Chapter 407 - Feeding Mr. Fluffball Medicine
Mr. Fluffball walked out of his carriage, jumped straight to the sofa, and curled into a comfortable position to sleep.
Lu Xun looked at the cat and grew distressed that the cat was not as lively as he usually was. Worried, he walked over to the sofa and started to caress the cat's head.
The cat raised up his head to look at his papa and meowed weakly.
Song Xing Xing watched the two of them and decided not to mind. Mr. Fluffball was sick and he will need some care and attention.
As they had just arrived home from a long trip, Song Xing Xing decided to head upstairs first and unpacked their luggage.
She thought about her exchange with Xia Yu and decided to text Huo Yun Chen that Xia Yu was safe.
After she was done with unpacking and cleaning up, it was a few hours later.
Song Xing Xing headed downstairs and found that Lu Xun was sleeping on the couch with Mr. Fluffball by his side. She took out a blanket and covered his body.
Seeing that it was a few hours until dinner. Song Xing Xing went into the kitchen and started dinner.
Fortunately, Auntie Wei had helped to refill the refrigerator with fresh ingredients. Song Xing Xing picked up a few ingredients and began to make her preparation.
As she was throwing some diced chicken into the pan, Song Xing Xing had a feeling as if she was being watched. Turning to the entrance, she then found her husband, leaning on the wall while looking at her.
The moment their gazes met, Lu Xun walked over to her side and pecked on her cheek. His arms wrapped around her waist.
"Be careful, the oil might splatter on you," Song Xing Xing said.
Lu Xun naturally did not mind some splatter oil on his hands. "Why are you making dinner? I can order some takeaways for dinner instead."
"I got tired of eating outside's food. I miss my own cooking."
Lu Xun chuckled. He peered into the pan and then looked at the dishes that she had prepared. "No prawn today?"
Song Xing Xing thought about the prawn in the refrigerator and wrinkled her nose. "We ate a lot of seafood during our trip. I think it's nice to have a little change."
Lu Xun thought that whatever his wife was thinking was right. Since she wanted a little change, naturally, he would not mind it.
The dishes were prepared within half an hour. She brought the food to the dining area and watched Mr. Fluffball coming over.
The fat cat looked at her with a pitiful look on his face. Then, the cat glanced at the food on the table and meowed.
"Mr. Fluffball, are you hungry?" Lu Xun asked.
Earlier, the caretaker had mentioned that the cat did not have the appetite to eat. Now that he had come over after smelling the food, it should mean that he was feeling a little better, right?
"Right." Lu Xun looked up again as e remembered something. "It should be time for Mr. Fluffball to eat his medicine, right?" Lu Xun asked.
Mr. Fluffball shot a look at his papa. He couldn't tell why but he suddenly had bad feelings.
"Mhm..." Song Xing Xing nodded. She pulled Mf. Fluffball's bowl and put in some boiled chicken that Auntie Wei had helped to prepare.
"Then, I'll help and feed Mr. Fluffball later."
Song Xing Xing smiled and did not say anything.
Seeing that the cat had started to eat, the couple began to eat as well. After dinner, Lu Xun carried the cat in his arms and brought him over to the table. Song Xing Xing brought the medicine and watched from the side.
Following the caretaker's method, Lu Xun started to caress the cat's head and pulled Mr. Fluffball's head. However, as he tried to pull the cat's mouth open, he realized that it was not as easy as how the caretaker had shown him earlier.
Mr. Fluffball refused to open his mouth and cooperate.
"Mr. Fluffball, open your mouth and eat your medicine," Lu Xun tried to coax.
The cat clenched his teeth and let out a low growl.
Finding his chance to escape, Mr. Fluffball jumped down the table and went to hide in his room.
Song Xing Xing watched Lu Xun's expressions and could no help but laugh.
Lu Xun watched her with a helpless look in his eyes. "The caretaker made it look so easy."
She turned to look for Mr. Fluffball in his room and brought him back into the living room. Her hands caressed the cat's head gently.
"Let me help you to hold him," Lu Xun suggested.
"It's fine. I can do this."
He shot her a suspicious look. "Are you sure?"
"Un. If you help to hold him, Mr. Fluffball would only be scared."
Lu Xun thought her words made sense and did not step out to help her. He sat at the side and watched as his wife tilted up Mr. Fluffball's head slightly, pulled his mouth open, and put the medicine into Mr. Fluffball's mouth with ease.
Once everything was done, Song Xing Xing released the cat and Mr. Fluffball jumped over to his papa as if looking for comfort.
"Meow." He looked at his papa with an aggrieved look on his face. Something went through his throat and he did not know what that was.
Lu Xun picked up the cat in his arms and caressed his head. He looked at his wife in awe. "How did you do it?"
His wife was great with kids and small animals. Lu Xun could not help but think of how lucky he was to be married to this amazing woman.
"You could say that I have a lot of practice." Song Xing Xing laughed. "In the beginning, it was not hard for me to feed him medicine as well. In the past, Mr. Fluffball would run around as well. I have to chase him around the house to feed him medicine. After a few times, I learned how to do it well."
"Meow." Mr. Fluffball laid his head on his papa's shoulder. He was still upset that he was forced to eat medicine.
Lu Xun continued to coax the cat.
Hearing his phone ringing from the living room, Lu Xun walked over to check on the message. His expression changed as he clicked on the email. "Xing Xing, Bei Yuan said that the investigation report on Nurse Xia had come out," Lu Xun said. "Nurse Xia Yu's hometown is in A City."
Song Xing Xing nodded and wondered if she should tell this information to Huo Yun Chen later.
"The investigator decided to look into Miss Xia while he was on it.. He found out that the reason she returned to her hometown was that, her father had passed away."
