Your Beloved Sweetheart Is Online
Chapter 2326 - 2237: Who Is the Gentle Touch in This Lifetime? (7)
"Weren’t you the one who said you couldn’t wait?"
"Fine, I’ll do it!" Maimai finished the delicious food in her mouth, cleared her throat a couple of times, gathered herself, smiled at Chenxing, and said, "Mom."
...
Wubai returned home, took a bath, washed his hair, lay on the bed, and slept for a full five hours. By the time he woke up, it was already daylight. He got up, washed his face, and felt much more refreshed.
In the empty house, something seemed to be missing—it felt less lively. After a while, he realized it was because the house was missing a woman.
He remembered that Mom had taken Little Ai over. He checked the time and decided to go home and bring Little Ai back.
These days, he and Zun Zun were busy with Sheng Sheng’s affairs, unable to look after Little Ai. Mom didn’t want to make round trips every day, so she simply took Little Ai to her and Dad’s house. It was said that the two got along well, with Mom hoping every day that Little Ai would give her a granddaughter soon.
Mom had a regret in her heart because she didn’t have a daughter, and Dad was unwilling to have a second child. She hoped Little Ai could help make up for this regret.
Wubai chuckled, grabbed his keys, and headed out the door.
He had moved out early on to live with Little Ai, primarily because he liked the freedom. At home, he couldn’t stand Mom’s endless nagging, so when choosing a place to live, he deliberately picked an apartment far from home—one was in the east of the city, the other in the west. It took more than half an hour by car, and by the time he arrived, it was already fully daylight.
When he drove down and saw someone jogging outside the yard, he shouted a greeting, "Uncle Ling, morning."
"Morning," Ling Yin waved and continued his jog.
Ever since retiring, Ling Yin had been living with Hua Hua for the past half a year, but he preferred life in Spain, where he had more friends. So he and Hua Hua often stayed in Spain for one or two months. Having gotten used to living between two places, they didn’t find it troublesome.
"Uncle Ling, is Hua Hua still ignoring you these days?" Wubai asked while jogging behind him, deciding to accompany Uncle Ling for a bit since it was still early and he didn’t want to wake Little Ai.
"That’s just how he is; he’ll be fine in a couple of days. He has a sharp tongue but a soft heart," Ling Yin didn’t mind, thinking it was just a minor conflict, and once Hua Hua cooled off in a few days, everything would be fine.
Over the years, every cold war was like this—never more than ten days. Once he cooled down, Ling Yin would coax him and apologize, and Hua Hua would be quickly won over.
Wubai accompanied Ling Yin for a jog around, then headed to Hua Hua’s place for breakfast. Sure enough, Hua Hua was cold-faced and only spoke to Wubai during the meal, not acknowledging Ling Yin at all.
Wubai laughed, playing the middleman, chatting with Hua Hua one moment and Ling Yin the next. When they talked about Sheng Sheng and Maimai, he heard a surprising piece of news: "Getting married? No engagement party?"
Hua Hua’s expression changed completely when talking about this topic, becoming very enthusiastic: "They couldn’t wait, insisted on canceling the engagement party, going straight for the wedding. Among you kids, I didn’t expect Sheng Sheng to be the first to marry, and it turns out Sheng Sheng brought my Maimai home."
"Time flies. I remember when Maimai was just born, Chenxing and Huanhuan were fighting to have Maimai as their daughter-in-law. Huanhuan was especially smug, saying Chenxing would never have a chance in this life; Maimai is yours. But now look, Chenxing ended up taking my Maimai away. It’s been so many years; time flies."
