Chapter 397: Day 1.3 – Alexa is cuter than a pebble!

“And what’s that?” Alexa asked as she pointed at one of the big poles near the street.

“That’s a traffic light, we have of those too in Ohio you know.” [Fan Girl] said sighing.

They may have them, but how was Alexa supposed to know if they were called the same?!?!? [Humans] were weird in the weirdest places after all, Alexa needed to be sure!

“And that?” Alexa pointed to the next thing that she wanted to know.

“That’s… actually the heck is that?” [Fan Girl] said confused pulling out her cellphone and pointing at the thing.

“That’s one of the fancy Cardinal Cameras.” A man in the side of the street manning a food cart answered for them, “Want an ice cream?”

“Yes!” Alexa quickly said raising her open hand towards the old man.

“The what now?” [Fan Girl] said glaring at the thing. “Cardinal has cameras? Like that? In the open?”

“Cardinal Cameras, no one knows why they are called that. Since they aren’t set in cardinal spots, but that’s what they are called.” The man said lifting a small lid and turning to Alexa, “What flavor?”

“Mango!” Alexa quickly said opening and closing her hands, she wanted her ice cream.

“Do the mom and father want one?” The man then turned to [Fan Girl] and [Meat Shield] as he asked that.

“…Excuse me?” [Fan Girl] said arching an eyebrow, then turning to Alexa, then to [Meat Shield] and finally to the man who asked, “Don’t you know who she is?”

“A talented young girl going to classes on the first day?” The man asked lowering the lid back, “Everyone knows it, she is a prodigy, a once in a generation talent.”

Alexa nodded as she received her mango ice cream and started licking it, that [Human] knew his stuff, Alexa was all of those after all.

“And her name is…” [Fan Girl] said making the motion for him to continue.

“… Look, I am only working here during the opening day. I wasn’t even supposed to man the food cart.” The man said sighing, “Just… I am just doing my job, I am sorry. Really, but I didn’t have enough time to memorize all the names okay.”

“… You really don’t know who she is?” [Meat Shield] said with surprise on his face, the thingie that Ale did was doing wonders, “For real?”

“I get it, trust me.” The man said nodding, “You all are big shots and will have your daughter living in the city, all the people that will actually work here will know them, my friend has been complaining for months about all he has to memorize. But me? I am just for the weekend and then back to London.”

“Alexa is called Alexa!” Alexa helpfully helped the man, “And they are [Fan Girl] and [Meat Shield]!”

“We are students here, not parents.” [Fan Girl] said turning to the food cart person, “And sorry, we were just surprised, Alexa is a family friend and everyone seemed to know her from where we are.”

“Well, if you are students here you are probably in the top .1% of humanity.” The food cart man said shrugging, “Everyone probably knew you there because of that, but here… even a Saintsworths is as common as a pebble, no offense.”

“Alexa is cuter than a pebble!” Alexa complained, she was the cutestest of them all, that’s the setting!

“So… ice cream?” The food cart man said turning to [Fan Girl] and [Meat Shield].

“I’ll take vanilla.” [Fan Girl] finally said, “How much do we owe you anyway?”

“Oh that, don’t mind it. Big brother deals with that.” The food cart person said with a dismissive gesture, “That’s why I parked here. My friend said that it didn’t matter where you set up shop, but I still didn’t want to risk it.”

“Big brother?” [Fan Girl] arched an eye brow while taking her ice cream.

“What about you big guy?” The food cart person asked [Meat Shield] next, “You look like a vanilla guy.”

“I’m fine.” [Meat Shield] raised a hand and refused, “I assume you mean the Saintsworth’s system will deduce the expenses from our accounts?”

“Yup.” The food cart man nodded, “Either way, not my money or goods.”

“That will take time to get used to.” [Fan Girl] sighed as she took her ice cream.

“Tell me about it, I haven’t been able to shower in peace since they explained it to me.” The food cart man shuddered, “Good luck living here tho.”

“…Thanks.” [Fan Girl] then took a lick of the ice cream she got, “Let’s go then, Alexa’s school is around the corner.”

They had been traveling for some time already after all. And all this time Alexa had been checking and asking all about her surroundings, she had to make sure everything was working as intended.

“Well that was weird.” [Fan Girl] said as they continued walking down, the food cart person long gone.

“Was it?” [Meat Shield] asked confused, “He felt normal to me.”

“Yeah.” Alexa nodded, “He also had mango ice cream, so he was a good person.”

“But he didn’t know you.” [Fan Girl] pointed out, “Was I the only one that thought that was weird?”

“I mean…” [Meat Shield] said pointing around them, there were other people walking down around, mostly adults with kids on their side, they were complaining and looking curiously around whenever they weren’t complaining, “Probably in other settings, but as that man said. If even a Saintsworths is common here, maybe that’s why they didn’t know Alexa?”

“But that’s not how that works!” [Fan Girl] groaned, “Everyone and their grandma knew her, whenever she was not wearing a mask they knew who Alexa was.”

“They did?” [Meat Shield] said confused, “That’s worrying, did we have a leak? Did it happen often when you went to drink with Alexandra then?”

“No, it only happened with Alexa. That’s the thing!” [Fan Girl] pointed at Alexa… Did she want her finger to get nomed? Because that’s how you end up with fingers nomed.

“But that’s obvious.” Alexa said confused, “Alexa is this cute, how could they not recognize her?”

“But he didn’t.” [Fan Girl] said exasperated, pointing behind them, “That’s the thing. Everyone knew you, but he didn’t.”

“But [Eleanore], [Elder], [Vulcanus], [Teach Baking]…” Alexa started naming the people that didn’t knew her, “They didn’t knew Alexa.”

“That’s what annoys me the most.” [Fan Girl] said facepalming, “People we know don’t know you at the first instance, but random people on the street do? What the hell is with that?”

That sounded annoying yes, more so if you lived it, but since Alexa didn’t live it, it was not an issue for Alexa, after all, if they needed to know her, they would know her. That’s how [The World] worked after all.

“Maybe its one of those things that only affect people outside of here?” [Meat Shield] pointed out, “As we discussed before, many of those effects seemed to be centered around Alexa and Alexanders.”

“Right…” [Fan Girl] said nodding as she groaned, “I am opening a stupid portal in this stupid city and saving some of the atmosphere, with some luck I can shove it into someone when they start acting weird.”

Why was [Fan Girl] looking at Alexa like that? Was she hungry? Alexa already finished her ice cream though! She had nothing to give!

“We also need to do the thing Ale asked.” [Meat Shield] pointed out, “And we are running out of street.”

“Ah right.” [Fan Girl] looked around, Alexa felt the wave of space mana fanning out of [Fan Girl], “Well, no better time than now I guess.”

“Ale asked for something? Can Alexa help?” Alexa wanted to help Ale!

“In that case, we have a mission for you.” [Meat Shield] said all serious, his face morphing into a serious face too, all filled with gravitas, gravity, gravel and even granite!

Alexa nodded, saluted and prepared herself for the reveal, this was a dangerous mission no doubt, Alexa needed to steel herself, so she steeled her face and prepared herself.

“Give it to Alexa straight!” Alexa prepared herself even twice as before, just in case.

“Have fun.” [Meat Shield] said with his stone cold tone.

“Make some new friends.” [Fan Girl] added afterwards, “Ale mentioned something about eating a couple kids called Alan and Glory or something, but that was probably a joke.”

“Aye sir!” Alexa answered as one should when they are given a sacred mission such as these, “Alexa will do her best to have fun!”

“Listen to your teacher… Unless they are secretly a hidden villain that is out to destroy our way of life.” [Fan Girl] added with a smirk, “If they turn out to be a menace you can dispose them.”

“Humu.” Alexa nodded sagely, would that mean that she needed to dispose of the [Theater Master]? He was kinda like a hidden villain or something right? But he was also one of their clients since he gave them jobs.

She would postpone that one and ask Ale about it when Alexa sees her next.

“Anything else Alexa needs to check?” Alexa asked, she was getting her first mission right now, it was important to ask the questions! She was a grown up girl, she knew that she needed to make sure everything was okay.

“If you can try to not eat your classmates.” [Fan Girl] added as an afterthought.

“Even if they are meanies?” Alexa needed that as confirmation.

“Let me clarify the rules for engagement.” [Meat Shield] jumped into the conversation again, “You are only allowed to attack with the same degree of strength they use against you. You are not to dispose or cripple anyone unless they endanger you or someone close to you.”

“Dang it.” Alexa cursed, she had wanted to try and take a sample from one of her classmates, she hadn’t taken many of those, she had a couple of defective ones (Alan and Glory), and some incomplete ones (Beatrice).

“No dang it, they are your classmates.” [Meat Shield] said sighing, “You can mess around with them, and if they are stuck ups you can show them how they fare against someone better than them, but you can’t kill or cripple.”

“Fineeeee…” Alexa groaned again, just in case her opinion wasn’t clear. “Alexa is ready for deployment!”

“Prepare for deployment.” [Meat Shield] said in his serious gravely voice.

So Alexa knew he meant business, with that said, Alexa turned 1,8234561° to the right and set herself into position for her running start. She set her right feet forward and made sure she could put as much strength as possible into her first step, her left feet was behind her, ready to launch her forward.

Alexa had set up both her hands parallel to the ground and behind her, ready to work as wings and set up for her greatest speed possible.

Her backpack was already on her back, her lunch was already contained within the backpack, and her hair was already set up in a cute set of twin tails. Alexa couldn’t be more ready even if she took a thousand more years!

“Set.” [Meat shield]’s voice signaled her to start plotting her route.

In Alexa’s eyes several possible routes were highlighted in her field of vision, one by one very complex mathematical operations flashed as they slowly refined her path. All the math would make Alexa’s head hurt, that’s why [Main Core] was the one doing the math.

[2+2=4]

[1+3=4]

[5-1=4]

[6-2=4]

[7-3=4]

And the likes, they continued flashing on Alexa’s eyes, but she ignored them! That’s what [Main Core] was here to deal with!

“Launch.” [Meat Shield] finally said the order, the world around Alexa seemed to slow into a crawl (It did not, in fact, slow down). Alexa could see infinity!(She could not see such a thing).

“Alexa Saintsworths. Launching!” And with that said, Alexa kicked the ground as strongly as it was Alexakin possible, launching herself forward, she could hear the sound of the dramatic music behind her already!

Alexa could see the universe! (She could not, in fact, see the universe)

“Nyooooom~ “ So Alexa declared as she rushed past the people around, she quickly deployed her flaps to better maneuver (She extended her arms to the sides).

First she dodged the oncoming traffic of very irresponsible people walking around the street, know some shame! How dare they get into the way of the deployment of Alexa! Rude!

But even with all the interference they were setting up, Alexa still made it though!

“Hey! Watch it!” Even if some of the rude people around still screamed and raised their fist against Alexa, or well, against the heavens, what did the heavens have to do with Alexa?

Silly people.

Even so, Alexa ran! And with great success she managed to deploy the braking protocol and stop and land at the spot she had wanted to arrive (She had been running for a whole street.)

[Fan Girl] and [Meat Shield] waved at Alexa from the distance and both turned to leave. Hadn’t they come with Alexa because they wanted to speak with some important people on the school?

Or where they going to do what Ale asked them first? Alexa could understand that, if Ale asked for something then it was probably important after all. So for now Alexa would be the big girl and be understanding of what they wanted to do with their free time.

Instead she took a step forward into the school grounds, and with that single step, it was almost as if Alexa had walked into a different world! Alexa could feel the atmospheric change, how the Mana started to behave in a more schooly way, she could see the laws of nature twisting to accommodate a better school system! (There was no tampering with reality here)

“Alexaaaaaaa!!!!” And with all good school arc, Alexa was soon tackled by a torpedo! She was attacked! She was ambushed! She was! “ I missed yoooouuuuuuuu!!!!!”

“Glory!!!” She was welcomed by her bestestto frend of all times!

“Glory, stop *gasp* running *gasp* all *gasp* over *gasp* the *gasp* place!” And behind Glory came Alan too!

“Alan!” Alexa greeted the boy whose hair should have been blue but turned black at some point! “You made it!”

“Alexa! They are bullies! Bullies I declare!” Glory quickly snitched! “They want me to use these uncomfy clothes! And they wanted me to speak all weird!”

“Le gasp!” Alexa le gasped! “Uncomfy! How dare they!”

“I know!” Glory nodded sagely with Alexa, uncomfy clothes were evil, everyone knew that! “And they don’t let me go out to play with Alan either! Tell Alexa what they said Alan! They don’t let us go out and mess around!”

“Play around.” Alan said facepalming, “They don’t let us go out and play around.”

“That’s what I said!” Glory said puffing her cheeks.

“Yeah! That’s what she said!” Alexa backed up Glory.

“God in heaven…” Alan groaned, “They multiply.”

“There is no god in heaven tho.” Alexa pointed out helpfully, “There may be goddess and other things, but Alexa knows for a fact that there are no god in the heavens!”

Alexa was not sure how she knew that, but she knew that! Oh right. “[Main Core] don’t forget to ask Ale about that.” That was important, or felt important.
