This voice, um... seems to be my uncle’s.

Immediately, the hospital room fell silent.

Father Hua is the most obedient to uncle, always following his words to the letter. Maimai secretly despised Father Hua, feeling an urgent need to pee. Maimai pretended to be just waking up, rubbing her eyes and slowly moving her body.

She didn’t realize until she moved, but it startled her.

Her whole body felt weak, so achy, like her body wasn’t her own and wouldn’t obey her.

"Maimai’s awake," Chenxing, who had been sitting between the two hospital beds, noticed the movement and said excitedly.

Immediately, Hua Hua rushed over, calling Maimai’s name: "Maimai, Maimai..."

Maimai opened her eyes and saw Father Hua’s enlarged face. She groaned, her lips slightly parted: "Father Ling."

"I’m calling you!" Hua Hua immediately turned around, glaring at Ling Yin.

Ling Yin came over, bent down, and patted her head: "Maimai, you’re awake?"

"Where’s Sheng Sheng?"

"Sheng Sheng hasn’t woken up yet, he’s still sleeping." Chenxing held Maimai’s other hand and pointed to the hospital bed beside her.

Maimai slightly turned her head and saw Sheng Sheng; he was indeed lying on the bed beside her. She saw only his head was visible, his lips tightly pressed together.

"Auntie, how is Sheng Sheng?"

Chenxing didn’t say explicitly, but her eyes were still red: "You two kids won’t be satisfied until you’ve worried us to death, will you?"

But Ling Yin, seeing the worry in Maimai’s eyes, explained: "Sheng Sheng is fine; it’s just that his external injuries are a bit serious,

but he hasn’t injured any internal organs." For someone young like Sheng Sheng, as long as the internal organs aren’t damaged, external injuries aren’t a big deal, though he might suffer some skin and flesh pain.

Maimai responded with relief, "I need to pee."

She was woken up by her need to pee.

Just after she said this, she heard laughter. Maimai awkwardly glanced at her laughing uncle, stuck out her little tongue in embarrassment. Gu Shaocheng put away his smile, gave her a stern look, and Maimai immediately averted her gaze, looking pitifully at her aunt, "Auntie, I need to pee."

"I’ll help you."

She knew her aunt was always the best to her, though she couldn’t avoid a scolding from her uncle and Father Hua. After they walked away, Maimai finally had a chance to truly look at her man.

Her father and uncle left two hours later, leaving only her aunt in the hospital room. Maimai, always lively and unabashed, said: "Auntie, I want to sleep in the same bed as Sheng Sheng."

Chenxing was very open-minded: "Do whatever you want, don’t worry about me. The hospital bed is big enough for both of you.

The hospital room was very comfortable, the bed was comfortable too. They lived in a detached unit, heavily guarded outside, and inside it was as cozy as a little home. Maimai indeed paid no heed, laid down on Sheng Sheng’s hospital bed, snuggled under the blanket, her hand resting on his chest, her hand spreading across his thick eyebrows, watching his peaceful sleeping face.

"Auntie, when did the doctor say Sheng Sheng would wake up?"

"I don’t know," Chenxing thought of her son’s many injuries, her heart aching with worry: "The doctor just said that a good sleep helps with recovery. You two really scared me to death. You got into such a big trouble and didn’t tell me. And you, a young girl, what were you doing in Miami? What if something happened to you, what would your father do? What would we do?"

Maimai stuck out her tongue: "We’re good people with good fortune, didn’t we come out fine? Auntie, don’t worry."

"Just thinking about it makes me terrified. You’re too reckless, you shouldn’t take such risks. Listen to me, don’t do this again next time. Did you hear? When your uncle found out you went to Miami, he was furious! Your father was furious too." Chenxing pulled a chair to sit by her side: "I was also scared to death."

"Auntie, I won’t dare next time." If there really was a next time, she would still go, but she couldn’t say that.
