Chapter 112: What’s So Good About That Punk?
Chapter 112: Chapter 112: What’s So Good About That Punk?
The grandfather and granddaughter had a good catch-up, and Lynn Winslow even performed a tea ceremony for Mr. Powell.
Mr. Powell, just like Ian Sterling, hissed endlessly when he saw his granddaughter pinching the hot cups like that, as if he were the one getting burned.
Lynn found it amusing and said, "Don’t worry, Grandpa, I’m not afraid of the heat."
"How can such tender skin handle this? Did your paternal grandfather make you learn this? I’m going to call him later and give him a good scolding," Mr. Powell frowned deeply. His complaints made Lynn giggle endlessly.
Mr. Powell had notified the entire Powell family yesterday that everyone must return by noon, no matter how busy they were. Ethan Powell was the first to arrive, bringing along the woman Lynn had met once before.
The woman stepped forward and proactively introduced herself to Lynn. "Hello, I’m Sheila Lowell."
Lynn blinked and said gently, "I know. Ethan’s future wife."
Sheila then remembered Ian Sterling, who had been with Lynn that day, and asked with a smile, "Did Finn from the Sterling Family tell you?"
Lynn nodded, but Mr. Powell asked, "Are you dating that Finn from the Sterling Family?"
His expression soured, but Lynn admitted generously, "We’ve been together for a while now."
"Hmph, what’s so good about that brat?" Mr. Powell turned his head away, throwing a tantrum like a child.
"Tell me, Grandpa, who is good in your eyes?" Lynn linked her arm through his and asked with a beaming smile. "Tell me, let me hear it. If there really is someone better than him, I’ll switch."
Ethan Powell, standing to the side, said flatly, "In Grandpa’s eyes, anyone you date is no good."
Lynn smiled and playfully pressed Mr. Powell, "Is that true, Grandpa?"
"You dare make fun of me, you little brat? You just got home and you’re already learning this nonsense from Ethan." Mr. Powell tapped the tip of Lynn’s nose in mock anger and glared at Ethan.
Ethan shrugged and pulled Sheila along, preparing to sit down. However, Sheila directly shook off his hand and went to sit next to Lynn instead.
Ethan frowned in confusion, but he shut his mouth after receiving a sharp glance from Sheila.
Listening to the two women chat with Mr. Powell, Ethan couldn’t get a single word in. It wasn’t until it was almost noon that Mr. Powell suddenly remembered and asked the butler, "Has Aiden Powell been picked up yet?"
The butler replied, "The driver went to get him. He should be arriving shortly."
Mr. Powell grunted in acknowledgment and gently patted the back of Lynn’s hand. "When he gets back later, I’ll make him give you a proper apology. Don’t be in a rush to forgive him. Bully him a few times first."
Lynn let out a surprised sound, and Sheila chimed in, "Exactly. Aiden has that kind of personality. If you don’t bully him into submission, he’ll never apologize sincerely."
"Right, learn a thing or two from Sheila and figure out the best way to bully him," Mr. Powell nodded.
Bullying a ten-year-old child? Lynn actually found the idea quite interesting.
Aiden returned not long after. As he walked through the door, he shouted excitedly, "Grandpa, I’m back! Is something going on?"
But the moment he saw Lynn, his excitement vanished entirely. He froze in his tracks, too afraid to step forward.
Sheila waved at him and said lightly, "Come here. Come over to us."
Aiden didn’t want to go, but he harbored a subconscious fear of Sheila, so he dawdled his way over to them.
Lynn remained silent, quietly looking at Aiden. Mr. Powell said, "Apologize properly to Lynn."
Aiden opened his mouth to refuse, but after catching the stern glares of the other three people—excluding Lynn—he lowered his head and muttered, "I’m sorry."
Lynn blinked and asked in confusion, "What did you say? I didn’t hear you clearly."
"You’re messing with me! I’m sorry, I’m sorry, alright?!" Aiden yelled. He turned and ran upstairs. Lynn stared blankly at his retreating back, let out a soft exclamation, and said unhurriedly, "I really didn’t hear him clearly..."
Unfortunately, in Aiden’s mind, Lynn was just messing with him on purpose, so he kept sneaking glares at her during lunch. After catching his glares several times, Lynn decided that she really should give him a good bullying.
After lunch, Aiden ran out to the back garden to play. Lynn glanced at the slightly overcast sky. It wasn’t very hot, so she told Mr. Powell she was heading out and went looking for Aiden.
When Aiden saw her, he let out a loud scoff and turned to head back inside. But the moment he walked past Lynn, he tripped and fell to the ground.
"Ah, Aiden, are you okay?" Lynn asked, reaching out to help him up out of concern.
"You tripped me on purpose!" Aiden demanded.
"No, I didn’t. You just tripped accidentally."
"You definitely tripped me! This is flat ground. How could I just fall for no reason?"
"Be that as it may, did you even look down to check if it’s actually flat ground?"
Hearing this, Aiden looked at the ground. To his surprise, a cobblestone was jutting out! He scrambled to his feet nimbly, shot Lynn a glare, and turned to go tattle to the butler, intending to make him immediately replace the back garden’s cobblestones with smooth paving.
Lynn, however, remained squatting in place. She looked down at the cobblestone and said with a beaming smile, "Thanks for taking the blame for me."
She stood up and leisurely strolled back into the villa. Just as she expected, Aiden was complaining to the butler at the top of his lungs, causing both Ethan and Sheila, who were playing on their phones in the living room, to frown deeply.
Seeing Lynn enter, Aiden snapped his mouth shut. He bit the bullet and said, "I’m sorry, I misunderstood you. I thought you tripped me."
Lynn returned a gentle smile. "It’s fine."
Aiden actually felt a twinge of guilt. This was completely unprecedented. Having been spoiled rotten since childhood, he had never apologized for bullying anyone, let alone felt guilty about it. Experiencing such a feeling now, Aiden’s brain couldn’t quite process it.
He pursed his lips and ran back to his room to calm down, leaving Lynn and Sheila to exchange a glance before bursting into laughter.
Lynn had never interacted with a child like this before. She was full of enthusiasm at the moment and had even developed a competitive spirit, feeling that taming such a kid would be something to be proud of.
But she wasn’t in a hurry. She sat on the sofa and chatted with Sheila. The two of them had just added each other on WhatsApp. Right now, they were studying each other’s makeup and sending each other links to products they were curious about or liked.
Ethan sat to the side, utterly bewildered by their conversation. However, he knew that men shouldn’t interrupt when women talked about these things, or else they would be subjected to a soul-crushing interrogation.
Little did he expect that, even though he hadn’t interrupted, a question would still be thrown his way.
"Ethan, do you know what shade of lipstick Sheila usually wears?"
Ethan looked up, only to see that familiar, mischievous glint in Lynn’s eyes.
It was exactly the same as Ian Sterling’s! He was now beginning to agree with what Mr. Powell had said before lunch. He thought, "What’s so good about that brat?! Lynn has never been like this before; she definitely picked up bad habits from Ian Sterling."
Sheila looked over and smiled faintly. "Do you know?"
Ethan clearly saw the threat in Sheila’s eyes and opened his mouth.
