Yuan’s Ascension

Chapter 1216: The Ultimate Pinnacle Of The Nine Realms, The Great Battle Begins (1)

An Overlord slaying a Peak Perennial? His proclamation thundered across the heavens, stunning everyone into silence.

Perennial Gan Hou exchanged bewildered glances with his companions. Could Overlord Wu Ji truly accomplish such a feat? Instinctively, they suspected that Wu Yuan was being too overconfident.

This was a natural assumption. Though the vast megaverse produced several Legends of the River, the Nine Realms was unable to produce such monstrous prodigies capable of Dao pioneering at the sempiternal stage.

“Wu Ji?” Overlord Shang Cai’s voice trembled with shock, yet a flicker of hope kindled in her heart as she considered a certain possibility. She immediately transmitted urgent messages: “Wu Ji, exercise caution. If victory seems uncertain, flee without hesitation.”

“Kill us?” Perennial Long Gu scoffed, his laughter echoing in the void. “Ridiculous!”

The Tian Luo Holy Sect clearly regarded Overlord Wu Ji with great seriousness—why else dispatch thirteen Peak Perennials against him? But this massive show of force gave them absolute assurance of Wu Ji’s death. No other outcome seemed plausible.

“Keep Gan Hou and the others occupied,” Long Gu commanded, his voice sharp as a blade. His form streaked across the sky like a comet. “The rest, follow me to slay Overlord Wu Ji.”

“Yes!” The Perennial powerhouses roared in unison.

While five Perennials engaged Gan Hou and his two companions, the remaining eight converged on Wu Yuan, their killing intent palpable.

Boom! Boom! Eternal-level arcane arts were unleashed, and Xiantian artifacts were activated, bombarding Wu Yuan from all directions.

Three Perennials specialized in close combat rushed in, with Perennial Long Gu at the forefront. Though his personal strength might not vastly exceed the others, his complete set of mid-grade Xiantian artifacts made him the most formidable threat.

In that breathless moment, the terrifying might of eight Perennials seemed to completely submerge Wu Yuan beneath waves of attacks.

Just as everyone believed he was done for, Wu Yuan finally drew his saber.

Whoosh! Nine blade rays illuminated the heavens, each gleaming arc like a thunderbolt streaking across the horizon. The rays contained the essence of ultimate destruction, as if heaven and earth itself was being sundered. Everywhere the blade rays passed, the attacks from the eight Perennial powerhouses shattered and collapsed into nothingness.

Perennial Long Gu, at the forefront, bore the full brunt of six blade rays. Fear flashed in his eyes as realization dawned. How is this possible?! He’s just an Overlord—how can his strength be so overwhelming? Has he pioneered a Dao?

A sempiternal lifeform who pioneered a Dao—such a being had never before existed in the Nine Realms.

The six blade rays struck in succession, each one displaying power at the Threshold Saint level. The first three cuts alone inflicted grievous wounds on Perennial Long Gu. By the sixth, his body was completely annihilated—reduced to scattered particles that dissipated in the void.

Perennial Long Gu was dead.

This was the fourth step of Wu Yuan’s self-created Dao—Destruction and Genesis. Though technically only a Saint-level technique, its offensive power was extraordinarily terrifying, representing absolute annihilation.

The remaining three blade rays, though they claimed no more lives, severely wounded the seven remaining Perennials, sending them tumbling backward through space.

“How is this possible?”

“In one strike, he defeated eight Perennials and completely annihilated Perennial Long Gu?”

“Saint-level power. It’s absolutely Saint-level power!”

The seven Perennial were astounded that a sempiternal lifeform like Overlord Wu Ji could unleash such might, and suddenly realized the grave danger they faced. In theory, a single Saint could completely overwhelm a large group of Perennial powerhouses.

“What?” Perennial Gan Hou and countless others protected by the array stared in stunned disbelief at the scene unfolding in the void.

“He defeated eight Perennials and even killed Long Gu? Overlord Wu Ji?! Heavens!”

The impossible display kindled hope in their hearts. Perhaps this battle could be won after all.

“Wu Ji has truly pioneered his Dao?” Overlord Shang Cai whispered, her eyes wide. Even though she had harbored some hope, it still felt like a dream.

Having revealed just a fraction of his power, Wu Yuan had shocked everyone. But inwardly he remained perfectly calm. Killing a few Perennials meant nothing to him. If he wished, he could annihilate them all in a single exchange.

For now, revealing Threshold Saint power is sufficient. Wu Yuan thought serenely. Revealing too much strength now might not serve his long-term goals.

Let’s kill the remaining Perennials one by one. He transformed into a streak of light and lunged forward to attack.

“He’s coming!” one of the Perennials cried out, panic evident in his voice.

“Should we flee?”

“If we scatter, we’ll be picked off one by one. We must retreat together and attack from a distance. His attacks rival a Saint’s, but his defensive capabilities must be weaker. Perhaps we can stop him.” The battle-hardened Perennials immediately chose what was theoretically their best strategy.

Nearly ten eternal arcane arts whistled through the air from all directions toward Wu Yuan, attempting to block his advance. Simultaneously, the Perennial powerhouses transformed into streams of light, rapidly retreating.

Overwhelming me with numbers? Wu Yuan’s lips curved into a slight smile.

The space around him distorted like rippling water, allowing him to perfectly avoid the incoming eternal arcane arts. With a single saber strike, he cleaved through one oncoming spell, causing it to dissipate into motes of light. His speed virtually unimpeded, Wu Yuan charged directly at one of the Perennial powerhouses.

“Fall.” Blade rays enveloped his target like a tidal wave.

“Ah! Die!” The Perennial wielding a long spear roared in defiance, unleashing countless spear silhouettes. Like venomous snakes hidden in darkness, they lunged toward Wu Yuan’s head.

Clang! Saber and spear collided with a sound that shook the heavens. The tremendous impact twisted the spear shaft aside. This was followed up with a blade ray sweeping across in a perfect arc, cleaving through the Perennial’s neck. His head flew off, the expression of shock forever frozen on his face.

This was merely the first strike. More blade rays slashed down in quick succession, completely annihilating the Perennial’s body.

Another fallen.

“What?” The remaining Tian Luo Holy Sect powerhouses were thoroughly terrified. “His movement technique—!”

Not only was Overlord Wu Ji’s attack frightening, but his movement technique was equally elusive. Despite being surrounded by Perennial powerhouses, he had broken free with apparent ease.

“Your turn,” Wu Yuan continued without pause, traversing hundreds of thousands of li through the void. Again, his battle saber struck, releasing blade rays that resembled a massive vortex forming in space. A ray of light rose from within, shooting through a third Perennial powerhouse, who collapsed without a sound.

In three exchanges, three Perennials had fallen. This bloody, brutal efficiency finally made the remaining Tian Luo Holy Sect Perennials realize the terrifying gap between them and their opponent.

“Run!”

“Quickly!”

“We can’t hold him back. Scatter and flee.” The remaining ten Perennials began frantically fleeing for their lives, abandoning all semblance of order or strategy.

Scattering meant that whoever encountered Overlord Wu Ji alone would certainly die—perhaps most would be slaughtered. But staying together? They would be hunted down one by one until all perished.

“Don’t let them go!” Perennial Gan Hou called out, his voice tinged with both shock and excitement. “Hold them back!”

Though he didn’t understand how Overlord Wu Ji had grown so strong all of a sudden, he knew that this was a golden opportunity. Each additional Perennial killed meant resolving one more major threat for the holy sect.

The three Perennials from the Zi Ming Holy Sect exhausted themselves controlling the array, attempting to restrain the fleeing enemies. But the most domineering presence remained Overlord Wu Ji.

His movements were swift and fierce, yet as casual as a stroll through a garden. Each time he swung his battle saber, a Perennial would inevitably fall.

“Wu Ji, you won’t live for long!” Some Perennials howled madly in their final moments, struggling desperately against the inevitable. In the Nine Realms, there was no concept of resurrection for Eternals. Once fallen, it was a true and permanent death.

“This is a war of holy sects. Those who kill others will someday fall themselves,” said one Perennial powerhouse with remarkable composure, calmly accepting death’s arrival.

Finally, with the eleventh Perennial powerhouse caught and killed after fleeing millions of li away, Wu Yuan stopped his pursuit.

Of the thirteen Perennials who had arrived from the Tian Luo Holy Sect, only two had escaped. The rest had their existence erased. A heavy silence descended over the battlefield.

“Two escaped?” Wu Yuan murmured to himself. If he so wished, he could certainly have killed them all. With his true strength, he could have broken past light speed.

However, it wasn’t yet time to reveal all his capabilities. The power he had displayed was enough.

Now, will I be able to access some of the deepest secrets of the Nine Realms? He thought, his gaze drifting toward the distance.

“Hurry!”

“That death bringer isn’t pursuing us.”

“Overlord Wu Ji? For a sempiternal lifeform, he’s absurdly powerful.” The two surviving Perennial powerhouses from the Tian Luo Holy Sect dared not pause for a single moment, frantically fleeing for their lives.

“He must have pioneered his self-created Dao; his Dao cultivation level absolutely rivals that of a Saint, otherwise his strength couldn’t possibly be this overwhelming.”

“His artifacts must also be extraordinarily powerful, or else his strength wouldn’t reach such heights.” The two Perennial powerhouses exchanged insights, deducing much about their opponent.

“Rumors say he has been cultivating for less than three hundred million years?” Both Perennial powerhouses felt the pressure mounting.

This was a monstrous prodigy never before seen in the Nine Realms. Yet he emerged from the enemy faction, the Qian Yang Holy Sect. Was this heaven’s way of destroying the Tian Luo Holy Sect?

“Report this immediately.”

“Let the Saints request the Holy Emperor to take action. This youth cannot be allowed to live. Even if it means all-out war, he must be killed.”
