crack.
Immediately, the hollow in the chest sealed itself with flowing wood.
Then—
The puppet shuddered.
A faint hum spread across the surface of its body, as golden veins lighting up as energy flowed through the conduits, following every line he had carved.
Its head twitched, and soon its eyes flickered open, glowing with a faint golden light.
“…”
It looked at Li Feng for a moment before standing up and kneeling on one knee, as if greeting its master, its father, and….its creator.
Li Feng circled the puppet slowly as his eyes scanning every joint, every conduit and every line of golden energy running across its body.
He crouched slightly, resting his hands on his knees and let out a low whistle, nodding in satisfaction after finding no issues.
He then checked its status.
