A Blind Swordsman's Sword Coffin
Chapter 1030 - A Bloody Battle, Daxia Sword Sect Disciples Raise Their Swords Against the Enemy
“Kill! Tear those bastards apart!”
“Kill every last one of those Abyssal Demon remnants!”
“To hell with the Heavenly Demon Pavilion! Heavenly Lightning Peak disciples, charge with me!”
Their battle cries shook the heavens. The six sects had expected their overwhelming numbers to crush the Daxia Sword Sect’s disciples, unaware of how quickly those disciples had grown stronger in recent years.
They belonged to one of the foremost sects in the Northern Territory of Daxia Territory, and they took pride in it. To uphold that reputation, they had trained desperately, afraid of disgracing the sect whenever they went out into the world.
The recent events had left the Daxia Sword Sect’s disciples seething with anger. They tightened their grips on their swords and struck harder, nearly every one of them still holding a Spirit-Boosting Pill in their mouth. Only four thousand of the ten thousand black-robed cultivators who had joined the battle remained.
Whenever a disciple’s pill began to wear off, another would immediately step in to take their place. The bloodshed only seemed to drive them to fight with even greater ferocity. The sect’s losses numbered only a few dozen.
Sujddenly, Li Guanqi frowned. Vast amounts of demonic qi surged from the dead cultivators and flowed into those still fighting. Their strength sharply increased, turning them into killing machines that seemed to feel no pain.
Li Guanqi’s brow furrowed. Turning his head, he saw Zhao Pei devouring the blood and demonic qi lingering across the battlefield. Both his injuries and his aura were recovering rapidly.
Rumble!
The fighters looked up as countless bolts of lightning fell like rain, suppressing the demonic qi rising from the corpses. Black thunderclouds churned overhead, and a storm sprang up around Li Guanqi. Lightning flowed into the Daxia Sword Sect cultivators, forming a thin layer of Lightning Armor around each of them. Arcs of lightning also wrapped around their sword blades.
Sensing Li Guanqi’s aura weaken, Zhao Pei grinned maniacally. “You’re wasting that much vital force on those useless people?”
With the Lightning Armor supporting them, the Daxia Sword Sect’s disciples charged again, their attacks deadlier than before. Xi Yunhuai, Gu Chuan, and the others showed the elders of the six allied sects no mercy.
Wu Bing fought with reckless abandon, relishing the long-lost satisfaction of settling scores with his blade. His blood-soaked robes snapped in the wind like the sect’s own banner. He raised his sword high and bellowed across the battlefield, “Elders and disciples, heed my command! Swords up! Strike them down! Show no mercy to the invaders!”
Boom! Boom! Boom!
Powerful auras surged throughout the battlefield. The Daxia Sword Sect’s disciples felt a rush of excitement, goosebumps rising all over their bodies. Even those wounded during the charge swung their swords with all their strength, aiming straight for their enemies’ heads.
Li Guanqi looked back at them and let out a long breath. Helping them had cost him nearly a fifth of his vital force, but he believed it was worth the cost. He turned to Zhao Pei in the distance. Since merging with demonic qi, the man’s aura had grown strange and difficult to contend with. A trace of his bizarre blood qi still lingered in Li Guanqi’s body, and he could not yet expel it.
Of course, Zhao Pei was in no better shape. He bore at least a dozen sword wounds, some larger than others. He was doing everything in his power to suppress the lightning-element power within his body. Otherwise, Li Guanqi could direct it through him and destroy all of his meridians in a single breath.
Knowing that Li Guanqi was far from his peak only made Zhao Pei more cautious. His eyes hardened, and he bit down on the black pill in his mouth with a sharp crunch.
Boom!
His aura surged to the half-step Mahayana Realm. Violent demonic qi swept through the void, thick as sludge. Moving as though it had a mind of its own, it rushed toward the scattered corpses below and consumed their mangled remains. Demonic qi flooded into Zhao Pei from every direction.
Li Guanqi’s heart tightened. Something was wrong.
He shot forward. If Zhao Pei continued absorbing demonic qi, the gap between them would only widen, and his power might become uncontrollable.
Li Guanqi glanced regretfully at the sword in his hand.
“I’m sorry.”
Boom!
“Heaven-Opening!”
Boom!
Sword intent swept across heaven and earth. Fine cracks spread across the spirit treasure sword in his hand, unable to withstand the power of his sword spirit void.
Li Guanqi streaked forward at tremendous speed and murmured. “Three strikes. Three will be enough.”
Boom!
At a distance of a hundred zhang, he unleashed all three abilities of his sword spirit void and delivered the first strike.
“Heaven-Opening, Thunder Wrath!”
Boom!
A hundred-zhang phantom of a Lightning God appeared amid crackling thunder. A lightning sword just as long took shape and came crashing down, tearing a fissure several hundred zhang across the sky and splitting the storm clouds overhead.
A fissure several hundred zhang long tore across the sky, while the thick storm clouds overhead were split cleanly in two.
Crack!
Zhao Pei stopped absorbing demonic qi. His body had reached its limit.
He crossed his crescent sabers before him as blood-red demonic qi spread beneath his feet and surged up like a river. A single step carried him a hundred zhang. He spun both sabers and slashed out two enormous streaks of blood-red saber light.
Boom!
The void shattered, and the ground split beneath the two streaks of light. Eyes bloodshot, Zhao Pei roared, “Blood River Frenzied Saber!”
Saber met sword. The sword light burst apart, and the Lightning God phantom was cleaved in two at the waist. But Li Guanqi’s second strike was already falling. He gripped his sword with both hands and brought it down. Lightning surged out to either side of him as a sword light extended more than a zhang beyond the blade.
“Heaven-Opening, World Annihilation!”
Boom!
Zhao Pei froze for a split second. His pupils dilated, trembling violently as the sword qi shredded his robes into tatters.
Madness filled his eyes. He brought his crescent sabers together, then sent the twin blades whirling around him and flying toward Li Guanqi.
A streak of blood-red light shot through the night toward Li Guanqi’s head. His World Annihilation sword light came crashing down, though his sword was now covered in a dense web of cracks.
Li Guanqi closed his eyes and slid his blade back into a sheath of condensed lightning. He ducked as a crescent saber swept over his scalp, shearing off a few strands of hair. Then he pushed off with both feet. The void beneath him caved in as he shot forward, a streak of purple sword light resonating with the countless bolts of lightning falling around him.
“Sword-Unsheathing Technique, Dark Moon,” he murmured.
Whoosh!
Rumble!
Crack!
A flash of sword light swept upward from below, impossibly fast. The purple arc split a mountain several hundred zhang high and the earth beneath it in two. A vast crack opened in the void, stretching between heaven and earth.
Thud!
Li Guanqi stood motionless. Blood ran down his arm and dripped from the empty sword hilt. Three chi behind him, Zhao Pei’s body had been split in two, his remains kneeling on the ground.
Breathing hard, Li Guanqi raised what was left of his sword and roared, “Listen well, all of you! Even without the Red Lotus Sword, I, Li Guanqi, won’t let you worthless fools throw your weight around in front of me!”
