167 Was His Decision Selfish?
Day Eighteen…
~~*****~~
‘Ethan?’
Abigail was surprised to see the little charming boy surrounded by several bodyguards. He stood there in the middle of them, facing the gate. He was holding a cute teddy bear and a bouquet of roses.
‘What is he doing here?’ Her eyes scanned them, looking for Nathan but she didn’t see him.
Meanwhile, Richard, Ana, and Santra were looking at the gate, puzzled about the kid who was standing before their eyes. He was very charming.
“Who is this cute young kiddo?” Richard mumbled with amusement.
Ana and Santra turned to look at Abigail, waiting for her response. Abigail subconsciously smiled and waved at Ethan who had a serious look on his face.
“He is going to be my future son…” Abigail blurted out of the blue making the three people speechless.
Richard: “…”
Ana: “…”
Santra: “…”
“I have to go now. I will just come back before the night of the Star Gala. I have to pacify someone. This little prince looks upset.” Abigail mumbled, saying goodbye to her CEO, manager, and assistant.
“Hey, do you think… the kid was the avid fan she was referring to a while ago?” Ana mumbled.
Santra and Richard shrugged their shoulders as a response. The three could only watch her back as she excitedly walked towards the entrance gate where the charming boy was waiting for her.
The boy was already pouting his lips as he put on a pitiful face. But when Abigail started walking in his direction, Little Ethan immediately raised both his hands despite the fact he was holding two different objects from his left and right hand. He was asking for her hug!
Abigail just let out a soft giggle before she increased the pace of her steps. In no time, she finally reached Ethan’s spot and lowered her body to hug the boy.
“Ethan…” she softly called his name as she stroked his hair and rubbed his back.
“Miss Abi! I missed you. I thought you didn’t want to see me again. Why did you leave without saying a word? You made us worried, don’t you know that?” Ethan lamented to her.
“I’m sorry, Ethan. I didn’t mean to make you feel like that. I just met my friends and my Boss. But I am going to return to the mansion after talking to them,” Abigail said, consoling Little Ethan.
“Hmmph. You chose to see them first, instead of me. Don’t you like me anymore?” Little Ethan continued to look pitiful in front of Abigail.
Abigail could only smile and glanced at him helplessly. “Of course not! You are still my favorite person right now.” Abigail gave him a peck on his fluffy cheek.
Nathan, who was inside the car, saw the sweet interaction between Abigail and Ethan. His expression softened at this heartwarming scene. Abigail was acting like Ethan’s mother. That was something he couldn’t provide his son– a motherly love.
Nathan had always thought that he would never love another woman after Monica. But now, he wondered if his decision was too selfish for his son, Ethan.
Unlike him, Ethan was still a young boy. He was somehow vulnerable and he longed for someone who would care for him… someone who would serve as his mother.
‘Is it really okay to let a woman into our lives… for Ethan’s sake?’ Nathan wondered to himself as his gaze was fixed on Abigail and Ethan.
After a while, Nathan shook his head, pushing the thoughts to the back of his mind. He was not supposed to think this way while looking at Abigail. It’s not that she was the woman he was planning to be with if he wanted to find a mother for Ethan.
Meanwhile, Ethan already gave the teddy bear and the bouquet of roses to Abigail. “I bought this yesterday because I knew that you would be returning today.”
“Oh, Little Ethan, you are so sweet! I like them.” Abigail gladly accepted the stuffed toy and the flowers.
“Let’s go. Dad is waiting for us,” Ethan pulled Abigail’s hand while going to the car.
Abigail just nodded her head and followed Ethan. When the car door was opened, Abigail halted on her steps as she saw the devil sitting inside the car. She thought Nathan was waiting for them in the house, not in the car.
‘Damn! What is he doing here? I thought only Ethan came to pick me up!’ Abigail glanced anxiously at Nathan. She held her breath when she met his sharp gaze. The devil looked mad.
‘Shit! I’m in trouble. I guess the devil is mad because I left him in the airport without saying a word.’ Abigail subconsciously bit her lower lip, looking away.
“Miss Abi! Come in!” Ethan called her when she didn’t move in her spot.
“O-Okay…” she meekly said, slowly entering the car. She could feel the intense gaze Nathan was giving her. He was unusually quiet and his expression looked so cold.
“To the mansion,” Nathan said, commanding the chauffeur to drive.
There were five vehicles with them. The twenty-five bodyguards were escorting them on the highway.
Ethan was the only person talking to Abigail inside the car. Nathan was very quiet and Abigail was stealing glances at him from time to time. Nathan caught her twice so Abigail tried her best not to turn her head in Nathan’s direction. She just focused her attention on Ethan.
She knew it! Ethan was the reason why Nathan came to fetch her. At first, she thought it was Nathan’s idea to get her back. But she felt disappointed knowing that it was only Ethan who wanted her back.
Well, though Abigail was sharp and observant in many things, she was slow when it came to men’s feelings. She had lack experience when it came to this so it was hard for her to figure out Nathan’s real feelings.
When they arrived at the mansion, Little Ethan and Abigail stepped out of the car first. They were entering the door when Nathan finally called her name.
“Abi, meet me in my Study… in five minutes,” Nathan said with an unreadable expression on his face.
Abigail could only bob her head obediently. She felt like she was guilty of something and Nathan was about to grind her alive. ‘Damn! What is this all about? The devil looks grumpy!’
