Zombie Apocalypse: I Have Safe Zone Superpower
Chapter 841: Retest
Chapter 841: Chapter 841: Retest
With so many people ganging up on her at once, she did not have particularly good odds of winning without sustaining some injuries herself.
She took a cautious step backward, her muscles tensing as she tried to figure out how she could take all of them down without allowing them to overwhelm her.
Just as she was wondering what to do, a deep voice suddenly echoed through the street.
"What is going on here?"
The voice carried such authority that everyone instinctively turned around.
A man was standing at the entrance of the store.
The light from outside fell across his body, outlining his tall figure and making his presence even more striking. Bella’s eyes widened slightly when she saw him.
’He must be over six feet tall.’
The moment he stepped properly into the light and his face became visible, Bella was stunned.
He was exceptionally handsome.
His pale face was framed by short, neatly styled hair, while his sharp jawline gave him an elegant yet intimidating appearance.
His deep silvery eyes swept across the scene with a calm, detached expression that made it difficult to tell what he was thinking.
Among all the superior beings Bella had encountered, he was the only one whose hair was short and styled in a distinctly modern manner.
His fitted silvery suit emphasized his tall, broad frame, while the insignia attached to his uniform immediately revealed his identity.
’He must belong to the security department.’
The man turned his cold gaze toward the thugs.
"Who are you people? Leave right now. Otherwise, I will have no choice but to put every one of you behind bars."
The thugs glared at the newcomer.
"Inspector Wilson, I think you should keep your mouth shut and stay away from our matter. If you continue ruining our business repeatedly, then we will have no choice but to have you transferred somewhere else."
Wilson remained completely calm.
However, that single exchange was enough for Bella to understand quite a lot.
’So these people are not ordinary thugs. They actually have connections.’
She could not help looking at Wilson with a faintly worried gaze.
’This man is definitely an honest person.’
Meanwhile, Wilson continued looking at the thugs without showing the slightest hint of fear.
"You are all going to leave within the next two minutes. Even if you manage to get me transferred, I will make sure to drag every one of you down with me before I leave."
His voice remained steady, but there was an unmistakable firmness behind his words.
The thugs exchanged glances before finally retreating.
Even while leaving, they did not forget to make mocking faces at Wilson.
Wilson completely ignored them.
Once they were gone, he walked toward Bella. His expression remained professional and authoritative, but there was a faint trace of concern hidden beneath it.
"Are you all right?"
Bella quickly shook her head.
"Yes, yes, I am fine. Inspector Wilson, since you are already here, how about I make something for you to eat?"
Wilson did not linger. "Since you are fine, then I will take my leave."
With those words, he turned around and walked away before Bella could ask him anything else.
Bella stood there, staring at his back for a long time.
’He is definitely one of the most handsome men I have ever seen.’
Only after Wilson disappeared from sight did Bella finally close the door.
Even while walking away, her thoughts repeatedly drifted back to him.
Meanwhile, Alana was facing a completely different problem.
Even though she had shown her identification card and demonstrated how enormous her account balance was, no one was willing to rent a storefront to her.
The town where she had been assigned happened to have a large population of nobles, and these nobles placed an enormous amount of importance on blood compatibility.
Alana had already entered her blood compatibility information, and Lord Peng had falsified the result to show 78 per cent.
Under ordinary circumstances, 78 percent would have been considered an exceptionally high number.
However, among the nobles of this particular town, it was not considered impressive enough to earn their attention.
As a result, no one was willing to rent Alana a storefront.
The repeated rejection left Alana feeling increasingly frustrated.
’Should I get an actual blood compatibility test done?’
She rubbed her forehead tiredly.
’If, by some coincidence, my real compatibility is above 80 percent, perhaps I can use that result to convince them to rent a storefront to me.’
However, after spending so much time being rejected, Alana eventually became too exhausted to continue searching.
She decided to rent a room at a hotel for the night.
Who would have thought that the moment she arrived at the reception desk and the receptionist saw her ID, the woman’s expression would immediately change?
She glanced at Alana’s identification before making a slight face.
"Only rooms on the lower levels are available. Do you want to check in?"
Alana looked around the hotel.
Considering the condition of the entire building, she felt that there was little chance that even the lower-level rooms would be bad.
"Yes, that is fine."
After all, the floor beneath her feet was pristine white with a smooth metallic sheen that reflected the bright lights above.
The entire building was brightly illuminated, and small cleaning robots moved quietly across the corridors, polishing the floor and wiping away every trace of dust without needing anyone to supervise them.
Alana could not help staring at them for a moment.
’At least the hotel itself seems much better than I expected.’
The other aspect of the hotel was that it was incredibly clean. There were even a few artificial plants placed around the corridors, giving the entire place a pleasant and lively appearance.
Alana had initially thought that perhaps there would not be a single bad room in the entire hotel.
That impression lasted until she was led down one of the hallways.
The corridor eventually took her to a narrow elevator, which carried her down to the basement. When the doors opened, Alana’s expression immediately changed.
There was a room waiting for her down there, but unlike the rest of the hotel, it was nowhere near as clean or well-maintained. The floor was made of wooden panels, and the walls appeared to have been painted properly, but that was about the extent of the effort that had been put into the place.
The air even felt slightly damp and heavy.
’So this is what they consider a room on the lower level.’
Alana’s brows twitched in irritation.
She was furious enough to turn around and leave immediately, but she knew that no other hotel or landlord in the town had been willing to rent her a place. If she walked away now, she would have nowhere to stay.
In the end, she could only swallow her anger and remain there.
The room was extremely small. The moment Alana stepped inside, an old memory suddenly surfaced in her mind, reminding her of the cramped room she had lived in during the difficult period of her university life.
The room was clean, at least, but it was painfully small.
There was a single bed, and that was practically the entire room. There was barely enough space to walk around it, and there was no room for anything else.
Alana sighed softly before lying down. ’At least I have somewhere to sleep.’
Before long, exhaustion overcame her, and she fell asleep.
However, she had barely rested for long when a loud banging sound suddenly came from the door.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Alana frowned and slowly opened her eyes. She sat up, rubbed the sleep from her face, and calmly walked toward the door.
"Who is it?"
"Your food is here."
Alana frowned and glanced at the time. It was only seven in the evening.
’Isn’t that a little too early?’
Still, she opened the door.
Sure enough, the same receptionist was standing outside. The woman rolled her eyes before thrusting two bags of nutrient liquid toward Alana.
"Please drink these."
Her expression was completely perfunctory, as though she were simply completing an unpleasant task.
Before Alana could even respond, the receptionist turned around and left.
Alana stood at the doorway for a moment, staring at her retreating figure.
’Their service is truly something else.’
The corner of her lips twitched.
She almost wanted to make a biting remark, but she eventually held herself back.
