Zombie Bodyguard
Chapter 2322 - 2319: Wu Xiuluo’s Anger
Chapter 2322: Chapter 2319: Wu Xiuluo’s Anger
As Ksitigarbha Envoy, Wu Xiuluo is from the Netherworld and is particularly familiar with its aura, so she, like Lin Tian, noticed the abnormality.
An icy aura instantly spread out, and not far away, a mass of black gas appeared, swirling and transforming into a bottomless black hole.
This scene was all too familiar to Lin Tian—clearly, a ghost messenger had opened a passage from the Netherworld to the Human Realm. Sure enough, three black shadows stepped out from the black hole, dressed entirely in black, just like ghost messengers.
"What did you see?" Ning Luoxi lowered her voice, sensing something was amiss but seeing nothing.
In the Human Realm, people cannot see Netherworld ghost messengers with the physical eye, just like Xiao Manxuan needed the Zhang Family Talisman to see them. Although Ning Luoxi is an Ancient Martial Artist, she also couldn’t see them.
So, when someone claims to have seen paranormal events at a construction site, the likelihood is almost zero; it’s merely a fluke, a coincidence.
But Lin Tian was different; with zombie eyes, he could see through all Netherworld Spiritual Bodies, so a few ghost messengers were naturally no match, and it was even more natural for Wu Xiuluo, a Ksitigarbha Envoy, to see them.
She gently wiped Ning Luoxi’s forehead, and Ning Luoxi, as if her Heavenly Eye had been opened, instantly saw a different scenario: the Netherworld passage and the Yin Ghost Officers were right before her.
Luckily, it wasn’t her first encounter, so she calmed down after a brief surprise.
"What are these ghost messengers doing at the school?" Ning Luoxi frowned. The presence of ghost messengers is never a good sign, but as far as she knew, there was no life-threatening issue at the school.
"Why not catch one and ask?" Lin Tian said casually.
This stunned the two ladies, and Wu Xiuluo hesitated, "This doesn’t seem right. I’ve only heard of ghost messengers seizing souls, never of humans catching ghost messengers."
"What’s wrong with it? The Human Realm is weak, hence it is like this. If there were formidable figures in the Human Realm, would ghost messengers dare to seize people at will?"
Thinking of Xiao Manxuan’s situation made Lin Tian angry—her soul was seized before her lifespan ended. Even after realizing they took the wrong soul, they didn’t return her but rather wanted to exile her to Wangsi City.
If not for Lin Tian and Zhang Lingyu snatching back Xiao Manxuan’s soul, she would have ended up a vegetable.
The two ladies did not know the backstory and thus didn’t understand why Lin Tian was angry. Without explaining, Lin Tian stood up and broke Wu Xiuluo’s aura concealment.
"Who..." Once the aura was lifted, the three ghost messengers immediately noticed Lin Tian and the two ladies.
Having been discovered, the ladies had no reason to hide. They weren’t ones to shy away from trouble. Wu Xiuluo directly asked, "There are no resentful souls in the school, so why are you here?"
"You can actually see us." The leading ghost messenger was momentarily surprised.
"Perhaps they’re born with weak yang energy, hence able to see us," another ghost messenger speculated.
The leader frowned and coldly said to the three, "Regardless of what you see, I am executing a task. Mortals, step back, or I’ll seize you all."
"I told you, even little ghost messengers dare to act arrogantly in the Human Realm, seizing people at will." Lin Tian sneered.
Wu Xiuluo furrowed her brow, looking displeased: "The Netherworld has iron laws forbidding the seizing of innocent people. As ghost messengers, you are breaking the law, doubly guilty."
"Who are you, a mere mortal, to discuss the iron laws of the Netherworld with me, or even think of imposing guilt on me? I’ll seize you all and see who judges whom!" The leader sneered, and with a flick of his hand, a black iron chain shot out to bind the three of them.
The Soul-locking Chain for seizing human souls—once a mortal is ensnared, their three souls and seven spirits are drawn out.
This is why ghost messengers are so arrogant. Though not powerful in themselves, the Soul-locking Chain is devastating against mortals; once a soul is caught, the ghost messenger has complete control.
Yet Lin Tian ignored everything, reaching out to grab it. The three ghost messengers displayed mocking smiles, eager to see Lin Tian’s "ignorant" outcome.
But in the next moment, the three ghost messengers were dumbfounded. Lin Tian grabbed the Soul-locking Chain, setting it ablaze with violet flames. The violet flame traveled along the chain, rushing towards the leader.
The leader, feeling the destructive aura of the violet flame, was terrified, nearly losing his soul, and hastily let go. Lin Tian yanked the chain over and then swung it.
The fiery chain circled, ensnaring the leader, who screamed miserably as white smoke rose from his sizzling body.
Had Lin Tian not controlled the violet flame’s intensity, the leader would have been consumed by fire, soul completely scattered.
The event happened so swiftly that the other two ghost messengers were momentarily stunned. Nonetheless, as ghost messengers, they quickly regained their composure, each darting toward Ning Luoxi and Wu Xiuluo.
Wu Xiuluo merely unleashed a golden light, striking one ghost messenger instantly, who was sent flying, while the other transformed into black smoke, diving toward Ning Luoxi.
"Netherworld iron laws forbid possessing mortals; you are truly lawless..." Wu Xiuluo was furious.
But as the black smoke approached Ning Luoxi, her necklace suddenly emitted a golden radiance, piercing through the smoke. With a scream from within, a ghost messenger was forced out, rather disheveled.
"Retreat immediately and report back..." the leader called out with an effort.
The two ghost messengers scrambled up, swiftly diving back into the black hole. Wu Xiuluo, looking colder than ever, thrust her hand forward, and a golden giant hand appeared, reaching into the black hole, snatching the two ghost messengers back out.
Lin Tian was amazed; he hadn’t expected the quiet and elegant Wu Xiuluo to be so forceful when taking action, clearly genuinely angry.
"Have mercy, my lords..." The ghost messengers stopped struggling, pleading directly, a stark contrast from their previous arrogance.
Wu Xiuluo shook her head, deeply disappointed, and tossed the ghost messengers to the ground.
Lin Tian, still holding the leader, coldly asked, "Answer well, and we’ll let you go. First question, why are you here at the school?"
The three ghost messengers exchanged glances, seemingly hesitating, but were swiftly intimidated by Lin Tian’s flames.
"We came to search for the reincarnation of Ksitigarbha," the leader’s response left the trio stunned.
"Why are you searching for Ksitigarbha?" Wu Xiuluo inquired; she too was looking for the reincarnation of Ksitigarbha.
Such interrogations go—once the opening is answered, they basically give up. The leader answered truthfully again: "The Netherworld war is raging fiercely, and the Netherworld King has yet to take action. Our superiors ordered us to the Human Realm to find Ksitigarbha, hoping he will intervene and resolve this crisis."
The two ladies looked at Lin Tian simultaneously, for the "Netherworld war" matched exactly what Lin Tian had said, indicating that the war in the Netherworld was real.
"Looking at me doesn’t change the facts; facts are facts," Lin Tian responded.
"My lords, we discovered traces of Ksitigarbha’s aura briefly appearing at the school and its affiliated hospital, so we came to investigate. This is a matter of great importance, and we dare not conceal it from you," the leader said respectfully.
The temporary appearance of Ksitigarbha’s aura mentioned by the leader likely occurred when Qiao Xiaoyi revealed his true form.
