Chapter 2318: Chapter 2315: New Semester Begins
"What is it that even you can’t handle?" Ling Zishan was slightly surprised.
"My parentage," Lin Tian was very straightforward. Recently, he always had the illusion that the family he was searching for was right in front of him, but illusions are just illusions. Maybe it was because Aunt Wang and the others were so kind to him, giving him a feeling of having family.
Ling Zishan was slightly taken aback, then asked, "You don’t know who your parents are? Do you have any relevant information, like your original name, birth date, or even your parents’ names, or any related memories?"
Lin Tian shook his head decisively, "I don’t have anything. I grew up with my grandfather, he gave me my name, and my date of birth is the day he found me. Let alone my parents’ names, as for memories, it’s all blank."
Listening to Lin Tian’s words, Ling Zishan remained silent, seemingly lost in thought. Lin Tian found it a bit strange and softly said, "Aunt Ling?"
"Oh, I’m fine, please continue," Ling Zishan quickly responded, snapping back to reality.
Lin Tian and Miss exchanged a glance, then he said, "I’ve finished." Ling Zishan’s reaction was a bit unusual, how could an Innate Expert be so absent-minded.
"Don’t worry, Wanxi mentioned something about this to me. I will do everything I can to help you," Ling Zishan promised.
"Regardless of the outcome, I still want to thank Aunt Ling in advance," Lin Tian said earnestly.
As it was late, after speaking, each went their way, leaving Ling Zishan and Ling Shuiyao standing in the night, looking into the distance, lost in thought.
"Aunt, what are you thinking about?" Ling Shuiyao asked curiously, sensing that her aunt was not in a good mood.
"I was wondering what kind of people Lin Tian’s parents are," Ling Zishan said softly, with a strange light in her eyes.
Ling Shuiyao playfully smiled and said, "Isn’t there a saying that girls look like their fathers, and boys look like their mothers? So, Lin Tian’s mother must be very beautiful, just like Aunt."
Ling Zishan gave her a sidelong glance, quite amused, "You little rascal, don’t think that just by flattering me, you can skip your exercises tomorrow. From tomorrow, your exercise load will double, only then might you catch up to one-tenth of Lin Tian."
"Aunt, you’re not trying to kill me, are you? Lin Tian is a monster, who would want to chase him," Ling Shuiyao groaned, feeling like she said the wrong thing this time.
"Suit yourself, even if you don’t chase Lin Tian, you should at least catch up to Xiao Manxue. She’s already at the Innate Early Stage, and after this Kunlun trip, I feel she’s not far from the Mid Innate," Ling Zishan calmly said.
Ling Shuiyao immediately wore a mournful expression and lamented, "Oh heavens, oh earth, why are there so many geniuses in my generation..."
Lin Tian returned to the dormitory late at night, but the two old men were still awake, not playing chess, but waiting for news from Ling Xiao.
"How did it go?" Ling Xuesong asked seriously.
Lin Tian replied solemnly, "It’s fine."
"That’s good, that’s good," Ling Xuesong muttered to himself as he walked back to the dormitory.
Though Ling Xuesong usually favored Ling Shuiyao, when something happened, he also cared for other family members.
Without a word spoken overnight, the next morning, after washing up, Lin Tian packed his things, shouldered his backpack, and left the building.
The two old men saw him with luggage and were taken aback. Zhuge Cai Zhe asked in surprise, "Xiao Tian, are you leaving?"
"Everything’s sorted out, it’s time to leave, and school is about to start," Lin Tian replied truthfully.
Ling Xuesong nodded, sighing, "All good things must come to an end, safe travels, come back when you have time, consider this your home."
"Old Man Ling, you act like Xiao Tian is your grandson, don’t get too sentimental," Zhuge Cai Zhe retorted.
Lin Tian chuckled and shook his head, the two old men couldn’t give up bickering, waved his hand, and without further delay, gracefully descended the mountain.
Miss and Xiao Manxue were waiting at the foot of the mountain, along with Ling Zishan and Wang Wanxi, but Ling Shuiyao was not seen.
"Xiao Tian, you go back first, Ling Pavilion Master and I have some matters to attend to," Wang Wanxi said.
Lin Tian nodded, just about to leave, when a voice suddenly stopped him.
"Lin Tian, wait a minute..." Ling Shuiyao was carrying someone, quickly catching up.
Little La Jiao carried someone, yet still moved swiftly, reaching them effortlessly without even breaking a sweat.
"Sister Ling Xiao wanted to say goodbye to you personally," Ling Shuiyao said, setting the person down and supporting her.
Ling Xiao was already able to stand, looking much better, but still unable to walk, needing Ling Shuiyao to carry her down.
"Lin Tian, safe travels," Ling Xiao seemed to have a lot to say, but in the end, only uttered a few words, perhaps this farewell was forever.
"Alright, take care," Lin Tian said simply, bowed to a few of them, then turned and left, leaving only a dashing figure behind.
Once far enough away, Miss said, "Sister Ling Xiao probably has feelings for you, yet you’re so cold and unfeeling, not saying a few more words?"
"If there’s no outcome, don’t give false hope. It’s better to be straightforward and decisive," Lin Tian said earnestly, naturally earning a simultaneous eye roll from the sisters.
Down the mountain, there was a driver arranged by Langya Pavilion, and at the airport, the plane was also prepared. Since school was opening the next day, Lin Tian and the others flew directly to Jinghua City, not returning to Xikou City.
Although the two places were over a thousand kilometers apart, it was much closer than going to Kunlun, and the plane was faster than a helicopter.
Just after noon, the plane landed at Jinghua City International Airport, Miss wasn’t a student and had to leave as well.
"I have business at the company, so I won’t send you to school. I’ll come see you when I have time," Miss said a bit reluctantly. She initially wanted to ask Lin Tian to look after her sister, but thought it unnecessary, nowhere safer than beside Lin Tian.
After a simple meal at the airport, Miss left first, and Lin Tian and Xiao Manxuan returned to school.
After a winter break, even though Jinghua City was in the north, spring had returned, the trees on campus donning green attire, becoming lively with many students returning early.
"Wow, school is still the best," Xiao Manxuan said, walking down the campus path, arms spread wide in joy.
Though the school’s environment was not comparable to Langya Pavilion or Medicine King Mansion, the school had its own vibe. It was the temple of knowledge, the place where youth begins.
"Lin Tian, it’s really you... I finally found you guys,"
Lin Tian was about to turn onto a sidestreet, heading back to the dormitory, when a voice filled with excitement and flamboyance came.
At school, no one was as flamboyant and cheeky as Ning Wenbin. At the sight of his smiling face, which still begged to be punched, Lin Tian turned around.
"Where have you guys been? No news the entire winter break. I thought you’d be looking for Sister Luoxi," Ning Wenbin ran over, grinning, then suddenly exclaimed, "Huh, something feels different about you two but I can’t quite tell what."
Lin Tian and Xiao Manxuan exchanged a smile; Ning Wenbin might be cheeky, but he had a sharp eye.
