Chapter 47: Chapter 47: The Demon Who Sucked Her Essence

Her fingertips dug into his long, powerful arms. "You bastard," she said, her voice breaking, "get out of my room!"

"I won’t," Ian Sterling said, shaking his head. His eyes were bloodshot as he lowered his head to kiss her.

Lynn Winslow bit down hard on his lip, only letting go when the coppery taste of blood spread. Dazed, she opened her eyes and stared at Ian Sterling’s face.

She turned her head away, refusing to look at him. She bit her lip, despising herself for being so infatuated.

Utterly exhausted, Lynn Winslow felt a large hand grasp her ankle. "Will you ever stop?" she ground out.

"Never," Ian Sterling said with a smile, lowering his head to kiss her instep.

Lynn Winslow had struggled all night but couldn’t get free. Now, utterly spent, she could only say helplessly, "Can’t you go back to being the Ian Sterling I first met?"

But he was like a demon who had fed on her life force, growing more energetic and radiant. He let out a low chuckle. "Then can you go back to being the Lynn Winslow who came back looking for me?"

Lynn Winslow was so furious she could grind her teeth, and she raised her leg to kick him.

But Ian Sterling was prepared, pinning her leg down...

When Lynn Winslow was back in bed, she realized she was in the guest room.

Ian Sterling said apologetically, "The master bedroom is... unusable."

Lynn Winslow pressed her lips together, shot him a cold glance, and turned her back to him.

"I was wrong, I was wrong." Seeing her reaction, Ian Sterling hurried forward to coax her. Lynn Winslow’s voice was hoarse as she said coldly, "We’re over. Get out."

"I don’t want it to be over. Lynn, don’t be angry. I know I was wrong." Ian Sterling hugged her tightly, saying anxiously, "I just missed you so much, I like you so much. Please don’t be angry with me, okay?"

"Let go of me."

"I won’t let go until you take back what you said." Ian Sterling acted like a child, burying his face in her chest and saying in a muffled voice, "I really know I was wrong."

Lynn Winslow pressed her lips together and said nothing, but her heart was softening.

Ian Sterling looked up at her. Seeing that her expression was no longer as cold as before, he knew she had softened. He leaned in and kissed Lynn’s still-flushed cheeks, whispering, "I won’t be like this again."

Lynn Winslow’s gaze met his. There was an emotion in Ian Sterling’s eyes that she couldn’t quite decipher. Helpless against him, Lynn Winslow closed her eyes and hummed in agreement.

Ian Sterling breathed a sigh of relief and held her tighter. From an angle where Lynn Winslow couldn’t see, the smile on his lips slowly faded, and his eyes dimmed.

It was already three in the morning when they fell asleep, and just past noon when they woke. Ian Sterling had woken up early. He cleaned up last night’s mess in the master bedroom, carried Lynn Winslow back, and then lay down beside her, staring at her intently.

Lynn Winslow looked at him, her eyes still hazy with sleep, and was startled.

"Why are you staring at me like that?" Her voice was raspy. She shifted her aching back and rolled over.

"I wanted to look at you." Ian Sterling leaned down to kiss her, but Lynn Winslow blocked him with her hand, warning, "Don’t cross the line. If you do this again, I won’t forgive you."

Ian Sterling replied pitifully, "Got it."

"Get up. Get out."

Ian Sterling mumbled an "oh" and left. Only then did Lynn Winslow get out of bed, change her clothes, and go to the bathroom to wash up.

Ian Sterling ambled downstairs. Mrs. Sterling knew Ian Sterling had been there last night, so she had deliberately waited until noon to arrive. She was currently watching the chef cook.

Ian Sterling approached the kitchen and said softly, "Mrs. Sterling."

Mrs. Sterling turned to look at him and said with a faint smile, "Mr. Sterling, will you be staying for lunch?"

"May I?"

"You are our young miss’s friend, so of course you may." Although she was smiling, she seemed very distant.

Ian Sterling didn’t seem to mind. He curved his lips into a smile and said, "Then I’ll stay for lunch."

Mrs. Sterling nodded and went back to her business. Ian Sterling wandered around for a bit and ran into Kiki, who was walking out of a room with its tail swishing.

Kiki started meowing as soon as it saw him. Ian Sterling casually picked up some treats from a shelf and fed them to the cat, which made Kiki meow even more happily.

When Lynn Winslow came downstairs and saw the man and cat being so friendly, she rolled her eyes and went to the kitchen to find Mrs. Sterling.

When Mrs. Sterling saw her, she pulled her aside and whispered, "Lynn, why is Mr. Sterling here again?"

Lynn Winslow tugged uncomfortably at her collar and said in a low voice, "Well, he was at the door in the middle of the night, so I let him in."

Mrs. Sterling was sharp-eyed; she had noticed the obvious marks on Lynn Winslow’s neck and collarbone as soon as she came downstairs. She sighed. "Alright. I know you have your own mind, but you must protect yourself. In these situations, it’s always the girl who gets the short end of the stick."

"I know, I know. Don’t worry," Lynn Winslow cooed, linking her arm through Mrs. Sterling’s and nuzzling against her shoulder.

Ian Sterling had walked up behind them at some point. Hearing Lynn’s sweet tone with Mrs. Sterling, he felt a prickle of displeasure.

Mrs. Sterling gently patted Lynn Winslow’s hand and said to her, "Go relax in the living room for a bit. Lunch will be ready soon."

Lynn Winslow nodded. As she turned, she saw Ian Sterling, and her smile became much more subdued. This made Ian Sterling feel even worse.

As Lynn Winslow passed him, she gave him a curious look. "What’s wrong?" she asked.

"Nothing." Ian Sterling shook his head. He tried to take her hand, but she dodged him. He heard her remind him coolly, "Don’t cross the line."

"..."

Ian Sterling mumbled an "oh" and followed Lynn Winslow into the living room. Seeing Lynn, Kiki leaped directly into her arms.

Kiki’s soft meows and cuddles completely melted Lynn Winslow’s heart, and she showered kisses on its forehead. Ian Sterling felt like he was drowning in a vat of vinegar. He thought he was being ridiculous, first getting jealous of Mrs. Sterling and now of Kiki.

After lunch, Lynn Winslow asked Ian Sterling, "Aren’t you going to the office?"

"I’ll go after my assistant brings me a change of clothes."

Lynn Winslow nodded, her fingers methodically stroking Kiki’s fur.

Before long, Evan Carson arrived. He rang the doorbell, and Mrs. Sterling went to open the door for him.

Evan Carson stood at the doorway and didn’t step inside. He said respectfully to Mrs. Sterling, "Hello. Could you please give these clothes to our Finn?"

Mrs. Sterling nodded and took the clothes back inside the villa.

"Mr. Sterling, these are from your assistant."

Ian Sterling glanced at Lynn Winslow, but when she showed no reaction, he hummed sullenly and said, "Thank you."

He got up, went to the bathroom to change, and when he came back, he heard Lynn Winslow on the phone.

"Yeah, so when you have time, go to Winslow Manor and check on my grandfather for me."

"It’s none of your business. Just worry about yourself."

"Alright, alright. Mr. Lancaster is so mighty and impressive."

Ian Sterling stood frozen, watching Lynn Winslow’s eyes curve into happy crescents as she smiled. He felt extremely displeased.

He strode forward and said in a soft voice, "Lynn, you get some rest at home. I’m going to the office. I’ll be back tonight to keep you company."

Lynn Winslow frowned at him. Ian Sterling leaned down and, taking her by surprise, gave her a hard kiss, making sure the person on the other end of the line could hear it.

Lynn Winslow covered her lips, her eyes wide with shock.
