Chapter 129: Finding Another Mana Land

  • Next Chapter

Amon finally arrived at the new location.

The place was farther away from the village than he had expected, sitting in an old farmland and a small forest that had been left mostly untouched.

Several tall trees surrounded the area, and a narrow stream passed through one side of the land.

There were no houses nearby, and the ground looked mostly abandoned, with patches of wild grass growing over what appeared to have once been farmland.

Amon slowed down his bike before eventually stopping near the edge of the field.

He turned off the engine and stepped off. "Alright, let’s see if this place is actually worth anything."

Amon activated his Merchant’s Divine Insight and slowly looked around.

The ability spread across his vision, allowing him to inspect the land beneath his feet.

For several seconds, nothing happened before a new set of information appeared.

---

[Mana-Rich Land: Hollow Forest]

[Actual Value: 420,000,000 Gold Coins]

[Description: A naturally mana-enriched region formed around an ancient underground mana current.]

[Special Property: Mana density increases during nighttime.]

---

Amon’s eyes widened as he raised both of his hands into the air.

"YES!" His voice echoed across the empty field. "I FUCKING FOUND IT!"

Amon laughed loudly.

After spending so much time checking locations that turned out to be completely worthless, finding a genuine mana-rich land felt like winning the lottery.

He walked around in excitement before raising both hands again. "Finally!"

His laughter continued for several seconds before it suddenly stopped.

Amon’s expression turned grim as his eyes noticed something beneath the surface.

"...Wait."

He slowly looked around.

The land was mana-rich for certain, but his Divine Insight had also revealed something else.

There were countless objects buried beneath the soil.

Amon crouched down and placed his palm against the ground.

His expression became slightly strange. "How many people are buried here?"

The answer became obvious after he activated his ability again.

The area wasn’t simply old farmland.

....It was a mass grave.

There were bodies buried throughout the land, some deeper than others, along with weapons, pieces of armour, broken tools, and several other objects that had been buried alongside the dead.

Amon’s excitement immediately became complicated.

He looked around the field. "Fuck my life."

Most of the buried items weren’t particularly valuable.

Some rusty weapons weren’t even worth picking up, while several pieces of old equipment had deteriorated.

There were also several objects that had some value, but not enough for Amon to bother digging through an entire mass grave.

Amon stood up and took a few steps backward. "Yeah, I’m not digging all of that."

He moved toward his bike and leaned against it, crossing his arms as he stared at the field.

The mass grave clearly wasn’t recent.

Whatever had happened here had probably occurred many years ago.

There was no obvious sign that anyone would suddenly come looking for the buried bodies.

Still, knowing that he had just discovered a huge amount of valuable land sitting on top of countless corpses felt rather strange.

Amon rubbed his chin. "What am I supposed to do about this?"

He already knew the answer as Amon pulled out his phone and called Felicia.

It took several seconds before she answered. "What did you find?"

"I found it."

There was a brief silence on the other side.

"The mana-rich land?"

"Yeah." Amon looked around before continuing. "It’s in Hollow Forest, only about five kilometres from the city."

Felicia’s tone immediately became more serious. "Are you certain?"

"One hundred percent."

"Good. I’ll arrange for my lawyers to handle the purchase."

Amon nodded even though she couldn’t see him. "There’s another thing."

"What?"

Amon glanced toward the field. "There are multiple graves here."

Felicia remained silent for a moment.

Then she casually replied, "That’s not uncommon."

Amon raised an eyebrow. "Really?"

"Old mass graves can sometimes become highly mana-enriched areas over time."

"The decomposition of the bodies effectively acts as fertiliser when combined with naturally occurring mana."

Amon looked at the ground. "So dead bodies are basically fertiliser?"

"In a very crude sense, yes."

Amon grimaced. "That’s one way to look at it."

Felicia chuckled quietly. "Don’t worry about the graves. If they’re old, the authorities can handle them when the land is developed."

Amon nodded. "I’ll look around first anyway. If there’s something strange here, I’ll let you know."

"Be careful."

"I will." Amon ended the call and put his phone away.

He stood beside his bike for a moment before looking toward the field again. "Alright, let’s see what this place is hiding."

Amon activated his Truthseeker’s Eye.

The world immediately changed, and most of the area appeared green.

However, small patches of red occasionally appeared across the field, standing out sharply against the surrounding landscape.

Amon slowly walked forward.

He alternated between his Truthseeker’s Eye and Merchant’s Divine Insight, checking the ground for buried objects one after another.

Most of the red areas turned out to be old objects with minor value or things that simply looked suspicious because of how they had been buried.

Amon continued searching.

After nearly twenty minutes, he finally stopped.

His eyes landed on a small patch of ground beneath an old tree. "...Huh?"

He activated Merchant’s Divine Insight.

---

[Item Identified: Frostheart Pendant]

[Grade: Diamond]

[Actual Value: 180,000 Gold Coins]

[Description: An ancient pendant carved from a naturally formed Frostheart Crystal.]

[Effect: Greatly improves the efficiency of ice-based mana circulation and increases resistance to extreme cold.]

[Additional Effect: Slightly increases the purity of ice-elemental mana.]

---

Amon’s eyes immediately lit up. "Now we’re talking."

He looked at the ground beneath the tree as the pendant was buried fairly deep.

Amon sighed before taking out his shovel.

"Of course."

He began digging. After several minutes, his shovel finally struck something hard.

Clink!

Amon carefully removed the surrounding soil and pulled out a small silver pendant covered in dirt.

He wiped it clean with his sleeve. The crystal embedded inside the pendant gave off a faint blue glow even under the afternoon sunlight.

Amon stared at it before he looked around at the graves.

"...I’m officially a grave robber." He felt a little guilty but only a little. "I’ll make sure it goes to someone who deserves it."

He placed the Frostheart Pendant inside his spatial bracelet. There was no point pretending he hadn’t just stolen something from a grave.

Amon turned toward his bike. Before he could reach it, his phone began ringing.

He pulled it out, and it was a call from Richard.

Amon answered. "What’s up?"

"Come to the Adventurer Bureau."

Amon frowned. "Why?"

"Just come quickly." Richard’s voice sounded unusually serious.

Amon looked toward the empty road. "...Did something happen?"

"Come here first."

The call ended as Amon stared at his phone for a second. ’The fuck happened?’

He shrugged and put the phone away.

Amon climbed onto his bike, started the engine, and left Verdant Hollow behind.

---

[Adventurer Bureau.]

Amon walked through the familiar hallway of the Adventurer Bureau.

The building was busier than usual, with adventurers moving between offices while employees carried documents from one room to another.

Amon ignored the commotion around him as he walked toward Richard’s office.

He had actually been meaning to ask Richard for another dungeon.

After spending so much time thinking about his Spirit abilities, he wanted to find another dungeon where he could properly test them.

This time, he also wanted to take Seraphina with him. ’It would be nice to go on another dungeon trip together.’

Amon eventually reached Richard’s office.

He raised his hand and knocked.

"Come in."

Amon opened the door, and the first thing he noticed was Richard sitting on his chair.

The second thing he noticed was the old man sitting in the chair opposite him.

Amon’s steps immediately slowed as the old man slowly turned his head toward him.

His hair was completely white, and deep wrinkles covered his face, but his eyes were surprisingly sharp.

There was an unusual calmness in his expression that made the room feel heavier than it should have.

Richard stood up. "Amon, you’re here."

Amon looked between the two men.

Richard gestured toward the old man.

"Let me introduce you to him." His voice became slightly more serious. "This is the head of the Cordo family, Edmund Cordo."
