"Polly Linden? Male or female? I don't know them! I haven't had any private dealings with Brent Lowell."

Lane Quincy spoke with a firm tone as he said this.

Dirk Carter then asked, "Last question, why were you in contact with Farrell Lowell?"

As soon as this question was posed.

Lane Quincy was momentarily lost for words.

Dirk Carter said, "Secretary Quincy, please don't have any psychological reservations, this matter is very serious for you. You must tell me the truth, only then can I possibly help clear your name."

Clear my name?

Shouldn't Dirk Carter be trying to ruin me?

Could he really help me?

In a flash of lightning.

For reasons unknown.

Lane Quincy actually trusted Dirk Carter.

He sighed deeply and said, "It was Jasmine Summers from your Municipal Commission for Discipline Inspection who contacted me, and it was she who gave me the location of Farrell Lowell's hideout."

"Alright, I understand, Secretary Quincy. Given the circumstances, please face reality calmly and don't do anything foolish. If you are truly innocent, please believe that I will help you."

After saying this.

Dirk Carter hung up the phone.

Looking at the swaying rope in front of him.

For some mysterious reason, a glimmer of hope appeared deep in his heart.

Lane Quincy took a deep breath, opened the study door.

Then walked straight to the front door of the house.

Extending his hands towards the people at the door...

Greshire County Hospital.

As soon as Dirk Carter arrived at the entrance, he saw four police vehicles.

This showed.

The number of police officers dispatched from Mountridge County was quite large.

Sure enough.

Two fully armed police officers were stationed at the hospital entrance, and there were guards at the stairway and in the corridors.

Just as he arrived on the level where Brent Lowell was located.

Dirk Carter heard a commotion.

Rushing into the ward, he saw.

Seven or eight police officers holding a standoff with the Municipal Commission for Discipline Inspection team led by Elbert Rivers.

Both sides were at loggerheads, neither willing to yield.

The leading man, dressed in a white shirt, was Mountridge County's Deputy County Head and Police Chief, Antero Fletcher.

"Secretary General Carter is here."

Suddenly, someone called out.

As if seeing a savior, Elbert Rivers squeezed through the crowd, hurried to Dirk Carter's side, and reported the situation in a low voice.

The Mountridge County Police Department side.

Antero Fletcher was holding a municipal red-letter document, demanding to immediately take custody of Brent Lowell.

Elbert Rivers was struggling to hold on, fortunately, Dirk Carter arrived in time.

Seeing Dirk Carter.

Antero Fletcher dared not show disrespect.

He proactively walked over, gave Dirk Carter a salute.

Respectfully said, "Hello, Secretary General Carter, I'm Antero Fletcher from Mountridge County."

"Hello, Chief Fletcher."

Dirk Carter nodded slightly and said.

"Secretary General Carter, it's the municipal directive for us to take custody of Brent Lowell, but your Commission for Discipline Inspection members are not handing him over; Secretary General Carter, we are simply following orders, so..."

"I understand, Chief Fletcher. How about this, give me fifteen minutes, I just need fifteen minutes to chat with Brent Lowell, after the conversation, I'll hand him over to you."

Dirk Carter proposed.

Antero Fletcher thought for a moment.

He said, "Since you've spoken, Leader, how could I refuse? Please, Secretary General Carter."

Once Dirk Carter walked into the ward.

He drove everyone out.

On the hospital bed, Brent Lowell was not seriously injured.

However, he also pretended to keep his eyes closed as if he wasn't concerned about the situation.

Dirk Carter pulled up a chair, sat down next to him, paused, and said, "Brent Lowell, now that things have reached this point, I think you are clearer about what the truth is than I am."

Brent Lowell slowly opened his eyes.

Glancing at Dirk Carter.

With a disdainful tone, he said, "Sorry, Secretary General Carter, I don't know anything."

"Fine, it's okay, if you don't want to talk, it's alright. I'm here to notify you that your son, Farrell Lowell, has been captured by me. He tried to assassinate me in the market, but unfortunately, the plan failed."

As soon as Dirk Carter spoke these words.

Brent Lowell tensed up.

He murmured, "That idiot!"

"He's not an idiot, he was instigated by someone, who assured him that if he managed to kill me, they would help him escape. I think you know who that person is, right? Because they also sent someone to kill you."

Dirk Carter finished speaking.

Brent Lowell let out a cold laugh.

He said, "Secretary General Carter, I'll be straightforward with you, I'm really not a good person, but I never betray others. I will only admit to matters related to me. As for the person you want, I will not tell you, even if both my son and I die, I won't tell you."

"No need to tell me, I already know who this person is."

Dirk Carter stated.

Brent Lowell was surprised.

Then he started laughing.

He said, "Secretary General Carter, it's truly a pity that you don't act in plays. If you knew who this person was, you wouldn't be here. Don't think I can't see through this, you just want to coax me into talking."

"Is that so? Extend your hand."

Dirk Carter instructed.

Brent Lowell didn't know what he was doing.

Yet he obediently extended his hand out from under the covers.

Dirk Carter traced a character onto Brent Lowell's palm with his finger.

Brent Lowell shuddered.

He blurted out, "Impossible, how could you know it was him?"

"Initially, I also thought it was impossible, completely failed to connect to this person. But as things developed step by step to this point, analyzing all factors, I slowly pieced it together. After eliminating all impossibilities, the remaining person, regardless of how implausible, was the only truth."

After saying this.

Brent Lowell's head drooped down.

Dirk Carter continued, "You say, if I leave this room and then announce this person's name to the world, who do you think he will believe told me?"

"Dirk Carter! You're despicable! You're shameless!"

Brent Lowell suddenly became agitated.

Dirk Carter sneered, "Despicable? Shameless? Compared to you, do I stand far below? I know you're guarding this secret only hoping he'll give you a final rescue. With evidence so concrete, do you think it's possible? Give up your unrealistic fantasies."

These words were earth-shattering.

And they caused Brent Lowell's psychological defenses to collapse in an instant.

Just as Dirk Carter said.

He had always had illusions about the person in the shadows.

But Dirk Carter already knew who he was.

What use was it to continue guarding the secret?

As Brent Lowell pondered whether to reveal this secret.

Suddenly.

The door to the ward creaked open.

A well-dressed middle-aged woman walked in.

Her appearance caused Brent Lowell to immediately hold his tongue.
