Chapter 254: Chapter 254: Wu Yingying’s Trust
Fu Xiaoxiao didn’t know how long she had slept. When she woke up, there was a boxed meal at the bedside. Lu Feng had come back, but seeing her in a deep sleep, he didn’t wake her. He left a note reminding her to heat the meal before eating.
Fu Xiaoxiao touched the lunch box; it was already cold.
She checked the time; it was already three in the afternoon.
She lazily stretched and felt quite a bit of relief from the soreness.
Feeling hunger from her stomach, Fu Xiaoxiao got up and washed, meanwhile soaking the lunch box in hot water. By the time she finished washing her face, the meal was heated up.
After eating, Fu Xiaoxiao, having some time before picking up the kids, planned to use this time to finish Lu Feng’s new clothes.
The sound of the sewing machine prevented Fu Xiaoxiao from hearing the knocking at the door.
Wu Yingying stood at the door with a trace of loss in her eyes, thinking that Fu Xiaoxiao was only comforting her yesterday.
However, after meeting with the family today, and everyone calmly sitting down for a chat, Wu Yingying found that Fu Xiaoxiao was right. Her parents never blamed her. Instead, they moved out to live with her brother because they didn’t want to harm her, giving her plenty of private space.
And she was being stubborn, thought the whole family was blaming her, and only after the four-year separation was she able to finally sit together again.
She felt that Fu Xiaoxiao was different from others. Wu Yingying mustered up the courage to knock on the Lu Family’s door again.
Fu Xiaoxiao finally heard the noise outside the door and quickly stopped the sewing machine to go open the door.
"Sorry, I was just making clothes and didn’t hear someone knock at the door." Seeing Wu Yingying, Fu Xiaoxiao smiled and invited her in.
"It’s my fault for not notifying you before coming over!" Wu Yingying walked into the room, and upon seeing Fu Xiaoxiao’s half-made clothes, her smile deepened.
"I invited you over to spend time, next time I’ll leave the door open, so you can just come in." Fu Xiaoxiao made Wu Yingying a cup of tea and laughed.
"Are those clothes for your partner?" Wu Yingying looked at the large-sized pattern, obviously a man’s clothing.
"Yes! Yesterday I made new bags for the two kids and forgot about him, so he’s sulking!" Fu Xiaoxiao couldn’t help but laugh thinking of Lu Feng’s behavior yesterday.
"Really? I always thought soldiers were the type who never smiled! How interesting, he gets jealous?" Wu Yingying looked at Fu Xiaoxiao, seeing another side of a soldier through her words, she found it interesting.
"Doesn’t your family have two as well?" Fu Xiaoxiao asked curiously.
"Indeed, my dad and brother are soldiers, but I’ve never found them amusing! Dad always has a stern face in front of me, and my brother perfectly inherited Dad’s same expression." Wu Yingying thought of her father and brother’s expressionless faces and could only shake her head helplessly.
She didn’t feel any amusement at all.
"The more expressionless their faces are, the more activities are happening inside." Fu Xiaoxiao smiled at Wu Yingying. "Don’t be fooled by their serious look, they’re just pretending."
"Huh?" Wu Yingying was hearing such a statement for the first time.
"Are your parents affectionate towards each other?" Fu Xiaoxiao asked, smiling.
"They seem pretty good." Wu Yingying thought about how her parents’ relationship had always been like that since she was young, so it should be good, right? "Anyway, I have never seen them argue."
"That proves that your father is definitely different in front of your mother!" Fu Xiaoxiao exemplified. "You see, because of their soldier roles, they can’t show much emotion, it’s part of their training."
"But people can’t wear masks all the time, so there must be someone who makes him relax and be himself, without needing to wear a mask." Fu Xiaoxiao softly laughed, Lu Feng is exactly like that, calm and composed in front of outsiders, speaks concisely, and never utters useless words.
But in Fu Xiaoxiao’s eyes, he’s also a high-demand person, very sensitive, and he cares deeply about his family’s thoughts. Previously, he would swallow everything himself, appearing cold.
Ever since he became more relaxed in her presence, Fu Xiaoxiao noticed that Lu Feng was actually very vulnerable, so much that if she said she was leaving, he would be tangled up for a long time, ultimately making a painful decision.
Fu Xiaoxiao knew of Lu Feng’s childhood experiences. He habitually wore a mask in front of others because he didn’t want to worry Liu Hongjun.
He wasn’t unchanging, but rather constantly evolving, and Fu Xiaoxiao was grateful that she could enter his heart and feel his changes.
Even though he remains a cool Mr. Lu in front of kids, they now know that Lu Feng isn’t as icy as he seems, and they are gradually accepting this side of Lu Feng.
"Your husband must love you very much." Wu Yingying looked at Fu Xiaoxiao, sensing she was thinking of her husband when she spoke.
"It’s mutual, I treat him as he treats me." Fu Xiaoxiao never thought love is one-sided.
Love must be between two people.
"I can probably understand. I also know my dad and brother are for my own good, but I don’t know how to face them, you know, their stern looks are really intimidating." Wu Yingying was helpless, living beside two soldiers for over twenty years, she hadn’t been able to see through them.
"It’s actually very simple, I’ll teach you." Fu Xiaoxiao gestured for Wu Yingying to come closer, and she leaned in curiously.
Fu Xiaoxiao whispered the secret of interacting with them into Wu Yingying’s ear, making her blink.
"I’ll try it when I get back." Wu Yingying absorbed the new knowledge and felt eager to try.
"No rush, you’ll surely get the chance." Fu Xiaoxiao nodded with a smile and spoke of serious matters. "Did you come over today for any particular reason?"
"There’s something I don’t dare tell them, didn’t know who to talk to. When I realized, I was already at your door." Wu Yingying, after meeting with family today, wanted to tell her brother that the future sister-in-law’s appearance wasn’t what it seemed...
But hearing her brother’s eagerness about the wedding, constantly inviting her to attend, Wu Yingying didn’t want to disappoint him and swallowed her words.
Fu Xiaoxiao was a little surprised, not expecting that after merely one meeting with Wu Yingying, she trusted her so much.
"If you’re willing, you can tell me, I’ll listen." Fu Xiaoxiao smiled.
"Here’s the thing! After you guys left yesterday, Little Linlin said some things that made me overthink." Wu Yingying looked at Fu Xiaoxiao, unable to resist telling her what Little Linlin said yesterday, she truly didn’t know who to ask.
She was afraid she was being paranoid, and if she told her family, it might harm her brother’s relationship with his future bride.
But she believed that someone two-faced towards children couldn’t be a match for her brother.
She was conflicted, not knowing if she should speak or stay silent.
So she wanted to hear Fu Xiaoxiao’s opinion and thoughts.
