After thinking it over, Rowan decisively redeemed the Tribute Fiend Deck, the Underworld NTR build, from the system.

That still left him with 4500 Emotion Points, a “fortune” indeed!

Then again, once all the Seven Stars Shadow Duelists were dealt with, he probably would not see much Emotion Points income for a little while.

So Rowan promptly dropped the word “fortune” from his thoughts.

After all, there were hardly any people left in Duel Academy who would still dare to duel a good-hearted soul like him.

And if, by then, the system happened to roll the two remaining Mark of the Crimson Dragon skills he wanted, or an ability that let Duel Spirits materialize, his remaining 4500 points would fall far, far short.

That settled it for Rowan.

Sure enough, if the situation allowed it in a moment, he would have to fleece that old chairman behind the Seven Stars dark faction for every last bit of wool, and earn as many Emotion Points as he could!

With that decided, Rowan kept leaning against the tree. He opened his lazily half-lidded eyes a little wider and looked over at the squinty-eyed Professor Banner and his duel with that hot-blooded idiot Jaden.

And found that, while he had been deciding which new Underworld deck to redeem and counting up last night’s haul, the duel over there had already reached its final stretch.

Banner’s last 1500 Life Points were gone in an instant.

Jaden had Fusion Summoned Elemental HERO Electrum using Elemental HERO Avian, Burstinatrix, Clayman, and Bubbleman. Its effect shuffled every card Banner had banished back into his Deck.

Then Electrum, that big, green, bald-headed HERO, struck with 3200 ATK and destroyed the monster whose power depended on the number of his banished cards, wiping out what remained of his Life Points!

“Jaden, you passed this term’s final exam in Alchemy class with flying colors. It seems you have understood the true meaning of alchemy.”

Banner sat slumped on the ground, clutching his chest. He looked at Jaden and gave a faint nod of approval.

By now, a stone-like powder was already beginning to flake away and fall from the body his alchemy had made!

“Professor Banner’s body really was made through alchemy, just like Rowan said…!”

Alexis, along with her friends Jasmine and the others, gasped in shock and covered their mouths.

Nurse Fontaine, his colleague, along with Jaden, who had just won the duel, and his two sidekicks Syrus and Chumley, wore the same stunned expressions as they watched.

In principle, they had all believed what Rowan told them.

But seeing something so incredible with their own eyes was still bound to be a shock.

“The true meaning of alchemy is to turn the human heart into something purer and nobler, right?”

Rowan raised an eyebrow and pushed himself off the tree, casually striking a pose as he called over to the squinty-eyed professor.

As for how he knew that?

Naturally, he was just delivering, ahead of time, the line this squinty-eyed professor was supposed to say in the original course of events!

“Oh… I did not expect Rowan to understand alchemy so well.”

Banner glanced at Rowan in surprise.

“It seems I was a little shortsighted, thinking only of handing that Spell Card to Jaden.”

If Rowan also understood alchemy that well, then perhaps he could have used the power of that Spell Card, Sabatiel – The Philosopher’s Stone, which held the strength of the greatest alchemist.

Offering the card to Rowan, who had defeated Jaden, might have been a good choice too.

“Ahem… I think Jaden using it is just fine. I don’t like relying on that kind of outside power!”

Rowan coughed dryly and hurriedly came up with a perfectly respectable reason.

What did he know about alchemy, honestly?

If the squinty-eyed professor and that hot-blooded idiot Jaden really did hand Sabatiel over to him, he would not be able to do a thing with it.

Especially since the card had no great appeal for someone who already had a Superior Still Water Clarity.

“I see. Then that is a shame. But it seems you already possess the noble heart the greatest alchemist requires.”

Banner smiled through his squinting eyes.

The praise left even Rowan feeling a little embarrassed.

Alexis, Jaden, Syrus, and the others, meanwhile, all wore strange expressions.

They stared at the squinty-eyed professor as if to say, “Are you kidding me?”

Each of them badly wanted to ask one thing.

Are you sure what this guy has isn’t an Underworld heart?!

Banner, however, paid no attention to any of it. He pressed on at his own pace, using the little time his body could still hold together after losing the Shadow Duel to keep talking.

“By contrast, the person who once supported my research has been gradually twisting, even as he gathers more Shadow Charms and power.”

“Rowan, Jaden, I place all my hopes in you two. You must stop him.”

“So why are you making it sound so sad…? Your soul isn’t even going to die.”

Rowan could not hold it in any longer. He broke into the atmosphere, which had been building up to something like a deathbed speech, with that remark.

In an instant, the mood went silent.

Jaden, Syrus, and the others, whose faces had been sorrowful a moment ago, all froze on the spot.

They turned to the collapsing Professor Banner with baffled looks.

So Professor Banner wasn’t going to die even like this?!

Then what was with all the sentimental act just now…!
