Chapter 560: I Want His Primordial
“Qi Yun,” True Monarch Shen Yi spoke, his voice retaining that same peaceful and gentle tone, like an elder calling out to a junior. “Is that the Profound Yellow Origin in your hands?”
Qi Yun turned his head to look at him. As their eyes met, Qi Yun offered no response. He didn’t need to. By the time True Monarch Shen Yi asked the question, the answer was already written in his eyes.
“Senior Shen Yi,” Qi Yun said evenly. “If you have something to say, just say it.”
True Monarch Shen Yi smiled faintly. It was an incredibly gentle smile, yet it sent a slight chill through the hearts of every True Monarch present.
“The Profound Yellow Origin does not belong to any single person.” True Monarch Shen Yi’s voice was not loud, but it reached everyone’s ears with absolute clarity. “It is the foundation of the Profound Yellow Origin Realm, the very root of this Heaven and Earth’s existence.
“You cannot hold onto it alone.”
Qi Yun remained silent as his gaze swept across the battlefield.
Desolate Halberd Splitting Sky True Monarch tightened his grip on his deformed Great Halberd. The blood in the webbing of his hand had already congealed, but there was no greed in his eyes—only pure exhaustion and vigilance.
True Monarch of No Dao Extreme Law stood with his hands resting by his sides, the mass of “nothingness” in his palms having dissipated. He watched the scene expressionlessly, showing no obvious inclination.
Qingyuan Dao Seeking True Monarch had retracted his azure Sword Qi into his body. He sat cross-legged in the void, regulating his breathing to recover, though his eyes never left the sword in Qi Yun’s hand.
Vast Sea Dust True Monarch’s illusory ocean had receded. He stood amidst the water vapor, his features obscured and his expression unreadable.
Nine Revolutions Undying True Monarch’s Golden Body had dimmed somewhat, its golden flames extinguished, yet he still kept his back ramrod straight like an iron tower.
There were other True Monarchs as well. Dozens of True Monarchs harbored dozens of different motives. Qi Yun withdrew his gaze and looked back at True Monarch Shen Yi.
“Senior Shen Yi,” his voice was as placid as water. “You single-handedly blocked the combined attacks of six Dao Kings just now. Qi admires you.”
True Monarch Shen Yi gave a slight nod but said nothing.
“But you know in your heart that those six Dao Kings did not use their full strength,” Qi Yun continued, his voice devoid of any fluctuation. “They are merely probing, draining us, and waiting.
“They will only truly strike when we are exhausted, when every single one of us is utterly powerless to fight back.”
True Monarch Shen Yi’s eyes narrowed slightly. “So, what are you trying to say?”
“What Qi wants to say is this—” Qi Yun raised the sword in his hand, and the phantom of the Profound Yellow Treasure Tree on its blade burst into brilliant light. “The Profound Yellow Origin can only unleash its greatest potential in Qi’s hands.”
He paused.
“You are not capable.”
The moment those words fell, the temperature across the entire battlefield plummeted. True Monarch Shen Yi’s smile did not waver, but the light in his eyes changed.
“I am not capable?” he repeated. His tone remained gentle, yet it carried a terrifyingly oppressive weight.
“You are not capable,” Qi Yun reiterated, enunciating every word. “You are currently a True Monarch, not a Dao King.
“The Great Dao in your hands was comprehended, not forged by yourself.
“You can borrow the power of the Profound Yellow Origin, but you cannot control it.”
True Monarch Shen Yi fell silent. He remained silent for three breaths of time. After those three breaths, he laughed. That smile was no longer gentle; instead, it carried a cold, naked killing intent.
“Qi Yun, you are too young,” he said in a low voice. “So young that you don’t know the immensity of Heaven and Earth.”
He raised his right hand. As he lifted it, the hand began to transform. Countless silver threads, fine as strands of hair, spread out from between his five fingers. Each thread was the physical manifestation of a Great Dao, and every Great Dao led to an unknown end. These threads intertwined and tangled in the void, forming an earth-shattering, massive web that enveloped the entire battlefield.
“Qi Yun, hand over the Profound Yellow Origin.” True Monarch Shen Yi’s voice was no longer gentle, bearing an unquestionable tone of command. “I can overlook your earlier insolence.”
Qi Yun looked at him without moving. “And if Qi says no?”
“Then I will simply have to take it myself.”
Before his voice faded, True Monarch Shen Yi struck. He did not use any Divine Techniques, nor did he cast any Magic. He simply took a single step forward, spread the five fingers of his right hand, and gently clenched them toward the sword in Qi Yun’s grasp.
Just with this single grasp, the entire Celestial Vault began to tremble.
Qi Yun’s pupils shrank slightly. He could feel it. True Monarch Shen Yi’s grasp was not an attempt to snatch the Profound Yellow Origin, but rather to sever the connection between Qi Yun and the Profound Yellow Origin.
Every single one of those silver threads was a Daoist Law. They weren’t attacking Qi Yun; instead, they were “persuading” the Profound Yellow Origin, coaxing it to leave Qi Yun and return to where it “rightfully belonged.”
“What a fine trick,” Qi Yun shouted in a low voice.
The sword in his hand vibrated violently. The phantom of the Profound Yellow Treasure Tree on the blade shook fiercely. Its roots withdrew from the void, its branches and leaves contracted, and the entire illusion collapsed inward into the blade.
Gripping the sword with his right hand, Qi Yun formed a hand seal with his left. The azure sky behind him churned madly. The radiant light of the sun, moon, and stars all withdrew, while the roaring of the mountains and rivers fell dead silent. The entire expanse of the azure sky transformed into a mass of pure, chaotic light that surged into the longsword in his hand.
“Slash!”
He swung the sword. There was no flash of the blade, no Sword Qi, and no magnificent display of light. There was only a line—a single line that cleaved Heaven and Earth in half.
That line extended outward from the tip of the sword, slashing straight toward True Monarch Shen Yi’s grasping right hand.
True Monarch Shen Yi frowned slightly. Opening the five fingers of his right hand a little wider, the countless silver threads converged to form a silver barrier, shielding him from the front.
RIIIIP.
The line slashed against the silver barrier, emitting a sound just like tearing fabric. A fissure was cleaved open in the silver barrier.
True Monarch Shen Yi’s eyes flickered. The innumerable silver threads ceased their defense; instead, they surged toward the line from all directions, entangling, wrapping, and wearing it down layer by layer. Under the constriction of the silver threads, the line finally dissipated.
However, a deep, bloody gash had appeared on True Monarch Shen Yi’s right hand. Blood dripped down his fingers, and every drop that fell into the void blossomed into a blood-red lotus.
True Monarch Shen Yi looked down at the bloody gash on his hand, remaining silent for a moment.
“What an impressive Profound Yellow Origin,” he said, lifting his head to look at Qi Yun. “I underestimated you.”
Qi Yun stood with his sword in hand, his expression unchanged, yet his vitality and blood were surging wildly within his body. For that strike just now, he had utilized the power of the Profound Yellow Origin; the price was the immense burden it placed on his Daoist Body.
“Again?” he challenged flatly.
True Monarch Shen Yi was in no rush to attack. Standing in the void, he looked at Qi Yun and suddenly spoke, “Fellow Daoists, how much longer do you intend to watch?”
As soon as these words were spoken, the hearts of every True Monarch present jolted. Was True Monarch Shen Yi… trying to rally them?
“The Profound Yellow Origin does not belong to me alone.” True Monarch Shen Yi’s voice echoed through the void. “It belongs to all living beings in the Profound Yellow Origin Realm.
“Are you truly content to let Qi Yun monopolize it by himself?”
Silence. No one spoke. Yet, Qi Yun could feel that their gazes had changed.
Desolate Halberd Splitting Sky True Monarch was the first to speak. “Shen Yi, what do you mean by that?”
“My meaning is quite clear,” True Monarch Shen Yi said lightly. “The Profound Yellow Origin should be jointly controlled by everyone. No one should even think about hogging it all to themselves.”
“Bullshit,” Desolate Halberd Splitting Sky True Monarch snorted coldly. “I don’t give a damn about this Profound Yellow Origin. I only know that Qi Yun just used that thing to force back a Dao King.
“If you can force back a Dao King, I’ll support you too. Can you?”
“Of course I can—”
“Like hell you can,” Desolate Halberd Splitting Sky True Monarch interrupted him without an ounce of politeness. “When you blocked those six Dao Kings earlier, were you using your own abilities?
“You were using the Origin Qi that the Profound Yellow Origin Realm had accumulated over eons.
“That Origin Qi was drawn in by Qi Yun, it wasn’t yours.”
True Monarch Shen Yi’s eye twitched slightly. “Desolate Halberd, you—”
“I’m not finished speaking.” Desolate Halberd Splitting Sky True Monarch rested his Great Halberd on his shoulder, his bloodstained face full of mockery. “You’re jumping out to snatch the Profound Yellow Origin now, but isn’t it ultimately just because Qi Yun is stronger than you, and you’re scared?
“Scared that he’ll trample all over you once he becomes a Dao King?”
A hint of faint coldness surfaced on True Monarch Shen Yi’s face.
“Desolate Halberd, you are also a True Monarch of our Holy Sect. Do you know that you are courting death?”
The atmosphere became dangerously tense.
Right at this moment, a cold and clear voice drifted over from a distance. “Primordial True Monarch, what a majestic display of authority.”
All the True Monarchs turned their heads simultaneously.
At the end of the Celestial Vault, a flare of firelight ignited from deep within the distant void. From the center of the flames, a figure slowly stepped out.
She wore a fiery red dress with countless spreading-winged phoenixes embroidered on the hem. The eye of every phoenix was a burning star. Her long hair flowed like molten magma, trailing long flames behind her in the void. Her features were breathtakingly beautiful, yet she exuded a majesty that made others afraid to look at her directly.
Feng Xi True Monarch. She had arrived.
Qi Yun furrowed his brows slightly.
“Shen Yi.” Feng Xi True Monarch walked to True Monarch Shen Yi’s side, her voice crisp and cold. “You are too impatient.”
True Monarch Shen Yi turned his head to look at her impassively.
“I am stating a fact,” Feng Xi True Monarch interrupted, her gaze falling upon the sword in Qi Yun’s hand. “With the Profound Yellow Origin in his grasp, you cannot snatch it away.
“Unless you are willing to perish together with him.
“But you are not, because you still want to prove your Dao and become a King.”
True Monarch Shen Yi fell silent. Feng Xi True Monarch was telling the truth. He was not afraid of dying, but he did not want to die. He had waited for this day for far too long.
“I will help you,” Feng Xi True Monarch continued. “I don’t want the Profound Yellow Origin. I only want one thing.”
“What is it?”
“I want his Primordial.”
True Monarch Shen Yi raised an eyebrow. He remained silent for a moment before finally nodding. “Alright.”
The moment the two reached a consensus, Qi Yun made his move.
“Since you’ve made your choices, it should be Qi’s turn to choose!”
