Chapter 1263: Five Thousand Years Of Pioneering, Astonishing Harvest (1)
Wu Yuan’s explosion of power came without warning, revealing a strength that left the Abyss Alliance True Saints utterly stunned.
“How can he be this strong?”
“He’s been active for billions of years, yet never once displayed this level of power!”
“To have achieved complete mastery of an Eternal Matter Body…Truly frightening.” The gathered True Saints exchanged incredulous glances, their voices tinged with both awe and fear.
The path of matter represented an extremely difficult cultivation path. Many True Saints had never even managed to cultivate an Eternal Matter Body, and reaching a small degree of mastery was considered remarkable. Those who achieved a large degree of mastery could match most Full True Saints in combat prowess. As for complete mastery? Even some Dao Zenithels failed to achieve it.
Unbeknownst to these True Saints, Wu Yuan had actually broken through earlier on the path of matter than his self-created Dao, possessing an innate, almost preternatural talent for this path.
More significantly, as the Creation Dao Master, he held inherent advantages when cultivating the path of matter. This was similar to his predecessor, Mountain Daoist, whose self-created Dao wasn’t particularly formidable, yet had cultivated a Xuanhuang Body and forged a legendary reputation.
Wu Yuan moved with breathtaking speed, the Xiantian Instrument wings unfurled across his back, enhancing his already exquisite movement techniques. His form appeared both majestic and nimble as he closed the distance to the fleeing True Saint in a flash.
His gaze turned glacial as he observed his target, regarding him with the cold detachment one might give to a corpse.
“This is bad,” the True Saint panicked, his voice cracking with fear and fury. “Save me! Someone save me!”
The battlefield dynamics had shifted too rapidly. From Wu Yuan’s sudden eruption that swept away over ten True Saints to his focused pursuit of a single target, everything had transpired in the blink of an eye. The nearby True Saints, still reeling from being sent flying, trembled with fear, while those farther away lacked sufficient time to render assistance.
“Daoist Wu Yuan, this is a misunderstanding! A grave misunderstanding! Please stay your hand!” An urgent voice cut through the void, resonating through endless space via spacetime fluctuations.
A black-robed figure was traversing an array filled with hazy light, swiftly approaching the scene.
“It’s True Saint Mo Lin.”
“He’s still here? With his formidable strength, how has he not entered the Tenth Chaos Void?” The True Saints from other factions battling the Abyss Alliance immediately recognized the newcomer.
“True Saint Mo Lin has arrived. Exercise caution,” True Saint Tian Peng transmitted a warning to Wu Yuan. With his power, fending off nearly ten True Saints posed little challenge, but a swift escape would prove difficult.
Wu Yuan, however, completely disregarded these warnings. He crossed hundreds of thousands of li in an instant, as casually as taking a step or two in the mortal realm, and effortlessly caught up to his target.
Dazzling blade rays erupted in his wake!
“Ahhh! Damn it!” The Abyss Alliance True Saint roared, violently swinging his limbs in a desperate counterattack, attempting to block Wu Yuan’s strike.
“Stop him!”
“Hurry!” The other True Saints raced forward at maximum speed.
With a graceful motion, Wu Yuan flew directly past the beast True Saint. Vast, sweeping blade rays completely engulfed his opponent, the impact force shattering his Eternal Psyche.
Two exchanges. One True Saint down.
Wu Yuan hadn’t even needed to wield his Chaos Treasure saber; the beast True Saint was simply too weak, not even qualifying as a Peak True Saint.
“What?”
“That saber technique! It must approach the level of a Dao Zenithel.”
“Even if not quite at the Threshold Dao Zenithel level, it can’t be far. Flee!” Terror spread through the group of Abyss Alliance True Saints.
Such a display was simply too horrifying.
“Run!”
“Leave immediately!” The remaining Abyss Alliance True Saints no longer dared linger, scattering in all directions. They genuinely feared continuing their obstruction.
How brief had the battle been? And already, they had lost one of their own. Continued resistance would likely result in their complete annihilation.
“Wu Yuan, you are too audacious!” True Saint Mo Lin, rushing from an immense distance, shouted furiously. “Cease this immediately. We’ll permit your passage. If you persist in this slaughter, you force hundreds of True Saints to unleash their full power against you!”
True Saint Mo Lin’s anxiety was palpable. He had been tasked with guarding the array, a duty that should have hardly been dangerous. When facing individuals of overwhelming strength, they typically granted passage, as they had done with True Saint Qing Yan. Once approximately two hundred had broken through, they planned to withdraw the array entirely.
Their goal was to delay, creating favorable conditions for the Abyss Alliance True Saints who had already entered the Tenth Chaos Void.
Who could have anticipated that Wu Yuan, whose offensive capabilities had been described as merely “average” in Wan Yu Tower’s intelligence reports, would demonstrate such terrifying prowess?
“Kill me?” Wu Yuan’s voice carried a dangerous edge. “Even now, you dare threaten me?” His cold gaze swept over the dozen or so fleeing True Saints, murderous intent radiating from him like waves.
Wu Yuan had always lived by one principle: repay both kindness and grievances tenfold.
Only, slaying them all presented a challenge. If his mana body took action with the Chaos Treasure, Primordial Golden Lotus, it could control an area of spacetime to suppress dozens of True Saints effortlessly, allowing his ether body to slaughter at leisure.
However, they hadn’t even entered the Tenth Chaos Void yet. Wu Yuan remained reluctant to reveal his trump cards prematurely. Exposing his complete mastery of the Eternal Matter Body served to intimidate the weaker opponents; there was no need to reveal additional techniques.
I’ll employ another approach, then. Wu Yuan’s mind stirred, and nine sabers immediately flew from his hand, soaring toward the four directions of the void.
The nine Xiantian Instrument sabers traversed tens of millions of li in an instant, transforming the Chiaroscuro Domain into something far more terrifying as fearsome blade rays manifested within it.
This was a world of sabers.
The transformation occurred with breathtaking speed. Under the domain’s suppression, eight of the twelve fleeing True Saints failed to escape in time. These eight felt the domain’s shocking pressure far more intensely than before.
A domain?
A long-range secret art? During his sempiternal lifeform stage, Wu Yuan primarily focused on body refinement. His long-range secret arts should be unremarkable, likely of limited power. True Saint Mo Lin reasoned silently.
Many True Saints shared his assessment. Everyone had limits to their mental energy. Most crucially, it was difficult to alter one’s Dao. Experiences during the sempiternal lifeform stage profoundly influenced the path of one’s self-created Dao, so most eternal powerhouses excelled in merely one or two areas. Even those who cultivated multiple aspects rarely achieved mastery in all of them.
“Chiaroscuro Saber Domain, detonate!” Wu Yuan activated the nine Xiantian Instrument sabers that had integrated with the Chiaroscuro Domain.
In that instant, blade rays erupted throughout the entire domain, like a tightly-closed flower bud suddenly blossoming, radiating dazzling light. The effect resembled a celestial body filled with blades violently exploding, shockwaves surging outward in all directions.
Nine sabers!
The attack mainly targeted three True Saints of relatively weaker strength, all at the Standard True Saint level.
The eight True Saints had barely begun their escape when overwhelming blade rays struck them. After just two waves of blade rays, the three targeted True Saints fell. The other five suffered grievous injuries but finally managed to flee beyond Wu Yuan’s domain’s reach.
Of the thirteen True Saints who had surrounded Wu Yuan, four had now fallen.
As expected, my long-range attacks still require refinement. If employed by my mana body, this technique would be even stronger. Wu Yuan frowned slightly.
Other True Saints struggled to achieve well-rounded mastery, but Wu Yuan was different. As his two true selves shared their consciousnesses, many insights and cultivation experiences were transferred between them. Most importantly, an eternal powerhouse’s mana allowed one to freely employ both close combat and long-range attacks.
While Wu Yuan’s body refiner self primarily focused on deducing his self-created Dao, he occasionally combined domain secret arts with long-range saber arrays, creating a killing move called the Chiaroscuro Saber Domain. The technique was ineffective against super powerhouses and would struggle to eliminate a Peak True Saint swiftly, but it effortlessly slaughtered Standard True Saints, capable of eliminating multiple opponents with a mere gesture.
A pity that my mental energy remains limited. Wu Yuan reflected. Employing the Chiaroscuro Saber Domain demands complete concentration, making it difficult to maintain peak close combat readiness simultaneously.
For powerhouses, manipulating powerful artifacts and unleashing formidable secret arts consumed mana, but that represented only one aspect of the challenge. The critical limitation was the drain on mental energy.
…
“This?”
“To think even Wu Yuan’s long-range attacks are this powerful!”
“How can this be possible? Does he truly have no weaknesses?” Wu Yuan’s casual slaughter of three True Saints left the numerous True Saints in the surrounding void increasingly stunned.
As True Saints themselves, they possessed keen discernment. They recognized that the long-range secret art Wu Yuan had just employed unquestionably reached the Full True Saint level. Otherwise, how could he swiftly eliminate multiple True Saints?
Close combat prowess approaching the Dao Zenithel level, long-range attacks at the Full True Saint level, and physical defense that defied the heavens. The mere thought made this gathering of True Saints shudder.
Too perfect. Utterly flawless.
Wu Yuan declined to continue his pursuit. Instead, he waved his hand, swiftly collecting all treasures left behind by the three fallen True Saints, diverting a thread of mental energy to examine them. Compared to conventional adventuring, the rewards of slaughter came far swifter.
A black streak of light crossed the void, landing not far from Wu Yuan. True Saint Mo Lin had arrived.
“True Saint Wu Yuan, your thirst for blood is truly unreasonable.” True Saint Mo Lin fixed his gaze on Wu Yuan, his voice low. “We already offered to grant you passage. Why persist in this bloodshed?
“These True Saints will eventually be revived regardless. Why must you incur such great enmity?” True Saint Mo Lin’s tone conveyed both anger and genuine perplexity. “Even if hundreds of us True Saints attack in concert, you may not succeed in eliminating us all.”
Not far away, the True Saints of the Abyss Alliance rapidly withdrew from their siege of True Saint Tian Peng. In the void around them, hundreds of True Saints fixed their gaze upon True Saint Mo Lin and Wu Yuan.
“My thirst for blood is unreasonable?” Wu Yuan’s lips curved into a cold smile before his features hardened to stone. His voice cut through the stillness like ice. “I’ve made myself clear before—those who block my path shall die!”
He fixed his steely gaze on Mo Lin. “I’ve only claimed four lives thus far. That’s me showing restraint. If your Abyss Alliance finds this unsatisfactory, by all means, continue the fight.”
A heavy silence descended upon the void.
True Saint Mo Lin stared at Wu Yuan, his jaw clenched with reluctance. Ranked in the top hundred on the True Saint Rankings, commanding hundreds stationed here, every fiber of his being yearned to order an all-out assault against this upstart.
But reality crushed his desire. Even setting aside whether they could actually kill Wu Yuan, the power he had just displayed had drained the will to fight from most of the True Saints in the Abyss Alliance’s ranks. True Saints weren’t eager to throw their lives away for nothing.
After a half-breath of tense silence, True Saint Mo Lin inhaled deeply and forced his face into the semblance of a smile. “Very well! True Saint Wu Yuan, I respect your strength. Our Abyss Alliance was in the wrong this time.” He hesitated, then added, “But regarding the True Saints you killed…Perhaps you could return the treasures you’ve taken from them?”
“Those are my spoils of war,” Wu Yuan replied coldly, his voice devoid of compromise. “I don’t make a habit of returning treasures.”
Fury and helplessness warred within True Saint Mo Lin. He struggled to suppress the rage burning in his chest.
“Fine!” He spat after what felt like an eternity. “Make way for True Saint Wu Yuan.”
Like the distant roar of ocean tides, the Abyss Alliance True Saints parted to form a clear path through the void, their will to fight Wu Yuan long evaporated.
“Tian Peng, let’s go,” Wu Yuan called out.
“Alright.”
Whoosh! Wu Yuan and True Saint Tian Peng transformed into twin streaks of light, brazenly striding through the spacetime rift before vanishing from the senses of all the True Saints present.
“Stop the rest of them,” True Saint Mo Lin commanded in a low voice, his gaze sweeping fiercely over True Saint Kuang Yan and the others, as if seeking to vent all his pent-up rage upon them.
“This True Saint Wu Yuan actually refused to bring us along.”
“To think the Abyss Alliance would yield so easily.”
“These cowards who only bully the weak,” True Saint Kuang Yan and the others grumbled, their hearts filled with frustration and helplessness.
Wu Yuan’s unwillingness to bring them along wasn’t surprising. They were all competitors after all. That he hadn’t slaughtered them outright was mercy enough; how could they expect his help?
But none had anticipated that the Abyss Alliance would back down after just four True Saints had fallen. Had the fight continued, they might have found an opportunity to exploit the chaos.
