Ragnar let out a long breath and leaned back in his chair, his eyes remaining fixed on the two severed vampire heads lying on the table.

For several seconds, he said nothing.

He then muttered quietly, almost as if he had forgotten Amon was sitting there.

"I thought we had the upper hand in this fight."

Amon listened to him quietly.

There was no confidence in Ragnar’s voice anymore.

The Duke who had laughed only moments ago now looked considerably older.

His expression carrying the weight of someone who had just realized that the situation was much worse than he had expected.

Ragnar finally looked at Amon. "What else do you know?"

Amon shrugged. "Not much."

He leaned back in his chair and thought about everything he had seen beneath the city.

"I know there are many elven bases hidden throughout the capital, although I don’t know exactly where most of them are."

"The vampires are also using the underground sewage system to move around without being noticed."

Ragnar’s expression became thoughtful. "Do you have any information about the vampires themselves?"

Amon remained silent for a moment.

There was one particular name he hadn’t mentioned yet. "Cordo family."

Ragnar’s eyebrows rose slightly.

"One of their members is involved with the vampires," Amon continued. "Victor Cordo. He’s a vampire."

Ragnar stared at him for a moment before slowly nodding. "That’s good to hear."

Amon blinked. "Why?"

A faint smile appeared on Ragnar’s face. "Because now it will be much easier for us to deal with those pests."

There was a noticeable edge to his voice when he said it.

Amon could practically feel the contempt behind those words, and strangely enough, he found himself enjoying it.

’An enemy of my enemy is my friend.’

Ragnar’s expression soon became serious again.

He leaned forward, resting his elbows against his knees as he looked directly at Amon. "What you’ve done so far was good, but from this point onward, stay out of it."

Amon raised an eyebrow.

Ragnar continued before he could say anything. "You’re young, Amon. You don’t need to throw your life away because some kingdom has problems."

"No matter how bad things become, your own life matters the most."

Amon remained quiet for a moment before nodding. "I’ll be careful."

Ragnar studied his expression as though trying to determine whether he actually meant it.

Eventually, he sighed.

"Good." His eyes moved toward the bottle of Moonwell Liquid. "Do you have more?"

Amon shook his head. "No. That’s the only one I found."

Ragnar’s expression immediately became serious. "Can you sell it to me?"

Amon looked at him. "I’ll pay whatever you want."

Amon frowned slightly. "Why do you need it?"

Ragnar glanced toward the bottle before answering. "It might help Nadya."

Amon immediately reached for the bottle and picked it up. "Then I’ll just give it to her."

Annette blinked. "Why would you do that?"

Amon looked at her as though the answer was obvious. "Because she’s my wife."

Ragnar slowly stood from his chair and his face was beginning to turn red.

"Absolutely not."

Amon glanced at him.

Ragnar pointed at him with an angry expression. "I will never allow that!"

Amon said nothing. He simply stood up and started walking toward the palace.

Behind him, Ragnar’s voice became louder. "I will never give you my blessing! Not today, not tomorrow, and not until the day I die!"

Amon continued walking without turning around.

Annette sighed. "Ragnar, calm down."

"I am calm!"

"You don’t look calm."

"I’m perfectly calm!"

Amon couldn’t help smiling as he continued toward the palace.

After a few steps, Annette called out. "What about the two heads?"

Amon immediately increased his pace.

"Right." He heard Ragnar shout behind him. "YOU CAN’T JUST LEAVE THOSE HERE!"

Amon kept walking. "I thought you wanted them!"

"I DON’T WANT THEM ON MY TABLE!"

Amon pretended not to hear him.

---

Amon eventually found Nadya’s room after asking one of the palace maids for directions.

He stopped in front of the door and knocked but there was no answer.

Amon knocked again and still he only got silence.

He waited for a few seconds before speaking. "Nadya, I’m coming inside."

He opened the door.

The room was quiet and dimly lit, with the curtains partially closed to keep the evening sunlight from entering too strongly.

Nadya was lying peacefully on the bed.

Her breathing was slow and steady, and her long hair was spread loosely across the pillow.

Amon quietly closed the door behind him. He walked toward the bed and looked down at her.

For a moment, he simply watched her sleep. ’If she had more muscles, she could probably rival the top-tier beauties.’

As though she had heard his thoughts, Nadya spoke without opening her eyes. "Are you planning to wake the sleeping beauty with a kiss?"

Amon immediately stepped back. "No. That would be sexual assault."

One of Nadya’s eyes opened slightly. "You really know how to ruin a romantic moment."

Amon ignored her and reached into his spatial bracelet.

He pulled out two bottles of Moonwell Liquid and held them toward her.

Nadya’s sleepy expression disappeared immediately.

She sat up and leaned against the bed frame before carefully taking the bottles from his hands.

Her eyes remained fixed on the white liquid inside. "I haven’t seen this in a very long time."

Amon noticed the change in her expression. "You recognize it?"

Nadya nodded slowly. "This is Moonwell Liquid."

Amon smiled faintly. "I figured you’d know."

A system notification appeared in front of Amon.

[20x Return System]

[An investment toward a registered wife has been detected.]

[Investment Grade: Mythical.]

[Return calculation initiated.]

Amon glanced at the notification but he didn’t bother opening it.

He would deal with it later.

Nadya looked at him. "Did you kill any elves?"

Amon shook his head. "No."

He pulled a chair toward the bed and sat down.

He briefly explained everything that had happened.

He told her about following Victor, discovering the vampires beneath the city, witnessing the exchange between the elves and vampires, and eventually finding the Moonwell Liquid.

Nadya remained silent throughout the entire explanation.

She didn’t interrupt him even once.

When Amon finished, she lowered her gaze toward the bottles in her hands.

"So you’re trying your best to stop the war before it begins."

Amon chuckled. "Don’t make me sound more impressive than I am. I’m not strong enough to stop something like that."

Nadya looked at him. "You’re really weak."

Amon stared at her before he smiled. "Thanks for the encouragement."

Nadya didn’t respond.

Amon stood up. "I’ll find something else useful for you later."

Nadya watched him walk toward the door.

She didn’t say anything until his hand touched the handle.

"Be careful of the Queen and the Crown Prince."

Amon stopped and he slowly turned his head.

Nadya’s expression had become unusually serious. "They’ll come for you now that you’re involved with them."

Amon stared at her for several seconds before slowly nodding. "I’ll keep that in mind."

He opened the door and left.

---

It was already evening when Amon arrived at the Vale family mansion.

The sky had darkened considerably, and the lights surrounding the estate had already been turned on.

Amon walked through the entrance and immediately noticed Marielle sitting alone on the sofa.

She was wearing a fitted black evening dress with a modest neckline and a long skirt that followed her figure naturally.

The dark fabric contrasted with her purple hair, while a thin silver necklace rested around her neck.

She looked more like someone attending an expensive formal gathering than someone waiting at home.

The moment Marielle noticed Amon, she stood up. "Let’s get this over with."

Amon blinked.

He looked at her for a moment. ’Was she actually waiting for this?’

Marielle crossed her arms unconsciously bringing her boobs out even further.

Amon smiled and walked towards her until he was just inches away.

Marielle blushed at such closeness between them, looking away from him.

Amon thought before an idea formed in his mind.
