Zombie Girl Evolution System!
Chapter 48: Courting death!
Summer turned her body around slowly at the sound of his shaking voice.
She had already sensed the four humans even before they saw her standing over the dead monster. She merely did not consider them enough of a threat to give them any attention.
She had thought they would simply mind their own business and leave her alone in the large forest. But she never expected them to be this unbelievably noisy.
Especially this human male standing in front of the group.
His eyes were trailing all over her body without any restraint. And his emotions were something she had never encountered before as a zombie, but the strange feeling disgusted her to her very core.
This feeling came directly from the lingering memories of human Summer.
Though Summer did not fully understand why her past human self was showing such a disgusted and hidden terrified expression because of this new emotion, her impression of this human male instantly hit rock bottom.
He was just a single door away from reaching the category of food.
Her dark, ruby-red eyes glowed faintly under the dim light of the gigantic forest canopy as she stared coldly at the young man.
Initial terror had held Olender in extreme caution just a moment ago. But the very second she turned around to face him, his incoherent, horny characteristics took complete control over all his other emotions.
Gosh.
He had fallen in love at first sight.
In his head he believed this had to be the legendary fate written just for him. Not only had he already secured three legendary beauties in this broken world, but now this absolute cutie was standing right in front of his eyes.
In Olender’s twisted mind, Summer was already his personal property.
Inside his dick-controlled brain, he completely forgot that the young girl had casually swallowed a raw monster core just a few seconds ago and remained totally fine.
Not only was her skin deathly pale, but faint dark red veins were etched delicately between her dark eyebrows and the outer corners of her eyes.
Her smooth crimson veins pulsated faintly with thick dark mana, giving her tiny face an ethereal yet terrifying appearance.
Everything about her physical body screamed absolute abnormality.
The other three women had already noticed those terrifying details as they silently moved a bit further away from this complete idiot. They took three cautious steps backward into the wet mud, keeping their weapons lowered to avoid drawing the pale girl’s wrath.
Summer’s cold gaze went straight past the young man and trailed onto the three other women behind him.
[Interesting...]
The system’s deep voice suddenly chimed in her mind with a tone of faint curiosity.
’Hm?’ Summer asked silently, keeping her eyes fixed on the group.
[That shit-yellow-haired girl’s identity is not simple. She might even be a descendant from a Middle World faction.]
’Why?’ Summer asked in her thoughts, recalling Salma’s hair. ’Is it because of her hair?’
Was Salma also a person from a Middle World?
[That is one of the smaller reasons. But the main reason is much more obvious. See her status screen.]
By saying that, the system generated a light blue holographic window right in front of Summer’s red eyes.
[Target Identified!]
Name: Ophiliya Legacy: Snow Lotus Art (Tier 1 - Unsealed) Level: 10 HP: 180 Mana: 280 STR: 15 | AGI: 12 | CONST: 18 | INT: 18 Talents: Cold Intent (Common), Snowstorm (Common) Equipment: Frost Steel Dagger (Uncommon), Leather Armor (Common)
Summer scanned the floating status window carefully from top to bottom. Except for the unknown option labeled Legacy, the shit-haired girl looked completely normal and nothing special at all.
Her physical attributes were slightly higher than the average human awakeners, but she was still infinitely weaker than an Elite zombie.
’What is a Legacy?’ Summer asked her system while tilting her small head.
[Legacies are secret arts an awakener develops when they ascend into Immortality.]
[No one can attain immortality from a primitive realm like Earth.]
[She might be a direct descendant of someone from a Middle World who attained true immortality, allowing her to inherit their powerful legacy through her bloodline.]
The system paused for a brief second before adding:
[When a person inherits an immortal legacy, their cultivation speed and mana control become far superior to ordinary humans.]
’Can I steal it?’ Summer asked instantly, her ruby-red eyes sparkling with greed.
The system found her sudden question so funny that it nearly glitched its interface.
[If yes, what method do you think you could possibly use to steal a bloodline legacy?]
’Eat her?’ Summer replied without a single second of hesitation.
The system was completely speechless for a long, silent moment.
[Will you really eat humans?]
’If they give me a cool legacy, I will eat them...’ Summer answered truthfully in her mind.
[Haha!]
The system laughed out loud inside her head before clarifying the rules.
[You cannot steal a legacy unless the original creator planted it directly onto your soul themselves.]
’Oh.’
Summer was deeply disappointed by the answer. She let out a tiny, barely audible sigh and kicked a small rock on the wet ground with her Swift Strider Boots.
[Why do you even want that low-level legacy anyway?] the system asked, sounding genuinely amused by her childish reaction.
’It sounds cool...’ Summer grumbled silently in her head.
[That is it?]
’I also want shit-yellow hair...’ Summer added in her thoughts, staring intensely at Ophiliya’s long blonde strands.
[So that is the main reason!]
The system laughed hysterically inside her mind.
If the proud blonde girl named Ophiliya could hear the zombie girl and the system casually referring to her as a shit-yellow-haired girl, she would definitely cough up blood in pure anger right on the spot.
It was BLONDE, you know! A fucking gorgeous BLONDE hair color!
Unaware of the silent conversation happening inside Summer’s mind, Olender puffed out his chest and took a bold step forward. He flashed what he believed to be a charming, heroic smile toward the pale zombie girl.
"Hey there, little beauty," Olender said, modulating his voice to sound deep and reliable. "Do not be afraid of us. I am Olender, the strongest warrior of this squad. As long as you follow me and become my..." Olender wanted to use the word woman, but he knew it was better to take things slowly, "...I will protect you from all the scary monsters in the forest!"
Maya and the mature woman looked at Olender with absolute disgust hidden behind their fake smiles. They could not believe this foolish boy was trying to recruit a monster girl who had just eaten a raw core.
Ophiliya raised a hand to cover her forehead, feeling an intense headache coming on. This idiot was going to get them all killed.
Summer stopped conversing with the system and shifted her cold red gaze back to Olender.
"Protect me? You?" she asked.
Summer didn’t know how to use different sound modulations for different emotions. She always sounded the same, angry or happy. If one didn’t look attentively at her eyes, they couldn’t sense her emotions at all.
Now she was pretty pissed off. How dare this human consider her weak? Did he think his pitiful strength could protect her?
